Great engine that builds upon MW19's gameplay that got me into the franchise in the first place. UI and menus are a downgrade though, and the game in its current state (Pre-Season 1) feels incomplete with freezing and crashing being a daily occurrence. Looking forward to where IW brings the game over the next two years though!

Edit: I'm still having fun with the game, and updates to it have brought it to a state where I'm pretty content with what we have - but core gameplay decisions like sliding, movement speed, and TTK remain as IW intended originally. Planning to move to MWIII to see what Sledgehammer brings with the new year.

Super fun and solid platformer! Here from the Nick Robinson video (check it out if you haven't), but this game is the perfect mix of simple enough to relax and clear easily, but complex (especially if you go for every snowflake) enough to enjoy when you want to.

It's not a simulator, but it's definitely the most immersive shooter I've played - while still being fun and arcade-y. It lies somewhere between hardcore games like Squad or Arma, and more casual ones like COD and Battlefield, and takes visual and atmospheric elements from the former (minimal UI, realistic gun mechanics) and creates a short, snappy experience that reminds you of the latter.

If you are frustrated by deaths in FPS games, be prepared for this. You will die, a lot and often. Bullets, realistically, kill quickly, and the lack of markers on enemies mean you have to keep an eye out on your surroundings before a sudden death.

Tips for new players - start out with Co-Op mode (after playing the tutorial, which not enough people know about.) You will actually know where the enemy is, and the bots' AI means that while challenging, they are predictable and good targets to practice on. Hopping into PvP without at least a little bit of experience will be a very sour time.

Honestly, give it a try. If this is your type of game, then Sandstorm is THE ultimate example of this specific niche of FPS. I definitely recommend anyone with FPS experience to try this game out.

Although still an early acess game, Grimm Eclipse still feels really nice and fun to play, and maybe its simplicity adds to that.
