Animated Portrait Set
Four fully animated silicoid portrait sets.
They twitch, and blink, and look around, and breathe, just like vanilla portraits.
The more human-like sets have alternate faces, hair and sexual dimorphism.
You can easily use this set to create any Custom Empire you like, just like for the vanilla portraits.

Custom City Set
Industrial/underground city.

Custom Archetype
The silicoid species class uses a separate archetype, which means they are not considered Biological. This results in the special "Silicoid" trait being applied to any species created using one of the new portraits and on a separate list of traits being available for them.
Silicoids have a stronger fortification defense and garrison health, and they don't need regular food to sustain themselves, but they have decreased growth and experience gain. They consume a very small amount of Energy and a lot more minerals compared to organics though (in the form of a consumer good malus).
The "Silicoid" trait is always applied on a silicoid species and cannot be removed unless the species undergoes a Synthetic Ascension.
All three Ascension paths are available as in vanilla, although of course Biologic ascension will only give access to the silicoid traits.

Custom Traits
Just like Synthetics, Silicoids do not have the vanilla traits to pick from. When the player creates a new Empire using their portraits, a new selection of custom silicoid traits will be available for use.

Custom Civics
Two new civics have been made available for silicoid species: Living World and Terraformers. The former grants a significant boost in Unity output, the latter allows the player's Empire to start with the first two terraforming technologies already researched.

Custom Ship Set
The vanilla synthetic ships, made available for use for any player-created custom Empire.

Custom Empires
The Taclariotan Influence and the Mandate of Druerd. The first is an Illuminated Autocracy (materialist/xenophobic/authoritarian), the second a Theocratic Dictatorship (spiritualist/fanatic authoritarian).I’ve set these two Empires as capable of spawning on their own (although they won’t spawn always), unless the player is using one of them, in which case that one will never spawn.
If you wish to disable the Empires from spawning without using either yourself, you need to either disable the mod before starting up Stellaris, or go to the mod folder (Steam/SteamApps/workshop/content/281990/... /silicoid_portraits/prescripted_countries/) open the octeelan_prescripted_countries file, search for spawn_enabled=yes, and edit it to: spawn_enabled=no.
You can also edit it to: spawn_enabled=always, if you wish either of the two Empire to always be spawned in your games.

Compatibility
This mod does not affect any vanilla files, nor does it add any gameplay feature. I don’t think it should cause any conflict with most other mods, although there might be exceptions I haven’t thought of.

@Mosstone this mod is quite old - if you use it along with my update (yes you need both), everything has been adjusted to work with the current version of Stellaris. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2579736379

it would appear that most of the traits are missing the specific effects in the descriptions. They have flavor text and nothing else.

Wonderful work - I have included parts of your mod in mine but then got banned for not asking for permissions. Do you have any objections to your work being included in mine? I have already added you to the credits list.

Hi! Are you ok if I include your mod in a large portrait patch (still requiring users of the patch to subscribe to your mod) but modifying some files to include the portraits in the default Paradox categories?

I've updated the gameplay content from this mod to work with Stellaris 3.0.* - you must still subscribe to this one for it to work. All the traits and both custom empires are updated, and the Contingency shipset has been adjusted to not cause copious amounts of error logs. Finally, I've added an alternate silicoid species class that is the portraits, but with the lithoid trait and none of the custom gameplay.

Couldn't you just add these portraits to the Lithoid species?
