This is the only good Paradox game!

for real, the elemental system in this game is really fun and finding random combinations that make op spells is great!

+ very fun and chill coop multiplayer (not as laggy or buggy as original release)

+ graphics are improved (but most significantly lighting and water improvements)

+ fun skill trees/progression system

+ very satisfying weapon modifications

+ melee feels up close and physical given the short range of most weapons and the gore/zombie animations

- facial animations are kinda funky (on non zombie NPC's)

- enemy upscaling in multiplayer is pretty wack (i played with a 3/4 man party and it doesn't seem to change the number of zombies, and the zombie level scales to the highest level player)

a worse version of Men At War: Assault Squad 2 OR Call to Arms: Gates of Hell Ostfront.

The game has a fun art style and funny voice lines

however it is let down by poor game play choices making the game far more arcade-ish than it should be (health bars on tanks lmao)

This game was ultimately a money grab by the developers, they exploited years of "Hype" and released an unfinished game at £40+

To my knowledge the game still has serious issues that include: bugs, optimisation, imbalance, and multiplayer neglect (they promised us private server files within 6-9 months of release, it has now been 18 months~ and as a result there are no large multiplayer communities like those that formed on Warband.

The fact that the updates are slow and do not seem to fix the games issues disappoints me and makes me lose faith in the developers.

This game is a unique experience with a lovely art style and player POV!

I absolutely adored this game for a number of years (2017-2020) and played in a clan for most of that time.

However, the reason i am leaving a negative review for this game is because I have completely lost faith in the developers to listen to the community and fix the games issues (balance, grind, overpopulation etc).

And as of posting this review there is currently a petition from players asking the developers to make changes to the game. the petition to my knowledge has reached over 500 signatures and over 1000 upvotes on reddit. this has led me to believe the developers have not changed their ways.

I loved this game for it's quirky perspective, nice art style and fun game play at a tactical (resource management) and a micro (communication/teamwork in combat) level.

The issues for me began to arise when i learned that the developers "support" the Warden faction and when they play the game, they play as Wardens. At the time the game was symmetrical and stats for vehicles and weapons were equal, so no bias was found here. however in the map, the natural choke points of the warden regions showed their bias (this issue is not fixed)

when the game became asymmetric, and the developers started adding unique vehicles and weapons to both factions, the game became unbalanced and developer bias was revealed. the Developers seemed to use the player base to beta test new content, and it would regularly take several months to "fix" unbalanced weapons/vehicles. (a prominent example being the Silverhand tank, which let the Wardens win multiple wars in a row before the issue was fixed). (specific balance issues may have been addressed by the developers, however I have lost faith in them to fix balance and bias issues.)

The logistics element of this game is one that I initially loved, however, several updates made it difficult, and overpopulation did not help. I found that due to overpopulation, materials needed to build fun equipment and vehicles were often hoovered up by the large player base, as a result there was often no where to get needed materials unless you were playing at antisocial hours (late at night/early morning etc). The developers also made some changes to logistics which made doing logistics on your own very inefficient (i found solo logistics relaxing), it was now more efficient and effective to do logistics as a group (which, when you have a group of friends online, you do not want to sit holding left mouse button on some scrap metal, you want to crew a tank together!). Due to these changes in efficiency the costs for making equipment was increased to match :/

The issue of overpopulation is immediately obvious in server queues, which in the past have taken 30-45 minutes for me to get into a server! however the less obvious effect of it is the already partially mentioned impact on logistics. Resources are harder to come by, and when you do finally make a tank or other important vehicle, you take it to the front line, only to find that there are 10 friendly tanks already there, and 10 enemy tanks sitting opposite them, both ever so slightly out of range of the other. Before the over population issues, bringing a single tank to a frontline would make a huge difference, and change the momentum of the battle! however now it simply leads to sitting in a strange arms race and not doing much.

This game has a great premise! It is a fun survival game with a vast progression system that allows you and your friends to specialise in different skills (cooking, farming, looting, crafting, mining, engineering etc). With game play that is very intuitive and easy to learn! and has a challenging level of difficulty for all players. And the randomly generated world is fantastic for a new experience each time you play! And the 'level design' on the buildings (highlighted when doing quests) is particularly good.

however the game falls short in a number of ways, the game is VERY poorly optimised for what it is. The graphics are poor (arguably an art style - if so, in my opinion it is an ugly one). the world generation and loading takes a considerable amount of time. The general 'meta' of doing the same trader quests over and over gets very repetitive, the melee combat also becomes very boring after a while (nothing but range baiting). Additionally the progression scale on the game is very strange, in the beginning you are using cave man tools, but half an hour later you have enough guns to invade afghanistan.

I am open to changing this review to a positive one if future improvements are made, as the gameplay IS FUN, but sadly the optimisation and graphics let it down.

A fast paced CSGO ish shooter, sadly plagued with toxic players, a grindy progression system to encourage micro transactions, and over powered operators (that are usually new) that are too expensive for most players (encouraging more grinding or micro transactions)

if you are expecting a tactical, grounded, slow paced, immersive shooter, you will be disappointed, as the game gets updated, more Sci Fi nonsense is added (holograms etc)
