DLC - Play them BEFORE Hoover Dam Battle
Just a heads up to any other new players.

Make sure to explore and go through the DLC before you do the final Dam mission. You won't be able to continue afterwards.

It seems we have to do as much as we can/want before the final Choice. So bare that in mind.

I just finished the game, at level 24, was looking forward to going through the DLC's. But the game just ends** - Googling shows this a well known thing, and loading an old save the solution.

** - There are several mods over at nexus here's one. CAGE Mod [www.nexusmods.com]

I wonder if the Mass Effect and Dragon Age forums are full of these threads too…

Yes, the ending ends the game. Why would you expect otherwise?

There is already a warning in game that it will end. Did you not pay attention to the huge popup that fills the screen just before going to hoover dam saying so?

The popup was written before the DLC existed. It does not make it clear that by "the game" ending, it doesn't just mean the game as originally written is ending, but also that even the pieces that got added afterward won't be available either. Someone who knows about the DLC content might get the impression that the popup is just talking about the main stock game, not the DLCs too.

What's weird though is why wouldn't you make a savegame right before the point where you start something that you expect to be super hard and deadly, end of game or not? It just tactically good to do so, DLC or no.

I looks like the responses are assuming vanilla. I got the ultimate edition. Maybe I should have mentioned in the OP this is for the users whom purchased that edition.

And the big 'END OF GAME' sign everyone is going on about, says NOTHING about the Dlc not being playable afterwards. I loaded the save to read it again.

However. I, like many I assume, tend to play Dlc after the main game. And coming fresh from FO3 (Goty) - I expected it to allow me to continue.

Looks like you made too many assumptions. Humorous, given what the game explicitly tells you. I'd hate to see you around a high voltage sign.

Give the guy a break. Rookie mistake. Wheaton's Law, people.

Adam: Load an earlier save and have fun replaying some stuff, maybe do it differently this time.

The battle for Hoover Dam will determine the fate of New Vegas for decades to come.

If there's anything you want to do before you enter the battle, do it now - before you cross the point of no return.
Seems clear enough to me, a 'point of no return' generally indicates that there is no going back.

You made a mistake, just move on and learn from it.

Originally FO3 didn't let you continue either (you know, with the protagonist being dead and all…), only the one before last DLC opened up that option after even Bethesda GS had to accept the fact that everyone hated that idiotic original ending.

I love how someone comes on here to ask for help and the majority of replies are "you're dumb, I'm smart" and call it 'constructive criticism'... As New.Chaos says, give the guy a break! Sheesh, I think some ppl never got enough praise from their parents as kids, if they've grown up at all that is.

I don't think any of them even read the op. Not an ounce of help have I requested. One even posted the same link I put in the op. The op is a statement, not a question.

I simply wanted to warn other new players to do the DLC before end-game.
Ladez Jul 9, 2015 @ 5:42am
He didn't ask for help, he made a statement. People disagreed with that statement. What's wrong with that?
