Put the game on sale you greedy guts.

Not near enough people talking about just how good the gunplay here is. Like the entire game is great, but theres something extremely satisfying about shooting guns in this game.

I bought this game going in with low expectations and they were met perfectly.

Conceptually this game has everything it needs to be a masterpiece, a dark twist on a classic fairytale in a relatively unique 4v4 PvPvE format that benefits stealth in both PvP and PvE. And honestly, I enjoyed the game for the 5 hours I played it.

Then I looked to alternatives for PvPvE, and found Hunt : Showdown as well as a few others, and realized just how unpolished this game is.

When you buy this game you invest into a concept, but the game itself is very disappointing.

There are 4 characters to play as, but it basically boils down to
-Range
-Stealth
-Ranged Melee
-Screw you Im John

Combat is clunky, feeling like almost dark souls but with no polish. Attacks don't really feel like they hit and most people result to really janky playstyles to optimize (Sprint attack only with John, crouching down and going for assassinations exclusively). The game definitely suffers the hardest here. I personally opt for exclusively playing Robin to avoid this aspect of the game as it is easily the least fun.

Please hold your money until they fix this game, its not worth it no matter how cheap the game is. The roadmap looks promising but players are bleeding from this game faster than they can update it, and at this point Hood seems to be bound to suffer the same fate as games such as Anthem.

Great concept, but a release so bad it can't sustain itself.

I don't often write reviews anymore because it always feels like I'm just dropping a small pile of change into a wealth of tips, but this game is the first to truly resonate with me in years, closest I can think of was rainbow six siege but even then I had a lot of issues with that game.

I'll keep this as short as possible, Hunt showdown is a niche game that will scratch an itch that most people didn't know they had. It's hard, it's unforgiving, and its fun as hell. The sound design is the single best I've seen in any game... ever. The gunplay is a turn-off for some people, as every gun in this game is very high risk very high reward. You can one shot headshot anyone with any gun as long as they're in range, but save for a few guns missing a shot give the enemy ample time to react and do the same to you.

The PvE is well made but not really a focus, the main threat of PvE enemies is the sound. Everything anyone or anything does in this game makes sound, and thanks to the sound design in Hunt, it is very easy to pinpoint someones exact location through it.

I'm not going to pretend to be a master of this game, at the time of writing I have only 30 hours and am only level 50, but I can see myself clocking hundreds of hours in this game before I even begin to get bored. Is the entry floor of this game hard? Very, I'm still trying to get over it, but with every game I feel myself improving, and I genuinely can't wait to get to a comfortable spot.
