Performance is real bad and there are some real questionable UI/UX issues that I can't believe made it live. I probably wouldn't have left a review if Randy Pitchford wasn't also a big gaslighting goober ass idiot about the issues, but here we are.

Been a long time since a (not) mmo or survival game came out pretty polished with plenty of content that is actually paced well. This game also has great vibes just floating around the desert or zooming across the drumsand running away from the Shai-Hulud

I bought this game at launch and I was never upset, maybe a little disappointed, but the game was still awesome.

The launch was a bust, features were missing and people were reasonably upset but a vocal group of users who took it too far made sure this games name was dragged through the dirt and even went as far as threatening the developers lives. This was too extreme and I wouldn't have blamed Hello Games for packing up and moving on. Even at launch this game was fun, it wasn't an all encompassing universe with a ton of content that you could play for years, but it was a lot of fun and had some groundbreaking tech/features.

The developers at this point had two options, move on or continue to try their best. Most developers would have moved on, maybe released some paid DLC to try and milk a little more money out of the game, but not these guys. Hello Games has done nothing short of a development miracle. They've hunkered down and released patch after patch of free updates, fleshing out the game's mechanics, adding tons of content, and now at this point have created something that resembles the inital vision of the game and then some.

Despite all the hate and bad press, the community around this game has kept moving forward and those who have played through from launch until now have discovered the charming and awesome things this game has to offer. After every FREE content update this game is flooded with new things to do and has grown into one of the best games I've ever played.

Tomorrow the NEXT update releases and HG has worked hard on their baby. There have been a ton of leaks so far and the update looks incredible, somehow even better than the ones beforehand and although the game always had a good sized active community, it seems like the playerbase is booming again.

Kudos Hello Games, you've taken your small team and built something all AAA game studios should strive for and you did it without following their shady business models or practices. I would gladly support your future developments and I'm happy to have been able to follow along in your journey.

2023 Update: I always come back to this game and it's always better than I left it. I still can't believe what Hello Games has been able to deliver and continues to iterate on. 10/10

After 5 hours I already feel like I have gotten my moneys worth and I've only just started. I don't really write reviews but this game hit a bunch of boxes for me.

- The combat is very remenicent of DMC or Beyonetta but so far I am liking it much more. It feels very fluid and responsive and you have lots of ways to change it up even at the start.

- The graphics are beautiful, it runs really well on my 1070 which I understand is a higher end card but my set up is only about $1400 CDN so nothing special. I love the visuals and the character animations while fighting

- The story so far has me sucked in, I love the world and characters and their dialogue is great so far. I wish every single line from every one off NPC was voice acted but I'm going to be reading everything and talking to everyone.

I will update this review if I feel there is more to add but right now I don't see how this could turn into a negative review. Thank you for the awesome experience !

Pay to win.

I've played a ton of MMOs over the last ~15 years and at a ton of different levels. Some at the top of the ladder for pvp and pve content and I believe I know what makes for good progression and rewarding gameplay, this game has neither. You will not enjoy this game at end game if thats what you're into MMOs for, so you should stay away from this unless you just like leveling up characters.

First, Neverwinter has many items that are only accessible through the cash shop for pretty crazy prices. I have a good job and could afford these no problem and so I did buy myself a mount and a few pets and other items (This was a waste, before I realized the grind).

The biggest issue with this game is that you will spend countless hours grinding to get your character powered up for end game content except there is no real limit to reach for, and as you get more powerful it takes even more grinding to advance. To get your character to a decent spot requires a ton of investment and even then you will always be beaten by someone whos played longer or who spends more cash than you do. Pair this with the fact that the end game content isn't even all that fun, and you will be grinding the same encounters over and over, this game is a mess.

Some quick points about this game:

- A lot of story is locked behind paid DLCs
- Cash shop items are necessary to be competitive
- You will never be at the level of other people who've played longer than you
- Balance is not great, certain classes dominate PvP
- PvE is a bit of a joke, there are a decent amount of dungeons and encounters but its all either easy or just requires you to power up enough to output enough damage/heals, your skill as a player doesn't really factor that much

I wanted to like this game because it really is fun at the start, but by the time you get to the meat of any mmo, the end game, you've already invested a lot of time and thats why I personally kept playing longer. The company is extremely greedy and has shown time and time again they won't change. Go play world of warcraft or FFXIV if you want rewarding gameplay and progression that actually makes sense.

Years after I bought this the updates have been so few and lacking content - I would not recommend this game to anyone, development is dead, regardless if they add a new gun every few months.

Really great game, don`t want to play any more until character wipes are finished so I can fully enjoy it.
