GM bias has made me change my review, can't believe this game is just run like a big private server. How do you expect to have an audience when your game masters choose sides. Of all my hours just for my time to be wasted by biased decisions. When this game dies just know its your fault Star Vault.

So my current 61.1 hrs has been just 1 war and I would like to share my first impressions.

When you start you will have a ton of questions. I was told there was a bootcamp, but I never took it. I instead was taught by the players themselves, they worked me through how building works or how you should aim in the corner of your screen as it gives you more sight than anything else. Any questions I had were solved by players in game and being a hands on learner this really helped.

The players are pretty friendly as far as my experience goes. Although I have noticed a LOT of what I call "Faction Pride" which is really just people insulting the other team, most of it is just trash talk but there are some people that take it too far but I can't really fault the game for it's community.

The combat in this game is very rewarding, although agitating when you start because you believe its mostly rng and that's why you miss, but I didn't know to hit someone you NEED the cursor on the target, not in front, not behind. The more you play the more tricks you learn about the combat, like any other game.

Building/Logistics in this game is surprisingly VERY entertaining. I can imagine there are players that only build or do logistics, they tend to go hand in hand. Everything is built by players, every foxhole, every gun, every sand bag, everything. It's impressive how the war functions as you need logi's but the player decides if they want to do that or not. There are no roles you are what you want to be. The building is simplistic enough to not be too hard yet has the depth to be entertaining and not drain you mentally while you support the front line.

This game has a problem with team balance. I played as a colonial during my first war, and it wasn't really even a fight. The wardens had tactics, strats, and a much better logi team as they were probably two tiers of tech ahead of us the entire time. Every time we'd make any sort of advancing push, they would bring out some sort of new tech that just deletes us because we weren't ready.
EVERY fight as a colonial is "Just push the frontline :)" which most of the time isn't an effective strategy. I found it more fun to be a partisan, which is just someone who attacks or disrupts the backline making it more difficult for the frontline to receive resources.

According to https://foxholestats.com/ colonials have lost 6 times in a row, this includes my war. Looking into the past it seems it was balanced at one point but according to people I've met in game, the population is dropping resulting in team balance issues.

TL;DR
The game is really fun but has team balance issues

This game is actually really fun. I came in skeptical thinking I'd refund within the two hours, but I got sucked into the game because the zombies are sound/look terrifying, nights are long, and terrifying, the crafting system is extensive and its fun to fortify a place and defend from the dead. Guns go boom and sticks go thwack. Very satisfying combat. Being able to power a house is very nice too. I highly recommend picking this up especially if its on sale. The one thing this game is lacking is players, which is most likely because of its terrible launch. But despite that the devs kept on truckin' and made a really decent game for what is there currently and their future plans are on their discord.

I just hope the next gods are not as nearly as broken as the morrigan.
I've had too many games where the entire UI breaks and abilities that have a ghost before using stay on the map forever.

Other than that, decent game I guess.

Also the inability for this company to fix an item and completely remove it instead is sad...

This game is an amazing free to play honsetly, I think it should be a purchasable game so that there will be more money put into this game and less trolls and hackers/exploiters in the game. I'd also like to point out if you are having troubles with the games performance, download the latest version of java (Currently Java 8 Update 45) it boosted my FPS to 100 instead of 45.
