xsotan won't leave a sector
So I have my home sector and there is a nice little scrapyard a couple of jumps away. The problem is Xsotan jumped into the sector (like 11 of them) and it has become VERY difficult to deal with them. They all have shields, each one has like 200 weapon strength and by the time I kill maybe one or two of them, another subspace signal starts and soon enough the number jumps up by another 6 or so.

Will they eventually just warp away if I stay around but far away from them? I've noticed that the subspace signal literally follows me everywhere I go so I'm not sure.

Any tips on dealing with them? I have a decent ship but my shields can't handle the damage from 11 of them at once and my fighters are awful.

They won't warp out of your sector in the current build, maybe in later builds. At the moment the best you can do is to upgrade your ship end destroy them. However, others will come to your sector when you are in.

If you don't want them in your sector, you need to jump into another sector, when you get the notice that the signal goes stronger. Wait till they appear and go back to your sector. But this will get very annoying after a while, so the best would be to have a strong ship to easy deal with them.
You need enough fire power, check out this ship its not even that big frigate class but it holds enough firepower to kill itself: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=863085950

20k firepower. yea. Well, in a perfect world in creative I'd have that sort of firepower, but that's just not where I'm at lol.

Actually that can be had in normal mode, do realize creative does not give you the ability to have any weapon it only gives you unlimited resources not items.

That loadout is overkill even for the area your in you should be able to do well with 8k firepower.

Firepower is great, but it doesn't solve everything. Unless you have a tanky, powerful ship, you need to fight smarter. All those xsotan ships, they're just like any other group of enemies, they're a mixed group of ship size and strengths. So, you fight them like you would any group of enemies in any game... you draw them out so you're not fighting them all at once.

You pull back in a strategic retreat... and yes, go in reverse if that's what it takes. You draw the smaller, faster ships away from the bigger, slower ships. You get enough space that you can deal with the smaller ships before the bigger ships catch up. Continuing that strategic retreat while fighting if you have to. When you pick targets, you take out the most dangerous ones first; i.e. the ones doing the most damage to your shields. If you need to, you pull back to recharge your shields... balancing that with trying not to let your enemies recharge as well. Keeping in mind that they can't do field repairs like you can, so you can win a war of attrition if need be.

Oh, and the resources you've blown on a hangar... yeah, sounds like that would be better spent on a bigger shield generator, coupled with a nice shield booster upgrade.

I do agree there I find the hangars a bit useless atm sense we cant make custom fighter ships.

fighters are useless right now. they are too weak in firepower early on to do much and too weak to survive later...

I agree even my custom designed fighters have more firepower, its to bad i cant use em in hangars and deployment.

Create in creative mode but then rebuilt in normal one, dont mind the yellow stuff its only because i didnt have any crew aboard the ship, once fully crewed this ship is a beast on all stats.

For me it is 360 degree combat.. try playing in a hostile sector.. fun times.. though you get gobs of upgrades/drops. I do well with just 1K firepower, just widdling ships down then finishing them off on another pass. I've cleared 2 sectors of ships hostile and with alien/pirates. I've tried to improve relations with the cleared sectors but headhunters warp in and I have to destory them ruining the relation progress. :/ I could go back a few sectors and sell all my loot.. but meh..

You can now run 20KM away from headhunters to warp out.

This should actually not change, as it would be counter to the lore of the game. They should remain until they destroy everything. They should not warp out.

The galaxy is big enough that there simply is no reason for someone to -need- to be safe in any sector. If one can't figure out how to kill off xsoten in a sector, they should move on, and come back only if they -really- want to.

Snap, really appreciate all the tips! Was at work sorry for not responding. I'm definitely going to be rebuilding my carrier. I was hoping to eventually build something similar to the Nyx (a super carrier) from Eve Online but fighters are just so bad right now. I wasted a TON of resources on it. I might just take off everything and delete it. I'll have like almost 60k of every resource up to Xanion (sp) so I think I'll make something smaller but with 1 - 2k firepower.

Keep the tips coming please! What type of weapons do you guys prefer for taking out npcs?

My first ship goal was the wyvern, but had the same beef once i started using fighters. They are buggy, and essentially useless, considering the costs that come along with them... Though it looks like in time, that'll be changed.

I've been liking cannons mostly. There's just something satisfying about them both firing, and hitting things..

I prefer a mix of weapons and ranges. A few cannons/rails for longer ranges - to start softening targets before they get closer and to fight at a stond-off range if needed. But those overheat, so you need medium range, extended combat weapons too. For that, I run a mix of chainguns, plasma, lightning, and longer range lasers. Plasma rips into shields. The rest covers a good mix of damage types while maintaining good DPS; supplemented by the punch of the cannons/rails at close range.
