ABOUT Language Learning Games

Language Learning Games of Steam

Video games that TEACH foreign languages!? Yes!

Welcome!

Check out the game list to the right, under the "Associated Games" panel. (On mobile, you won't see the list unless you request the desktop version of the site.)

The intention of this group (for now) is to create a comprehensive list of all "Language Learning Games" available on Steam. There is no quality control. If a game or app aims to teach a real-world spoken and/or written language, it will be included here.

Want to add a game to the list? Please join the group and let us know in the discussions!

On mobile and can’t see the Associated Games List?
If you are on a mobile browser, the associated game list will not be visible (at the time of writing this, at least!).

To view the Associated Games panel, please use the Desktop version of the Steam website. View the Desktop version by navigating to the top left menu button, and selecting “View desktop site” from the drop down navigation.

On Steam Deck and can’t see the Associated Games List?
Switch your Steam Deck to Desktop Mode and revisit the group page. Currently, I am unaware how to view the Associated Game Panel of a group's page while using the Steam Deck in Gaming Mode. If anyone knows how, please share!

Note on Non-Language-Learning-Games In List
Currently, there are 3 games in the list that are NOT language learning games. However, these games include a bilingual language swap feature that is relevant to language learning. These games are:
- Backbone
- Disco Elysium
- Dodgeball Academia

Each game listed above allows you to bind a key or gamepad button to switching the language during play. It's helpful to treat this feature as a tool for language learning.

A note to developers
One of the intentions of this group is to form an alliance of language learning game makers! Some of you may be making similar games, but you may have different networks of fans and followers.

So... please share each other's work! Get in touch with one another, say hi, have fun, and celebrate everyone's progress. Lift each other up! The more visibility each game gets, the more legitimized the language learning game 'genre' becomes.
