Unable to Use Custom Resolution
I'm trying to play Monster Hunter Wilds at 3200x1800 on my 4K monitor for better performance while maintaining visual quality. This resolution works in other games like Escape From Tarkov which also has terrible optimisation, but MH Wilds doesn’t seem to recognise it, even though it's available in Windows.

Currently, I get 85-90 FPS with DLSS 4 and frame generation enabled, but at 3K, I’d likely reach 100-105 FPS with minimal visual loss. Is there a way to enable this resolution whilst keeping the same DLSS setting, or does the game not support custom resolutions?

For example when I use DLSS Performance at 4k, it upscales from 1920x1080, while if I'm using a resolution of 3200x1800 with the same performance DLSS it will upscale from 1600×900.

I can't really achieve this without being able to set my resolution to the custom rez I want, if I set my DLSS to Ultra Performance right now it will upscale from 1280x720 which I don't want.
Looking for the same thing.
Seems like were the only ones though, doing stuff like this to get better performance while keeping visual clarity.

I figured out how to do this, I wasn't able to get the game running at 3200x1800 native, but I used DLSS tweaks to create a custom scaling factor of 0.42 for Ultra Performance instead of 0.33 which is the default, which essentially up scales from a scaling factor between DLSS Performance (0.5) and DLSS Ultra Performance (0.33).

Essentially it scales up from (0.416) which uses 1600x900 as the base resolution, which still looks quite clean compared to upscaling from 1280x720.

To achieve this you need to create a custom .DLL named dxgi.dll, you can use DLSS Tweaks to do this and that can be downloaded here, when creating the DLL you will need to specify the customs caling factor for Ultra Performance using the tool they provide:
https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/550

However in order for the game not to crash, you also need to run ReFramework which can be downloaded here too:
https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterwilds/mods/93

Aside from this I suggest also replacing the DirectStorage DLL's with updated ones as the game uses outdated ones by default, this reduced stuttering in a big way for me:

I'm having the same issue, custom resolution of 3800x2138 but I want to set it to native 4k. What would be my best approach for this?

You can do all of that without DLSS Tweaks or a custom DXGI DLL, that's going to trigger CAPCOM's anti-tamper. Special K can do all of that.

Can special K help my issue as well? I want to run to native 4k resolution but because mine custom is slightly below that it doesn't give me the option. If so how do I do it

optiscaler instead of special k

You can use custom resolutions, yes. Set the game to borderless fullscreen and select whatever resolution you want from SK's Display menu.

They work together, yes, but Optiscaler will just crash the game immediately if you try to load it on its own.

I have been playing without any crashes or anything using the method I described, there's also some DirectStorage DLL Replacements and other .dll replacements on NexusMods as for some reason Capcom is using outdated ones, it does require you to have ReFramework active haven't heard of Special K but will check it out.

this is insane to me holy cow
same struggle using DSR factors
Alex Mar 5 @ 4:56pm
Only problem with using DSR factors is I'd imagine it has more of a performance impact than just using DLSS, let me know if you get the try the custom scaling and get it working.

REFramework doesn't let you select DSR resolutions. If you don't have anything helpful to contribute to the discussion, why are you here?

Open SK's Display menu, select your DSR resolution, you're done. 2 clicks.

You can also do all that stuff with DLSS resolution scales if you need to from the same UI (right-click the DLSS quality level to set custom scales):

DirectStorage overrides are available too:

I'm sorry I have one tool that does every thing discussed in this thread, next time I have a solution for every one of the problems I'll just let you guys suffer :)

To be honest, the display settings is not working for me
