If you're looking for something Soulslike but also want a coat of anime on it, go for it. just don't get the DLC

At the time of writing this was made with not really hate, but some pretty heavy disgust. You'll soon ready why. But I want to start off saying I don't really care about this new "feature" that the devs are adding. I'm purely looking at this as if I was a first time player with an unbiased perspective.

VRChat is a pretty dope game to play with people but it has some er. gnawing issues that I honestly think need to be resolved before I can consider giving a good review. There are three MAJOR things that I just don't like about the game and slightly its community.

1. Optimizations.
Honestly, this game is such an unoptimized and buggy mess that I'm questioning the community's sanity a little bit for dealing with this dumpster of spaghetti code. Now look. The game works. I won't deny that but thats the best thing about this game honestly. It just works. but when it doesn't work? Well. a LOT of things can happen. like. alot alot. My first problem was how choppy my framerates were in VR. Now if you look at my steam profile you'll see I have a pretty beefy computer. So then... why was the framerate so choppy? Well we'll come back to that later. Second I had painful loading times for this game. I would load in the main "home", I suppose, and would then drop a portal to say the Void Club, and my GOD, I swear the loading circle had its own ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loading circle for connecting. It was hell, and even then Im not even sure why I tried connecting to other worlds! it was already piss poor with the framerate being at 20 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FPS.
So now, what solved it? what did I have to do to fix this issue i was having? Well turns out at the time of Spectere/meltdown security breaches in both Ryzen and Intel CPUs windows had pushed an update to help fix these issues to prevent a huge hit in performance. I was not affected by this. However I was shocked to discover that the game's performance was suffering due to security optimizations, so I would have to disable my own windows security just to play the damn game in VR! the game is called VRCHAT, not DESKTOPCHAT. I was using an oculus CV1 and it ran perfectly fine after a quick disable to see if the disabled ♥♥♥♥ worked! I'm sorry but If I was to play a game I personally feel like I shouldn't lose out on my own security for it!

2. The Community can be very VERY toxic.
If you ever want to piss someone off. Just say that you hate VRChat. I PROMISE you, you'll get atleast 12 people bashing on you telling you its the best thing ever and some of them will even turn your own words on you out of petty defensiveness. seriously guys are we in kindergarten? because we can have opinions and share them if we want. So do yourselves a favor, and stop acting like clowns for gods sake, it's just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ social space game.

3. VRChat Plus
So again as I said. I'd be looking at this as first time user.
Heres what I would feel. Confusion. VRChat plus is a 10$ sub service that you use to access only 2 things at the time of writing. a Custom Profile Picture, and an extended favorite avatar list going from 25 to 100. with NO other payment option for like a yearly sub. As a first time user, I would probably be only enticed by one thing, and thats the custom profile picture, but to PAY for that? Guys discord, steam, so many services allow you to have a custom profile picture and not have you go through a paywall. I get wanting to support VRCDevs, but the one thing you should NOT do as a developer is paylock something so simple like that.

in conclusion. This was not made to really bash on anyone who likes vrchat. nor was it made to call out the developers. But this is just my personal experience and frustrations in VRC.

TL;DR You skipped to the end? okay so uh. Rude furries left and right. you'll occasionally wank off to watching some furrys ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Man 2-3 years have I waited for this game and it's in early access. Now to be frank, this looks nothing like the trailers in 2017 or whatever. But that's besides the point. Game's fun. Let me break this down into a small list of pros and cons to keep it short for you.

Pros:
If killing some weird infection is what gets ya rocks off this is for you.
Heavily influenced and reliant on stealth for all you dishonored and stealth loving players
Kickass soundtrack by our lord and savior Simon Viklund
Fairly straight forward and easy to navigate interface for the menus.

Cons:
Maybe a bit too hard for first time players
Remember how I said heavily influences stealth? Yeah you're gonna need to learn to stealth in this rather you like it or not. I get the game is supposed to be lesser action paced, but with the difficulty and stealth involved? it's more like a learning curve that goes into an infinite loop. if you're not a stealth game player, you're gonna learn how to stealth the hard way with this.
Too much parallaxing in the menus. It actually kinda hurts my eyes and there should be an option to lower or even turn off parallaxing all together.

At the end of the day this game is still early access, this review is subject to change at any moment and will have a more in depth review when it goes into a full release, for now, I recommend it.

Ah this game. The game franchise that revolutionized the gaming industry as a whole. While you hear a ton of people say "Oh this game isn't faithful to the original DOOM" or "Beyond the campaign there isn't much else to do." (which to those I say kindly shut the hell up as this game has much to do after campaign and isn't supposed to be true to the original) This game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GEM in my book. After ID got claimed by Bethesda, they revived Both Wolfenstein and DOOM with their respected titles, Making their way back to everyone's hearts with the releases. This game is a legend from 2016 which will be carried into DOOM: Eternal. Seriously, grab the shotty from the ol' days of the First 3D Doom game, and fight on as this will be one of the best games from the last decade for you to play.
