TL;DR: Extremely buggy. Needs another year to stew and polish at the minimum. I would not spend $20 on this, let alone the $30 it is planned to become. Luckily, I didn't have to.

It is the second iteration of their overly-ambitious SCP: Ascension project, which first entered development back in 2017, with Pandemic being a posed as a gameplay demo for release in Q1 2019. Development reportedly began in 2019 for Pandemic, leaving almost 3 years this has been in development for.

For a game that is marked a lore-rich in the community tags, explanation of the reasoning to why the player is in the facility is regrettably not built upon, only that they are here to raid and destroy the facility.. The reason for your presence is not expanded upon, the agency or force that you represent as the player is also not expanded upon, albeit inferred to be hostile as you are poised to kill site security and D-Class personnel alike.

Unfortunately, there's not much more information than that. You can complete the game in one singular playthrough with staggering lack of replayability. The changes between the release as of this review and the last beta are few and far between. The enemies are very similar, with a slight model change between them with a total of four different models. With hordes of these infected, it gets very samey very quickly.

There are a considerable amount of bugs, ranging from soft-locking bugs involving a main plot objective towards the end of the game; to enemy AI completely deciding to ignore you. As of writing, the dedicated server version is not working and all "official" servers are outdated, so players resort to P2P. Only to fall through the map when the host strays too far from others as culling is based on the host, not the local client.

The game can improve yet, but as for an early access release, there's nothing worth purchasing here. In a year or two they may have a product that I can say I recommend. Just not today.

The game is great, but the amount of cheaters completely ruin the experience. You WILL find a cheater every other game.
