His name is 47 because he has 47 chromosomes, yep, Agent 47 has super autism, there, that's the plot.
Almost half of the missions in this game are nigh impossible to beat without playing through them at least 10 times to fully understand what the ♥♥♥♥ even is going on, and I absolutely despise the guy who made the pier bomb mission, you suck buddy. There's no quicksave, if you simply walk in a way that one of the guards don't like you're over and done, pray that the mission you're particularly bad at isn't a 25-minute one, because then it's going to become a 2 and a half hour crusade against your body, mind and soul. This game is bullcrap and I actually really like it, it's soulful as ♥♥♥♥ the OST by Jesper Kyd goes too damn hard, it's crazy how little Hitman has changed in its basic formula because they really nailed most of the feel the first time, obviously though it was a diamond in the rough, the rest of the franchise is basically just adjusting this game to be better, Contracts even remade some missions from this one there because I'm sure IO Interactive knows this game is wildly outdated, and yes I'm going to be that guy everyone hates and say this needs a full modern remake, it deserves it.

They fixed all the visual problems I had in the EA, with this 1.0 patch, so despite all the hiccups with the release I'm just really glad to finally be able to play the cleanest version of this game I've played yet, and it's damn good.

I wish I had a dad like Ethan Winters that would go through absolute mold hell to save me, in reality, my dad wouldn't even play this game to completion if it meant saving my life.

Horror franchises NEVER do soft reboots right, mostly because it's an almost Herculean task to end up not just playing it too safe and making an unnecessary, worse version of the original. Most of the time, it seems that the creators lack any insight and are unable to recreate what made the original good, but in a different enough manner to have it feel new at the same time. Resident Evil 7 is a masterpiece, not only in and of itself but also when looking at it through the lens of what it's trying to accomplish in a more meta manner, which is to be to the franchise now what Resident Evil 1 was to the franchise then, and it does the impossible, it really does. From the game design to the narrative beats, to the quiet yet resounding references, Resident Evil 7 is not ashamed of the cheesiness of the originals and is even less afraid to bring new horror inspirations to the franchise without losing itself in its own world. Although to those who became too involved with the lore of the franchise may find it hard to agree to any statement of the supreme quality of RE7, it's for those who have always enjoyed what Resident Evil set out to accomplish at first to realize that the franchise didn't lose its way, but instead realized what most people trying to soullessly recreate classics these days forget: When standing on the shoulders of giants, don't think of yourself as bigger, but instead see how tall you can be just by keeping yourself balanced.

Best Castlevania game since Konami gave up on the franchise.

The best thing about Retroarch is the fact that I can slap a nice CRT filter on one of my favorite SNES games, and then I can simply alt-tab to YouTube and put on "Parents Arguing" on loop. I get to truly immerse myself, all within the comfort of my desktop. Thank you, Retroarch, for giving me the ability to come closest to reliving my childhood.

If you don't have any friends to play the game with, you unlock an even more difficult version of the game where not only you have to fight against the enemies, but you're also in an everlasting struggle against the stupidity and uselessness of your AI partner.

While replaying through Revelations I could not help but be reminded of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, a TV show that was not supposed to be a TV show, it was easy to see that in its original form it was a movie, cut to pieces for market reasons, and by trying to be something it wasn't it failed completely in delivering just that. Resident Evil: Revelations mostly does the same, with its presentation trying very hard to be like a TV show for no discernible reason. From the cliffhangers (that are useless because they will be answered 5 seconds from now) to the coming and going of characters, settings and subplots (that don't change the pacing and gameplay enough to justify themselves but end up changing just enough to be an annoyance), to all the flashbacks (that serve zero purpose to the narrative outside of one throwaway scene), they try too hard in some places just to end up almost never doing anything right in terms of what they're trying to accomplish, and the dialogue is nothing to write home about, but then again, it's Resident Evil, good dialogue seems to be almost a betrayal of what it stands for. Not to say that gameplay-wise things are perfect either, the game has a few gimmicks that get old a bit too fast for their own good and there's always the ultimate realization that the game only has three real settings that you will play in so much that you'll sometimes feel like you're stuck in a loop, but despite all that, Revelations is genuinely not a bad game. When you keep in mind that this was originally a 3DS game, what they ultimately achieved here is nothing short of impressive. It has everything that forms a good Action RE game, and the exploration doesn't feel too linear, so it still maintains some of the old RE charm. The Raid Mode is also a great addition to the series, that is fun to the point of easily deserving its own standalone game. Ultimately, this is a fine game that's just a bit misguided when it comes to its presentation, Resident Evil as a series, be it in any media, should not pretend to be something that it isn't, because every time they try it, they just fail.

This game is as much of a disappointment to me as I am a disappointment to my family.

Although it lacks the B scenarios being explored to it's full potential, and the unnecessary removal of some enemy types, this remake is simply fantastic. Make sure to play it on Hardcore difficulty, where the games goes from just an action game to true Survival Horror, makes every single enemy terrifying to face and makes every bullet and herb count.
