Early Access Review
The first 3 games are the most interesting, due to the discovery of mechanics.
After that the gameloop remains the same, without surprises.

Here are my main issues:
1. Game progress makes the game too easy.
2. Game duration is too long.
3. Normal game speed is redundant. x3 game speed eventually becomes the baseline.
4. Threats are passive, invisible and unclear. Fighting an invisible enemy is not engaging, nor fun.
5. Game is exploitable with one main build. Differentiation in approach isn't rewarded.
6. Logistics ain't a thing. Building placement, orientation, roads... it doesn't matter where you place it. As long as you can find it in the clutter.

Pfew, what can I say after all has already been said?
Well, whats for sure is that the game is big. Its bigger than you thought, and then bigger than that. Again.
Another thing that intrigued me was the content. There are so many things to see, from hidden dungeons to unique items. A lot of work has been put into this.
Finally, the vistas. The game looks gorgeous from any angle, no matter where you are. Its like walking through various paintings.

Not enough shield and HP. It's like playing counter-strike or call of duty.
Bad progression system. Rewards aren't even hype.

Update: Since the release of the campaign I've started to enjoy Halo Infinite much more. The game is now what I was hoping for the last Halo to be. An open world ring that is filled with content. You have a big say in how you want to approach things. The gameplay loop goes beyond just shooting, and adds rpg elements, exploration and story to the mix. I hope they keep expanding the game with more sections of the ring to explore, old weapons, etc.
The multiplayer is still not there though, but I hope that if they invest time into the product, it too will be fun to play.

I've enjoyed DOOM Eternal as much as DOOM 2016, maybe even more. Where the first DOOM did a great job in setting up the fundamentals. Eternal added relatively small features that have a huge impact all together, bring a solid balance to the game, and make it more a memorable.

Most important of all, the game is hella fun. Every game element in there is neatly directed into forming a single specific experience. I think a big credit is due to the leadership and management within id software. It is evident that everyone at id software has worked together on creating a single vision, and working out bold and creative ideas. Consider that in a genre of where we thought: "We've seen it all".

I've have two minor complaints to share though. Though the progression is great, it would have been nice if higher difficulties would rewarded slightly more. In my case, nightmare gets you the same results if you've played it on easy. Only Ultra-nightmare has a unique reward.
My second issue is with the multiplayer. The campaign prepares you for battlemode, but sadly the two don't match in experience. I've had lots of confusion while playing the slayer, as well as the demons. Currently the asymmetrical gameplay is always favoring one side of the matchup. This mode will require some overhaul to feel just right, for me.

I'm reviewing the game based on the experience it brings, not on the quality.

Cyberpunk 2077 is not my kind of game. It consists out of 80% narrative, and 20% gameplay. You'll find yourself jumping through hoops 100% of the time. Where you think you have a choice, you really don't. The game portrays itself as a living, breathing world. In truth it is all linearly scripted.

ORIGIN - Your origin has no influence on the impact you have in the story. Every choice eventually leads to the same conclusion.

DIALOGUES - Dialogues usually consist out of two choices. 1. Progress main narrative. 2. Ask for further insights. These two blend in nicely to make it seem you're having a meaningful conversation. Notice that there is no path to diverge from. Sometimes, you will get 2 or 3 main narrative progression choices. These choices are the same answer. Example: Polite no, neutral no, agressive no. These option's have no influence on who your character is becoming, or what direction the story will lead to.

COMBAT - The game isn't challenging. There are no clever mechanics to use. The suggested way to play is to choose between melee, short range or long range. This should be determined by what opposition lies in front of you. Instead you make choices based on what weapon, armor value is highest.

HACKING - The amount of impact you have with hacking is minimal. It adds no depth to combat or sneaking. It only makes it easier. But combat and sneaking was already easy, so you will completely forget about hacking.

STORY - The story is unique, but it throws you into confusion over and over again. It presents the player with lots of names, locations, corporations, and cyber terms of which you've never heard before. Then the game tries to make you feel all cool and important, because you're in the middle of it. What the developers forgot is that you only have an hour to play a game, and that you don't care much for those things at that moment. You'll find yourself juggling all these concepts, have no clue what it's about. You just follow the breadcumbs to the next NPC, that will send you to the next one.

MISSIONS - The missions all have the same buildup. You get forced a problem and reason why you should be involved. Then you visit 5 NPC's that are scattered across the map to learn more about how you can solve this problem. You prepare by jumping through some hoops, or slaughter all enemies that stand in your way.

All of these points lack any experience. The game hopes to wow you into submission with it's worldbuilding, which is the only thing CD project red does well. What this game needs, is less narrative, and more interesting choices to be made. Mechanics should be pulled away from each other, so that they have nothing to do with one another. Combat encounters should have clear mixes of differing enemies. The world should be enriched with events where the player can have an impact. The main story should be set aside, so that the player can actually play the game.

Though the game is playable, it holds many technical issues that lower the enjoyment of the game. Baldur's Gate lacks the polish it currently needs. When Larian Studio's fixes the graphical issues such as: Black textures, animation bugs, camera bugs, and extreme polygon stretching, then I would recommend it.

In its current state, Baldur's Gate is playable, but is not worth the price.

Sim City, combined with Tetris, with light gameplay. Islanders has a fine balance to please your artistic needs while provoking your OCD. A nice casual game to play for 30 minutes right before bedtime.

If this is the official start of VR gaming, then I'm glad I've purchased my VR headset. Half Life Alyx explores various ways you can interact with the virtual world. It tries out different genres, showing VR's capabilities. It also adds to the great Half Life story and universe.

Great upgrade of a legendary title. You can expect nostalgia, expanded story (an addition of roughly +3 to 4 hours), more gameplay and most obviously improved visuals. The end of the game is still a bit unpolished where you can get confused and stuck. Some triggers are misplaced and can lead to weird save locations. I'm sure this will be fixed in the near future. I would suggest taking it easy and explore as much content as you can. It is a long and detailed journey. Enjoy.
