Windows only! Mac users please check out Gaia's Mods for Mac.
For EUI Users: use v1.28g with the required EUI Compatibility Patch.

Gaia's Core Mod provides thousands of additions and changes to CiV's systems and mechanics, some to rebalance the game and smooth out the experience, and others to enable other mods such Megalopolis, Named Ethnic Units or Sapiens, a huge overhaul mod that adds extra content and depth to nearly every aspect of CiV.

Changes range from simple balance tweaks to deep changes to the underlying code in order to improve stability, scalability, and modularity. Since inception of the mod, there have been thousands of adjustments based on player feedback, including quality-of-life and balance improvements, and the addition of many new game options.

Please download the Hotfix that fixes the issue of lost promotions on upgrade.

Thanks! I just started a game without the mods, and it's not nearly as much fun. Namaste

Promotions will be fixed in next update ... please bear with me.

first, HI & thanks for making this mod. it's fantastic and I've been enjoying the fluidity of it with updates every/other week or so. A little unfortunate that old saves dont work after updating, but alas, I learned my lesson on that one lol.

TWIMC not sure if this was intentional or not, but with most recent update i was pretty miffed to see that unit promotions are lost when upgraded. completely removed the incentives to keep and guard elite units... now everything is just fodder. help

Unsure what could be the issue but I'm using the core mod with sapiens and most of it's other mods and I'm up to date as far as I can tell (versions 535), the issue seems to be that my units are losing their promotions as I upgrade them. Slingers to archers, and warriors to spearmen. I did two games and the issues stayed the same

Gaia, just saw a chat from you asking if there are any problems, but I lost the thread. I'm playing v535 (core and sapiens) with art mod 531. Shosone if it matters. In 1860 or so, my units started losing their promotion perks - ie, I had a field artillery with 64 that lost Barrage I and II. Happened to at least 3 units. I saved the game and started a new one. I'm early in the game, but when I established a religion, I had only 1 choice, shia islam. No battles yet.

a few weeks ago, I was playing the Maya and the game froze at turn 433 when the long cycle came up.

@chalo: The “wip” in parenthesis stands for “work in progress”. Once the work is complete, the mod will be natively compatible with EUI v1.29i without requiring a compatibility patch. The work required to make EUI v1.29i compatible is fairly complex, it takes time, and there are other things that have taken priority over this such as bug fixes, stability improvements and balance tweaks.

Currently the mod is only compatibly with the legacy EUI v1.28g which requires the compatibility patch found here . In the near future, the mod will be compatible with EUI v1.29. In either case, and unlike other mods that ship their own version of EUI, Sapiens will always require that you download [forums.civfanatics.com] and install the original EUI in order to use it.

I'm a little confused. At the top of the description it says "For EUI Users: use v1.28g with the required EUI Compatibility Patch." but then lower down it says "U.I. Improvements
Partly our own work, partly from EUI by bc1 for compatibility with v1.29i (wip)."
What version of EUI is compatible then with this whole Core+Sapiens set up?

@BirbMen: Happiness for the AI in Sapiens works exactly the same as in the base game. For deity the AIUnhappinessPercent is set to 80% in HandicapInfos.

You can change it with a modmod with the following line of code:
UPDATE HandicapInfos SET AIUnhappinessPercent = 90 WHERE Type = 'HANDICAP_DEITY';

Alternatively, you can change it directly in the mod by editing the file CORE/AI/Handicaps2.sql and reducing the scalar in line 47. If you set it to 2 the AIUnhappinessPercent will be 85%, and setting it to 1 will make that 90% etc.

how can i edit the amount of happiness the AI gets? i play in deity and its really too much what they get
