Not the same experience Hawken provided.
The combat experience had little to no heft compared to the original predecessor or even other mech games.

The general UI in the main menu for customizing your mech wasn't very intuitive and felt chunky.
In-game, the settings menu was clearly not designed for mouse and keyboard controls. Almost as if it was just ported over from console without consideration for other controls except game-play.

State of the game is improving, however the sustainability of the game for long term investment is not optimal for people looking to gain reasonable progression within the game along with their recent tactics after OW2 becoming Free-to-Play still remaining.

This is still a great game to pop inside and play a couple of matches from time to time, but not long term. Which is something to keep in mind if your performance isn't great or you feel the there too much to grind for.

Battlefield 2042 is potentially the pinnacle of what Battlefield could offer.
- Back into everyone's fan-favorite modern era Battlefield.
- Featuring the largest-scale battles yet in 128 (64v64) player battles with Conquest and Breakthrough modes.
- Switching weapon attachments on the fly in the middle of combat.
- Battlefield Portal features most previous installments with most of their original content excluding maps.
- For the first time in Battlefield, cross-play is now supported for all platforms BF2042 is on.

Except, this is where the features that tout an improvement stops.

Gameplay
Weapons & Customization
Gunplay feels solid in BF2042, yet weapon choice is limited compared to the other Battlefield games on launch. On launch, gunplay proved to be very unbalanced, but now it seems to have stabilized. Attachment customization is forced mostly through the in-game Quick-Slot Attachment system. You can only choose three of each type of attachment on every weapon. Each attachment unlocked will need to be manually added via the collections menu before continuing in-game. Anything you attach in-game on a gun is reverted if not in a loadout. Some attachments also don't differ from each other except appearance. Quick-slotting attachments should be an extension, not a replacement for customization. Another issue arises if you also want to use an attachment, not in your quick-slots.

There isn't much user customization either. The options are even less than what BFV offered and they didn't offer much for it. Skins for weapons and vehicles are nowhere to be found.

Maps
Maps seem too large even on a 128 player battle making the experience very empty. You might not find enemies for miles across the map. While the weather effects are beautiful, each disaster feels like running into a pond when expecting an ocean to hit you. Balanced on whether it would be frustrating or fun to run into, we can take the best-known example of the tornado; it doesn't affect the game in any sense. Real-time events also seem to have little effect as they mostly are affected by players rather than the controlling faction. One such example is the rocket launching in Orbit and can be destroyed before it launches. They are simply visual effects.

Modes
BF2042 only has three game modes being Conquest and Breakthrough. With Rush being an extension from BF Portal. Conquest comes in 64 or 128 player scales now, while Breakthrough functions similarly to Operations with similar player scales. Lastly is Hazard Zone, which is a slower-paced Battle Royale mode featuring similar TKA (Time to Kill) as multiplayer modes and a max of only 42 players. Being a multiplayer-only game, it doesn't seem like they offered many options except the most popular modes by default.

Specialists
Specialists replace classic classes and feature unique perks/tools versus their predecessors. DICE could have implemented these traits into classic classes, but their option instead helps focus on both the player's and character's identity they are playing as. They are arranged in a list seemingly going Assault > Tank > Recon > Medic. On normal game modes, specialists appear to be either underwhelming or unbalanced. Their function very adeptly in Breakthrough/Operations as that is a team-based mode.

User Interface
Start Menu
The UI design, while not much of an improvement over Battlefield V; the previous Battlefield installment, is more responsive and easier to navigate. After selecting one of three subsections (Warfare, Hazard Zone, Portal), the menu shows all categories on the top of your screen, similar to the UI in previous installments. BFV's change constituted a change in BF that wasn't broken but decidedly changed anyhow. 2042's menu screen isn't terrible, but it may leave players scratching their heads on how to navigate. Most of the other menus also don't use their available space coverage and leave behind an empty void. The menu could be more compact to fix this issue if implemented correctly.

Maps
The changes for vehicles might have been to slow down who gets to click on a vehicle first or just a central hub, not a game-breaking change, but having land and air vehicles separate is better for visual cues. The map deployment menu itself isn't cluttered, but depending on which map, it can get overshadowed by ally and enemy zone hues, so you only see two blobs of colors instead of the actual landscape. The HUD now only displays which team has sector majority visually on the top of your screen.

Weapon Customization & Attachments
If the change was to ensure players do not sit hours in a match customizing their weapon loadouts, why not just make it available to customize in the menu before? I'm glad you asked because they did think of that. However, that menu itself is a mess versus Call of Duty's Gunsmith, with navigation being a menu in a menu. The menu also doesn't seem to have been designed in mind for PC. Only allowing us four different loadouts is being stingy. Our main issue is that we no longer have a proper loadout customization menu.

The Quick-Slot Attachment system provides more information versus past games, but in return, the player is now bombarded with positive and negative perks on the side of the screen. This issue shows to be more frustrating in-game if you don't already know what to use. You are given the ability to choose what attachments to use on a weapon, but it isn't explained how this system works. The first slot nearest is the default attachment used on your gun upon deployment.

In general, the menus for customization is clunky and not easy to navigate without glancing several different directions.

Scoreboard
The scoreboard change was a decision made by DICE to reduce friction among each over. By not having a scoreboard with all players, it reduces competition. With a scoreboard, it may have been easier to identify players misusing the service, as with a list of players, it may be easier to point out which match it may have been. You won't find anything with a scoreboard showing just the top five squads. Even so, the real problem is how cluttered the menu appears. The scoreboard hosts multiple boxes on the right and left corners instead of one central box versus most FPS games. The only clear answer here is so you can check your scoreboard and still have a somewhat clear peripheral vision of what is in front of you. If that is the case, this integration would be unnecessary if you are checking the scoreboard in the first place. You should quickly check or check somewhere safely.

Conclusion
Looking back at the Beta build, many issues pre-existing from that build seemed to still occur on the released version. Due to poor optimization, BF2042 struggles even on excellent hardware, not including bugs found throughout game-play or different user experience features completely missing or making the game more frustrating to access. BF2042 has high potential should they be able to address all their issues. It is also one of the most stunning-looking games of this generation.

You.. are Geralt, the white wolf. He can parry enemies from all directions and deflect crossbow bolts. Defeat great beasts and monsters. Strange powers to aid him in his favor truly.

Some minor inconveniences:
- The witcher cannot survive a jump from the second floor of a building
- Animals such as dogs and cats cannot be petted

This short story tells us of how two friends came to be. These snips are rich with details for you to discover. An interesting concept told in the steps of someone trying to recall their past. A story that is as it seems...

Great artwork and a relaxing soundtrack. Comparable to a short version of Life Is Strange.
