It's a fun little toy.

Retro mode makes for fantastic screenshots. Reminds me of the mega drive CD background. 90s, man!

when spacecraft and such get added (impulse based at LEAST) then this will start to be a real GAME, much more than a toy.

The best controller i've used on a PC

tested with GTA V, skyrim, and a couple first person shooters

I havent tested any platformers but i can tell it will work fairly well

pro tip: don't use rechargeable batteries they dont last as long

the non-rechargeables last forever anyway

This is easily the best sonic game ever released. I'm saying that as a person who had believed, for over 25 years, that sonic CD was the greatest sonic game ever, and had never believed anything different.

I had believed, for 10 years (After sonic 06 and the secret rings ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) that sonic was dead. I believed Sonic was just a good idea, which had been turned into a dead horse, beaten senseless.

6 years ago, the only ♥♥♥♥ I gave about sonic was the classic sonic mode in Sonic Generations, which is the reason I bought it. You ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the physics, and the level design in generations, but at least you had started to listen. I still thought sonic team was full of crackpots.

I was wrong.

Here's my proposal to you, Sega:

Sonic 1, Sonic CD, sonic 2, sonic 3 & knuckles, sonic mania. All other sonic games sega released should be non-cannon, and never receive sequels.

Please, sega, figure this ♥♥♥♥ out already... I've been talking about this for 10 years.
(yes yes, we can include 3d blast and even the arcade fighter... just not anything with douchebag sonic, ok?)

sonic adventure and sonic adventure 2 were an interesting sideline which I enjoyed, and could potentially flush out into the secondary group of sonic games. It's still open...

the modern sonic games are the story of some dumb athletic douchebag character In a world of ♥♥♥♥ level design and cheap gameplay that I hate.

I never bought sonic boom, as at the time, I believed the franchise to be too far gone to be salvageable. I wanted your company, sega, to go bankrupt, merely because it would prevent this shameful ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from appearing on amazon.

You've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up in marketing, game development, iconography, and character design for... 20 years, when all those things had ALREADY BEEN FIGURED OUT and you ALREADY OWNED THEM

TAKE THE HINT, SEGA

CONTINUE DOWN THE PATH WE'VE BEEN ASKING YOU TO WALK DOWN

SEGA

Greatest First Person Shooter ever made.

Please add me if you buy it, i'll play with you

Before I played it on PC for the first time, I played it on the sega dreamcast.

I played it back in the days of Seganet

With a dreamcast controller
It was fun, but frustrating (especially since SOME PEOPLE actually had mouse and keyboard...)

Anyway, have fun fragging

please add me if you buy this, we'll hang ok?

I have a very funny story to tell about this 28 MB download

It all started when we got a new refridgerator with a neat little color screen and a keypad

as soon as the warranty ran out, the refridgeration unit broke

we tried to get it fixed to no avail

My wife wanted to throw it out, but when I was checking out the electronics I noticed it had an ARM chip on a board with what appeared to be some non-volatile flash memory, and some on-board RAM

I had an idea, and decided to keep it

I had read online that some guy had actually ported doom to a toaster, one of those fancy ones with a color screen and a d-pad

I wanted to top that

I found an assembly port of DOOM for ARM chipsets and worked out a way to put it on the flash chip by soldering it into USB stick's PCB

I looked up the chip number for the flash chip and it turned out it was a fairly ordinary flash chip found on a lot of sandisk USB sticks, NAND flash.

I cracked open just about half of all the USB thumb drives I own (over 200) and found out I actually owned one with the same chip in it!

I desoldered the chip from the motherboard inside of the fridge control panel and put it in the thumb drive

I found out... it was already formatted! It was even compatible with the electronics inside of the particular thumb drive I was using (it obeyed ONFi standards)

FAT, 128 MB nand flash chip

anyway so long story short i tinkered with the doom assembly and got it to run on the little arm chip on the fridge, and to display on the screen

The assembly i downloaded also allowed me to save to the chip and interestingly enough the write functionality was enabled, something I did not expect although was probably necessary to allow the fridge to save the ice-maker presets and light-on-open-door setting.

anyway so after getting it all working and running, with controls (but no sound), and I put it back in the fridge's front panel and showed it to my wife

Well she was amazed and very impressed but she really thought DOOM wasn't DOOM without the epic soundtrack

So anyway i managed to figure out how to get the motherboard's ice-maker controls to output analog audio and modified the assembly to map the audio out into the address space of the arm chip. It was software-emulated sound, but it had a few voices and channels and was actually better quality than many PC-speakers back in the day.

I hooked it up to a little speaker and E1M1 was just... oh so satisfying. A bit garbled and grainy but I could hear it, and it was there.

So DOOM was running perfectly.

That's the story!

Please tell your stories of porting DOOM to ridiculous setups, i'd love to hear them!

well for the time it was great but now not so much

more modern arma games will probably run fine on your computer (arma 2 or 3)

probably better in fact because this game is HORRIBLY optimized for modern CPUs and GPUs.
