Play Doom eternal 👍
I can recommend plenty of games to you. It depends on the genre or types of games you like.
Tell me your 5 favorite gaming genres and your 5 favorite games ever. I'll give you some good recommendations the best I can. I like and have played a lot of different games and genres. I tend to lean more into horror related stuff personally.
Edit: If you are not opposed there is a plethora of stuff you can emulate.
I'll give it a go.
RPG, Turn Based Strategy, Adventure, Survival, Simulation.
IL-2 Strumovik, Conker's Bad Fur Day, GTA 4, Red Orchestra: Ostfront, Shogun 2: Total War.
Been wanting a couple RPG's or Strategy games in the $15-30 range.
My 5 genres are single player, RPG, soulslike, whatever type of RPG genre that has real time combat, and my last genres is an odd one but it's tactical RPGs ( mainly I just like fire emblem awakening, wasteland 3 and Valkyria Chronicles )
2 Parts as it may not let me do a single post. This is not a best games list or even everything. Just some of my favorites or games I consider to be good.
EDIT: Added in some links that apply. I also want to share https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/ with anyone who reads this. It's a solid source for PC game tweaks/workarounds/fixes and mods to improve most games out there. This site can save your ass trust me.
First Part -
[Adventure] - Broad range of games and some genre crossover, but here are some good ones IMO.
-Actraiser 1 - SNES - Unique Action/SIM
-Alan Wake - I played original. Haven't played the Remaster but that is probably the best one.
-Alien - Isolation - Best Aliens game made so far.
Increase Graphics -

Custom Stories -
https://www.moddb.com/games/amnesia-the-dark-descent/mods
-Amnesia 1 - Custom Story - "Amadeus". Rivals the base game IMO. -
https://www.moddb.com/mods/amadeus

-Bioshock Series - Must play series
-Castlevania Series
-Cat Lady - Dark themes, thought provoking

Evil Within 1 -
https://www.nexusmods.com/theevilwithin/mods/3
Evil Within 2 -
https://www.nexusmods.com/theevilwithin2/mods/4
-Fatal Frame Series - The first 3 are great. As a long standing fan of the series, the Re-release of FF - Maiden In Black on PC is pretty bad in comparison.
-Fear Series - HD Upscale mod for 1 on Nexus...
You kind of need to dig for the Upscale download on here. He has it linked from another of his mods instead of giving it its own dedicated mod page.
HD Upscale -

Mouse / FPS Issue Fix -
Please use this mod if playing with mouse/keyboard. Otherwise you will have unplayable framerate. The old method was to go into Device Manager in Windows and under "Human Interface Devices" you would have disable all devices that say HID, then re-enable when done playing. I use this file myself, it is safe...
https://community.pcgamingdwiki.com/files/file/789-directinput-fps-fix/
-Firewatch
-Flashback - SNES - Don't play the remake.
-Gabriel Knight Series - Point/Click
-God Of War Classic Series - I hope the classic 6 games get a re-release.
-Grim Fandango - Remaster - Quirky, nothing else like it.
-Half-Life 1 & 2 Series - I would recommend...
Black Mesa - https://store.steampowered.com/app/362890/Black_Mesa/

-I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream - Weird and not talked about much anymore
-Journeyman Project Series
-King's Quest Classic Series - Point/Click - Sierra

-Outlast Series
-Penumbra Series - Awesome and forgotten horror series. Made by developers of Amnesia. Hd Upscale mods on Nexus. Also 2 complete mod games on Nexus that extend the story. You will need Amnesia 1 to play these. If you love Amnesia play this series.
HD Upscale Mod - You can find versions for all three original games -

-Phantasmagoria - Sierra - Crazy FMV horror game. Point/Click
I got this when it came out it was on 7 CDs in a nice bound case with sleeves. This was a pretty graphic horror game at the time. I can't believe Roberta Williams who made King's Quest made this too.
-Portal Series
-Resident Evil Series
-Sanitarium - Forgotten horror game. Point/Click
-Scratches - Point/Click - Really creepy Point/Click. Its not on Steam or GOG.
-Sekiro - Ninja Dark Souls
Nice Checklist to reference while playing...

-Silent Hill Series - Silent Hill 2 has a fan made HD Remaster that is available and wonderful. You will need SH2 - Directors Cut on PC to utilize it. I couldn't tell you where to get it, thanks Konami. SH2 on PC with this mod is the definitive way to play this game. It proves Konami could have done it with the right people.

-Shadowgate Classic - NES
-Shadowgate - Remake - It's cool in its own way. I'm not gonna say its a Souls Like. I will say if you like the atmosphere of Dark Souls and such. The Remake may be visually appealing to you if nothing else.
-Soma - Same developers as Amnesia. If you're into this game there are some decent Story mods out there. Just not the huge amount Amnesia has.

-Space Quest Series - Sierra - One of the first games I played on PC was Space Quest II.
-Stalker Series - May fall under Survival. Very good and holds up today.
-Still Life Series - Point/Click Investigator/Horror
-Syberia Series - Point/Click - Amazing games. 1 & 2 are classics and they flow right together. 3rd is pretty terrible. A 4th game is out now, looks promising.

-Thief Classic Series - Adventure/Stealth - The Thief reboot is playable but not as good as originals.
-Thing - Unique game play and even though its an older game its pretty creepy at times. Follows after the end of the Kurt Russell movie version.
-Tomb Raider Series -

-Uncharted Series
-Walking Dead - Definitive - Some may not like due to its game play - Good narrative
-What Remains Of Edith Finch - Walking Simulator, but a good one.
-White Day - Labyrinth Named School - Lesser known game. I've played both original and remake. You can play the original still for free on ModDB. It's considered abandon-ware or something. I think like one guy is keeping some builds of it going. Expect some technical issues or twerking "leaving that typo lol" you will need to do. If you are really curious here you go...
https://www.moddb.com/games/white-day/downloads
Go with the remake. It is faithful to original and a more complete experience. It's a cult fan favorite type game, hate it or love it, it's a very unique game. Here is a Guide and a Checklist reference to go with the guide. Please note that the Guide isn't mine just my conversion of the guides info into the Checklist format. It is also notated in my Checklists FAQ. If you like my Checklist, thank you. Please go to Original Guide and let "H.B. Lovecraft" know. I basically wanted to learn how to make one of these Checklists, so I did.

A Guide To Get All 10 Endings -
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1527782791
-Zelda Series - My favorite will always be Link To The Past on SNES
-Tons more Adventure games on NES/SNES
-Chrono Trigger - Lots of ways to play it.
-Dark Souls - Remastered... my favorite Souls game.
A handy Checklist reference...
https://smcnabb.github.io/dark-souls-cheat-sheet/
-Diablo Series... I've only played 1 & 2 but they are still great fun today.
-Final Fantasy I-VI - Pixel Remasters - If you like these games, this is a must get. They look and sound great. Here are some very useful modding guides. First thing if nothing else is to get a better Font mod to replace the thin one used in the games. If you find a Font you love you can use it across all 6 games. If you have never played these games, give them a chance. If you are a new player to the classic series and just played FFI. Know that FF2 leveling system differs. It is still a great game but most peoples least favorite in the classic series.
I - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2786697005
II - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2787152070
III - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2787489586

VI - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2788537097
-Kingdoms Of Amalur - Remaster - The story IMO is insufferable, it drags on and is convoluted. The game play is fun though for sure.
-Secret Of Mana - Lots of ways to play it.
-System Shock 2 - Of all the RPGs if you like horror and RPGs. Please play this one. You may want to reference some beginners tips so you don't get overwhelmed. System Shock 1 is a good one too, but not comparable to System Shock 2. The first game is like a overly complicated DOOM. There are a ton of good mods I can direct you to that will enhance this game a lot...

-Tons more RPGs on SNES.
[Simulation]
-American Truck Simulator (Given that I play mostly Horror related games, but yet I have 1,148hrs in this game) Put some mp3s in the games music folder and chill.
-Flight Simulator
-Spintires / Mudrunners / Snowrunners
[Survial]
The Forest
Valheim
[Turn-Based]
This is not really a genre I am too familiar with. I am not the one to recommend.
You mentioned "Red Orchestra: Ostfront"
Call Of Duty Series - Early World War games.
Medal Of Honor Series
Some links in above list I didn't want to double post.
-Arx Fatalis is an interesting one you may be into. Here is a HD Upscale for it...
https://www.moddb.com/mods/arx-neuralis
-Bioshock Series
-Blasphemous - Souls Like Sort Of - Playing now and its cool.
-Demon's Souls - I've only played PS3 version, Remake is probably what you want.
-Diablo 1 & 2
-Dishonored Series
-Dragon Age Series
-Dragon's Dogma
-Evil Within Series
-Fable
-God Of War Classic Series
-Gothic Series
-Kingdom Hearts Series
-Kingdoms Of Amalur - Remaster
-Lords Of The Fallen - Souls Like
-Planescape - Torment
-Secret Of Mana
-Sekiro
-Stalker Series
-Styx - Master Of Shadows
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=471295517
-Styx - Shards Of Darkness
My game-play tip... to toss bodies off ledges like the first game. You need to hold "Cover/Hang" and walk off ledges while holding body. If you try to toss them off like normal in Styx 1 the guards just get stuck in the floor.
-Sekiro
-System Shock 2 - I would also recommend to you. Sci-fi/Horror/RPG/Talent Specs
-Tormentium - Dark Sorrow
If you like Dark Souls then you'll probably dig the art style in this one. It isn't a Souls-Like.
Path of Exile
The new update will use the more up to date csgo version of the source engine.
My first playthrough of Half-Life² was with this updated version.
It's pretty fun. It mainly fixes bugs and updates the graphics. But just slightly.
Especially off-map detail is increased by a lot, the backgrounds are just much less empty.
So it's just that, an update. Imo the best version to play half-life 2 today due to the slightly better graphics and the bug fixes.
