Fun game, the shooting felt pretty good and you get to customize the difficulty for your liking. I especially enjoyed having options for things like weapons jamming and tactical reloads. On high difficulty levels It feels like a more arcadey version of Hideous Destructor mod which is a plus. Some enemies were a bit too tanky for my liking though and you should always sell most of your grenades since the money you get from them is more useful.

The art style is pretty unique for an fps game and evokes this body-horror feeling, you can turn off the gore if you find it too extreme. I really liked the brutal and oppressive mood the game has.

I think the game could have used more variety on level textures since they eventually start blending together. There were some standout levels but also some pretty bland ones, maybe cutting one episode out would been for better.

I experienced a few crashes, this might been due to playing on Linux.

8/10, would waifu again.

A sweet game that likes to pull your heartstrings. It has a cute artstyle and character design but also deals in some pretty dark subjects without going all grimdark. Even if you choose to never use the Soul Cannon, it's still always there as a reminder that your characters are indeed mortal and can die if you suck enough at this game :)

Sure, it's about as stable as your ex but it's also fun.

An excellent port of an amazing JRPG. Zero is probably my favorite game in the trails series

I recently played through the entire trilogy, so this short review is meant for all three games.

I really enjoyed the story, this series had me laughing, crying and everything in between. There are few parts where the slice of life fluff overstays it's welcome (especially in MoD), they are well written scenes but I swear at some points I could have fallen asleep. Of course there is a bunch of fan-service here and there, but nothing too distasteful. Where this series shines is creating a really interesting world and populating it with an amazing cast of characters. The villains in the Prelude are pretty weak though, with most of their dialogue consisting of maniac laughter.

Don't play these games for gameplay. The battle system is good enough and mostly works to punctuate the story sections. It does get better in MoD and MoT where you get multiple different moves for each character, but overall the battle system is not that deep in any of the games.

In short:
+Great story, loved the characters and how they grow over time
+Good music
+Very lore-rich world

-Locked at 720p and 30fps, but it's 90% VN anyway so it's not that big of a deal
-Long sections of slice of life fluff

Get these games on sale if you're interested, the full price might be a bit too much.

I had few issues with this one at first, your ammo pool is incredibly small and you end up chainsawing small enemies a lot to keep your ammo pool filled since the fights are way bigger and longer than in 2016. However, after a while and "gettin gud" the combat has really grown on me. You end up doing so much on the fly thinking it leaves you almost exhausted after a level. It is insane how well the combat plays once you get used to all of your tools. However, it might get a bit overwhelming if you are interested in doing just a single run and don't want to replay previous levels at all.

Pros:
- Good soundtrack, not as great as Doom 2016 though
- Excellent combat
- Runs really well, it rarely dropped below 100 fps on my mid range pc
- Enjoyed the story, it's cheesy as hell
- Slayer gates are fun

Cons:
- Way too low ammo pool with only one answer (chainsaw), makes long term ammo management meaningless
- Your melee attacks do no damage unless you have blood punch charged
- No custom levels, snapmap wasn't perfect but it was way better than nothing
- No demonic voice logs :(

It's amazing to see Black Mesa come to an end after 15 years of following it.

Early parts of the game are probably the "weaker" areas of it, especially if you have played HL1 to death already. Going through prettier versions of the same early levels isn't as exciting as one might think. Funnily, BM is at it's best when it focuses on doing it's own thing instead of trying to mimic the original levels. The game keeps getting better later on as it makes bolder changes to level design.

The AI has some changes for the better. For instance, the medic's seem to occasionally heal their wounded allies and vortigaunts like to dodge your shots. The AI is still somewhat stupid though, it occasionally either derps around or always knows precisely where you are.

Xen is by far the most impressive part of Black Mesa though. It feels like entirely different game. Granted, certain parts of it do overstay their welcome (I lost count how many times I did that same 'plug the cord' puzzle) but it is a huge improvement over HL1. The final boss fight is also completely different and is a great way to end the game.

9/10 crowbars

Dusk is an excellent oldschool shooter. If you like games like Quake and Blood then this should be right up your alley.

Level design is probably my favorite part of this game. Episode 1 is quite grounded in reality but later on you encounter more crazier stuff like distorting the reality as you go through the level or orbs that completely warp the gravity. It's a great sense progression and episode 3 especially feels like it's hitting everything on the table and keeps you guessing whats coming next.

Enemy design is quite creative as well. You start by encountering magic-wielding cultists and crazed chainsaw guys and eventually you fight demons and other horrors pulled right out of your nightmares. However, I wish Dusk would have more enemies that do different cool stuff and force you to prioritise some over the others (think archviles or pain elementals from Doom 2). Wendigo is one such enemy, an invible demon you can hear by sound but becomes visible once you hurt it.

If there is something I downright didn't like it's when the game decides to break your flashlight in some of the darker sections and force you to wander in dark until you find a new one. Thankfully these sections are short and happen only a few times.

Dusk is filled to the brim with personality. It knows what it is and who it's appealing to. I highly recommend you play it!

Early Access Review
As a fan of older fps games, this game really felt like a throwback to shooters like Duke Nukem 3D and Blood. It has gorgeous looking sprite graphics, quite decent level design and lots of secrets to boot. Overall, I really liked what I saw here. I hope the full game will have more stuff to offer though, right now in early access the game can be played through casually in less than an hour.

In short, they absolutely nailed it.

I was quite pessimistic over this game. Then I got to play it and holy crap yes! Doom doesn't shove down some BS story down your throat, you wake up and imediately start shooting demons around you. Combat feels quick, you never stand in one place because that get's you killed pretty fast. From first level onwards I found myself running around the level, shooting anything that moves, jumping on higher ground while grabbing health/ammo/armor desperately trying to stay alive.

What was probably the most positive surprise is the level design. You are not just thrown into a linear corridor after linear corridor like in Doom 3, instead you get open large levels quite similar to original games. Also yes, there are numerous secrets to be found, I think I missed 6 in second level alone.

What I thought I would hate were the glory kills, however they are quite quick to pull off and keep the pace up by giving you some extra health (which you will need on higher difficulties). Perhaps the game relies too much on this system, them again whenever you take damage it is 100% your own fault, almost any source of damage can be avoided by a skillfull player. This doesn't make the game easy though, UV is definitely giving me a run for my money.
