The Zombie changes are a good start
So i joined a new server and started fresh after a reinstall of dayz to try the game out and the new zombies actually make the game feel like a zombie survival game where they are a threat, their damage and fighting skills are just right to make a 1v1 a challenge and a group a death sentence with melee if you dont move constantly or hide on a car and hit them. The stealth kill is ok but glitch as sometimes id press the button to stealth hit and my charater would just stand up straight and do nothing while the zombie would detect me, there really needs to be a take down animation tbh, that said the current changes are a great start to making the game a zombie survival game rather than a survival game with zombies.

Its still pretty easy to deal with and avoid them though as locking them in buildings or hiding in one makes them lose agro as they cant find you but they really need to be able to break down wooden doors like what was teased years go, They also need to be able to hit you on cars, would be ideal if they would swipe at your legs with a chance to break them or stagger you so you fall off and they need to be able to climb onto more objects and low buildings alongside being able to get down from them as i oftern see zombies spawned on the roofs of barrcks unable to get down. ALso zombies should spawn in buildings more so when walking though a school you might open a door to find a bunch of zombies in a class room or an apartment building might have famileys of zeds still lurking in their apartments(the apartment buildings could use an updated interiror like some of the other buildings have gotten as they look rather dated). Still a good start and i hope the devs continue to make zombies a primary threat rather than rely on pvp encounters as it will be nice when the game gets to a stage where everyone dosent shoot on sight for fear of zombies mobbing them.

For those looking for better zeds, maybe you should take a look to my mods.

This includes zeds in buildings, zeds in forest, possibility to setup safe zones, zeds being able to hit player on obstacle (like cars), zeds hittings cars, zeds with different characteristics (speed, HP, strenth...) and a lot lot more things (all being customisable).

The HC server I play on uses your mods. Let me tell ya, when they added the new damage levels the zzs now give out. added with your mods... It is a NIGHTMARE.. The good kind ofc.
Even with the sneak attack it can take a good 3 swings to kill a z. I will still melee a zombie but if another comes in I run like a screaming schoolgirl.

Your mods are awesome and have kept me playing this game. BI did a good job seeing what you seen awhile ago, tougher zs = more fun.

Definitely a step in the right direction for the Z's.

I find that the Z's on the roofs act as look outs, so while I know they should not be up there to begin with, once they see a player they make a lot of noise and attract other Z's. This can make them a real danger when the number of Z's is increased. Also they do not deaggro if you hide in the building they are stood on, which often keeps the mob outside on high alert. Removing all safe spaces though could run the risk of making it too hard.

Its always nice to run into a building looking for safety and find a couple of Z's inside. Out of the boiling fat and into the burning fire, so to speak. I cant ever remember that happening on vanilla but it should do in certain places like med centers/police stations/etc.

Does vanilla need more canned food? The over all amount, not really, but for variety then yes. I've enjoyed the dog and cat food I've been living on. More bad food and less good food would be good.
some of the food is low nutrition value as it dosent last like when you eat it i think, the dog and cat food is just a funny little adition and the unknown food can is a nice idea as it can make you sick sometimes so its abit of a gamble, the snacks are mostly found in the spawn zones but as i said low nutrion value to let players just get off the coast

I am not against adding food, or mystery meat. I just think there may be bigger fish to fry. In fact most additions are ok, but they do not enhance game play or fix old probs. IMO that time could be spent correcting game issues. And if you are going to add the stuff like tougher zs and stealth kills are a great start.

i think that adding new items is ok because the 3d modelers arnet the ones incharge of fixing bugs and its not like any of the new food needed new anamations or anything so it was a quick add to the game, i think people forget that devs each have differnt jobs, that said outside of cars what old problems are there to be fixed as i havent really noticed anything else to be honest

ou are right tho, I did not think of the team as a split up unit with many different departments. I am not of that world as many are not, So it is easy blame anyone and everyone. Truth is I do not really care whos at fault or what dept. does what. I just want to pay my money and play my game with a reasonable expectation that past issues are something that should be addressed before new problems are created.

Melee was never a core part of the game like f.e. Kingdom Come which is built around HEMA.
Gunplay is rudimentary but it's dumbed down so normal people can grasp the mechanics. Imagine DayZ with ACE level ballistics.... Now listen to the whining because nobody can hit targets beyond 100m with a sniper rifle anymore.
Only nerds are going to take the time to create their dope sheet(s) like i did so they could engage targets beyond 2km and hit with their first shot.

I wish they would be implementing more harsh behaviour for zombies like climbing up, cracking windows or doors to make their ways through. that would be so petrifying.

I like that zombies are more threatening even if there's just 2 or 3, but I feel like they just amplified the inherent problems with zombies that have been here the whole time. Zombies have never been good in Standalone, they've always been super jank and busted, so making them more dangerous has also made them more frustrating.

It's like making your car faster, but you never fixed the wheels, so it certainly goes faster, but now it wobbles and shakes like crazy at the high speeds lol

Your post made me think, In A2/Mod... Zombies were never a threat... Certainly less then a threat then now with SA. And it is a zombie game. Other then bears.. maybe wolves the zombies should be the biggest threat in a zombie game.

I did not play a lot of A3 DZ/Mod. The zombies were ok.. but again only a threat if your swarmed.
