Steam Link:

"Waiting for host" screen will now wait before displaying, meaning the app will transition straight to stream rather than the UI displaying.
Small improvements to stream startup speed.
Add additional errors to display if it's a video code error/video network error.
Fix a few bugs around stream transitions to UI.
Improve link establishment reliability in networks with occasional packet loss.

OpenXR:

Fix case where vive tracker bindings would all be bound to the first suggested binding.

To fully utilize the updates to Steam Link in this beta version of SteamVR, you must join the Steam Link Public Beta channel for the Meta app. To join, you must install Steam Link to your Meta headset, then you can opt into the Public Beta channel using this link https://www.meta.com/s/1hti7gedQ from your phone, or by using the Meta application on your phone to select the Public Beta channel in the settings for the Steam Link application.

Today's release includes a variety of bug fixes and quality of life improvements across SteamVR, Steam Link, and Linux. An updated version of Steam Link for Meta Quest devices is being released at the same time.

We continue to focus on OpenXR as our preferred API for new games and applications. SteamVR’s official OpenXR subforum is here and we’d love to hear your feedback, as well as suggestions for new features.

SteamVR:

Fixed a bug where compatibility mode would fail for certain controller / HMD combinations and legacy input titles.
This release has an experimental feature allowing overlays to use controller simulation in bindings.
Disabled AMD Wireless VR driver by default. You can reenable it under startup/shutdown manage addons. This is a wireless driver installed by the AMD GPU driver that can interfere with some new, asynchronous paths in SteamVR.
Detect when AMD drivers were installed, but no AMD card is present, preventing "Error 309" and other crashes when loading LiquidVR.
Fixed some localization issues in the binding UI.
Fixing missing haptic component in some vive tracker profiles.
Fixing some scenarios where the menu button didn't work on HTC wrist trackers.
Add ability for Vive tracker haptic pogo pins to be bound.

Steam Link:
Steam VR 2.5 release corresponds to Steam Link client version 2.0.8.748

Improved prediction for increased lateral tracking stability.
Fix initialization issue causing connection failure. Requires client and server to both be updated.
Fix issue causing persistent failure when headset goes into standby and returns.
Fix deadlock on host when USB devices are inserted or removed.
Resolved two client crashes.
Fix an issue with video encoder initialization on certain AMD integrated GPUs.

OpenXR:

Fix Vive tracker menu pogo pin not being mapped correctly for OpenXR apps.

Linux:

Add support for direct mode drivers (IVRDriverDirectModeComponent) on Linux.
Improved launch scripts and log capture for bug reports.
Fixed random colors appearing at the periphery of the right eye's viewable area.
Fixed SteamVR Home launch script.
Fixed an SDL compatibility problem on Fedora.

Quest 3 Volume Button starting "Laser Mouse"

Using SteamVR after 2 Months again and now whenever i'm starting SteamVR in my Quest 3, the Volume Buttom function as Mouse click instead of adjusting the Volume. Checked all the Settings but cant find a way to disable this behaivor. I would like to control the volume with the volume buttons on the Quest 3 instead of getting back to the SteamOverlay and function as a kind of mouse / mouse click. Anybody else experienced this? Steam vr completely broken?

I am using a quest 2 that i got a little while ago to use as a virtual desktop. I really wanted to use desktop+ with this. However steam vr keeps giving the video encoder error (499). I am also a little lost as to where to look for more info on the subject. I am using AMD Ryzen 5 5600x 6-core AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT So might anyone have some information on this subject? Mouse cursor disappears on half the screen

When I enable SteamVR, the screen goes black for a moment. Then, on my desktop, the mouse cursor disappears but on only HALF the screen (right half) on my primary monitor. Can anybody with a Quest 3 check VR View with "both eyes - left (or right) dominant" and see if they're getting the same thing I'm getting? I don't get this with the Bigscreen Beyond. https://imgur.com/a/7jnrll4 What I'm thinking is happening is that it's grabbing the bottom part of the lens rather than the middle and it's resulting in also grabbing the edge of the left (in my case) lens.
