*crack* *siiiiiiip* yep... Quake was a good game.

Quake doesn't really need a recommendation, but remember to use Quakespasm (If you want Quakespasm to launch when you click "play game" through Steam go into the folder and rename quakespasm.exe to Winquake.exe and delete the old Winquake.exe) and put the following commands into your autoexec.cfg in the id folder or just in ~ console idk (tho some may get lost the next time you boot up hence the need for autoexec):

"r_lerpmodels 0" and "r_lerpmove 0" for proper (not unnaturally smooth) animation of enemies and your weapon
"r_particles 2" for sexy square particles
and finally "gl_texturemode GL_NEAREST_MIPMAP_LINEAR" so the game doesn't blur the textures to ♥♥♥♥, oh and fix the soundtrack and you're good to go.
