At some point in 2016, I had apparently opened this game and kept it open for about 4 hours. I have absolutely ZERO memory of ever even installing this game.

Those 4 hours stayed until the beginning of February this year, when my boyfriend managed to get me to actually, *finally* give this game a fair chance.

Pros:
- S C H M O O O V E M E n T
- guns shoot good (except for the ones that shoot bad)
- melee is op as ♥♥♥♥
- I want Mesa Prime to ride me like the cowgirl she is

Cons:
- ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the timegating is real
- you will NEVER have enough forma or argon crystals
- open worlds are cringe and i hate them
- my poor pc is not happy with me playing this game



tl;dr: game's alright, give it a try and then get scared away when you see that it takes 3 days to craft a new frame :]


edit: duviri has straight up made this game borderline unplayable for me, and it has absolutely destroyed any positive feelings i have on what is otherwise probably a fantastic update (i wouldn't know because well... i can't really play it).
i'd switch the review to negative, but trashing a game just because my 10 year old, never-been-upgraded pc is too ♥♥♥♥ to run it feels a bit too harsh, even for me.

This game hurts my hand and causes me to overdose on Dopamine.

This immediately became my 4th favorite game in my Steam library after I found out that you can throw a bar of soap at literally any enemy and instagib them.

Any game that lets you do that while bhopping at like 90 mph and doing frontflips off the roof of a barn is an automatic 10/10

I'm just doing this because points.

1.4 made me scared to touch my main character.

Uhh.

Yeah.

Used to be a really good game.

Now you have to pay more than the Deluxe Edition's full price to get all of the DLC weapons. It's $10. Per weapon. One of them (The Mosin) is literally an asset flip from another one of their games. """New""" free weapons are literally reskins of existing weapons, but with a glowy skin and some stat changes. This is on top of buying the game itself, a Deluxe Edition, lootboxes, and an in-game microtransaction store, where the DLC weapons are located so TWI doesn't have to deal with regional pricing or Steam sales. Which is extra ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scummy.
Sure, KF1 had weapon DLCs too, but at least you get quadruple the weapons for about 80% of the price.

Even outside of that, for the past 2+ years they've been adding balance changes that ironically enough destroy the balance of the game and make it much less fun to play. It started with allowing Fleshpounds to spawn enraged on Suicidal and HoE, and it's been getting worse ever since. Now there's a half-assed upgrade system, the spawns are (still) completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥, I've noticed Scrakes occasionally spawning enraged, most perks have lost their defined roles (Commandos being able to kill Scrakes and Fleshpounds with little effort, Sharpshooters being able to clear hordes of trash, Firebug is capable of killing Fleshpounds but not Scrakes like he could in the first game, Gunslinger has completely eclipsed Sharpshooter, etc) and of course, the aforementioned $10 DLC weapons that range from being pointless to completely busted, with no middle ground.

You're probably wondering when I'm gonna say something good about this game.
I have nothing good to say about it anymore.
Everything good I could say has been overshadowed by Tripwires recent, almost suicidal decisions regarding this once great game.

Basically, if you're thinking of buying the game, Don't. Get KF1 instead.
In fact, don't buy anything that has Tripwire's name on it unless it's KF1.

Edit: Tripwire is now in cahoots with Epic Games Store. They're not even developing the game anymore, that's Sabre Interactive now, which is the company that made..... World War Z, another EGS exclusive game that practically no one remembers because it died on arrival, for obvious reasons.

Avoid this game. Don't even buy KF1. Don't give TWI money, period.
