SteamVR Mirror outputting low FPS
ISSUE
I noticed that the FPS in the SteamVR Mirror is low. I've read a lot of people recently have this issue who own a Oculus or a WMR HMD. The game seems to only be low FPS because whenever I open the SteamVR Dashboard it's outputting at 60FPS. I use a plugin in OBS called OpenVR which grabs the SteamVR Mirror and outputs it in OBS, I have checked both in the SteamVR Mirror and in OBS that this issue still persists.

Here is a video of the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO7j_KKUj4c
*PLEASE WATCH 720P 60FPS*

OS
Windows 10 Version 1909

VR HMD
Oculus Rift S

SPECS
2070 Super
Ryzen 7 2700X
16GB 3200MHZ

I have tried both SteamVR Beta and Without.

Any help or fix for this would be very helpful!

WMR and even Pimax users are also facing a similar issue. Steam VR View and OpenVR games are both capped at 30 fps but not the overlays. The Valve Index seems to be unaffected.

There is an app there with a spinning dial that you can use to check your FPS.

For Oculus I think you can use Oculus Mirror to see if that captures at the higher FPS.

If somebody has a Vive and can try this out it be neat.

Yeah I read up on it in other threads and such, I'll have a look with the Oculus mirror later today but isn't this issue relatively new? I'll check out the app aswell. I could ask my friend who has a vive if they're affected by it.

Yes, this issue is quite new.

My videos from late Feb were fine and another user mentioned early March recordings are fine.

I probably need to find if there is a way to rollback to an older version of SteamVR before the current stable to see if that can solve this problem.

If you find a fix please let me know! Or somehow be able to roll it back, hopefully Steam gets ontop of this quickly as it only affects the framerate of the game and not the SteamVR Overlay UI

Please do post a fix if anyone finds it. I was hoping to at least us LIV to get captures while this is a thing, but that's crashing for me on launch now too.

Same problem here with Pimax. Any updates?

No updates as of now which is extremely unfortunate.

If Yuwi is still reading this thread, someone has managed to put up clear and easy to follow rollback instructions are posted on this thread here and it works!

Oh they found a fix? Nice! Although I sold my Rift S and reserved an Index so I won't be having that problem anymore aha. Thanks for updating though! I'll pin it as the correct reply :)

Extra Bumping. Please examine this issue Valve. It's crippling for VR recordings on other platforms other than Valve's hardware.

Bumping this, definitely needs to be looked at and fixed ASAP. Streamers are tryna sell these VR games for ya, Valve. Help us out!
Tiger Johnson 28 jul. 2020 às 11:08
5 months into this bug and not a single peep from anyone at Valve in any of the Steam or Reddit threads I'm monitoring. Such a bummer and pain in the ass.

SOLUTION FOR OCULUS!!!!

C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusMirror.exe

Documentation here:
https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/native/pc/dg-compositor-mirror/

Full FPS output + overlays at full FPS.

You can do it as a game capture in OBS.

Yeesh! Step the game up Valve!
