Hello, adventurers!

We’re thrilled to announce that our latest update for Hua Mulan: A Chinese Learning Adventure is now live! This release brings you two exciting new features—Memory Shards and the Temporal Tablet—along with a host of bug fixes and gameplay improvements inspired by your feedback.

Memory Shards: Track and Master Vocabulary in a New Dimension

We understand the importance of reinforcing the words and phrases you encounter, so we’ve added Memory Shards as an interactive way to practice. Now, whenever you get a word wrong in a conversation, a new Memory Shard is created in the game world. Equip the EchoSpect Goggles to view the world through the time void, where you can track down and engage with these Memory Shards to master your vocabulary.

New Gameplay Details:

EchoSpec Goggles: Put these on to reveal Memory Shards scattered across the environment. The time void effect gives you a glimpse into hidden dimensions, showing where you need to focus your vocabulary practice.
Pulse Feature: Left-click to send out a pulse that will guide you to the nearest Memory Shard and show a countdown of how many remain to be collected.

Temporal Tablet: In-Game Dictionary, Quest Log, and Progress Tracking

Responding to your requests for an in-game dictionary, we’ve packed the Temporal Tablet with powerful features:

Vocabulary Dictionary: Track all the words you’re learning in Hua Mulan, including those that need extra practice.
Quest Log: View both active and completed quests to keep track of your progress.
Progress Overview: Check out your learning journey at a glance, with detailed insights on vocabulary mastery and gameplay achievements.

Bug Fixes and Gameplay Improvements

This update also includes a range of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. Here’s a highlight of what’s changed:

Improved NPC Interactions: Dialogue and response times have been optimized to make conversations smoother.
Enhanced Quest Tracking: You can now see your quest progress more clearly with the updated interface.
Performance Optimization: The game should feel more fluid and responsive, especially in high-action sequences.

Personally I don't mind janky-

But I would like to see a big number of content (10-20 hours) Like if the graphics are made pretty low it enables to create worlds faster than trying to make everything perfect- which is fine. I like insightful and thought provoking stories over anything (generally speaking in video games that is.) But a reviewer mentioned the game lasts for around 1 hour which is waay too little in my opinion. It needs a lot more content, like I said personally I don't mind the janky I've played classics like Half-Life 1...

We’re excited to share a sneak peek at two new features we’re working on for Hua Mulan: A Chinese Learning Adventure—Time Shards and the Temporal Tablet. These additions are designed to elevate your learning experience and provide personalized, engaging ways to master Chinese vocabulary. We're also thrilled to announce that Chapter 2 is in its final stages and will be available soon!

Time Shards: Your Personalized Learning Tool

Learning a new language is a journey, and everyone has words and phrases that need a bit more practice. To address this, we're introducing Time Shards—a fun and interactive way to reinforce your vocabulary skills.

How It Works

When you get a word wrong during conversations with NPCs, a new Time Shard is created. These shards are fractures in time you need to repair. To interact with these shards, you’ll use the EchoSpect Goggles, a special device that lets you see and engage with the Time Shards scattered throughout the game world.

The EchoSpect Goggles:

The EchoSpect Goggles are set to transform your learning experience. By wearing these goggles, you can spot the Time Shards scattered throughout the environment. Each shard contains a word or phrase that needs attention. Interacting with these shards will help you reinforce your understanding and ensure you master the vocabulary and get home.

The Temporal Tablet: Track Your Progress

Alongside the Time Shards, we’re introducing the Temporal Tablet. This handy tool will keep track of your Time Shards and overall progress with both vocabulary and quests.

Features:

Progress Tracking: Monitor your mastery of vocabulary words and see which ones you need to practice more.
Quest Log: Keep an eye on your quest progress and see how far you’ve come in your adventure with Mulan.
Interactive Learning: The Temporal Tablet will provide tips and feedback based on your interactions with the Time Shards, helping you focus on areas that need improvement.

Wrapping Up Chapter 2

We’re also excited to let you know that Chapter 2 is nearly complete and will be available soon. In this chapter, you’ll finally meet Mulan and help her prepare for her journey by gathering necessary supplies.
