once the enemy ships crew is fully depleted the ship/station will be owned by you. (It will keep all buffs, like shield enhancer or special enemy abilities)
Some of your unemployed crew members will be converted into boarders.
If the crew is depleted by >50% then Borg computer cores are installed to the enemy ship where ever you hit it with the beam, this lets the ship look assimilated and drains energy from it. This effect is boosted if your turret has a higher material then the ship that you attack. (actually it is block specific)
crew members of higher rank (e. g general) require more time for assimilation


assimilation speed can be increased with higher rarity,better material or number of turrets or more boarders (don't forget to get enough boarders!)

- converts regular asteroids (without resources) to assimilated asteroids, that can be salvaged to get resources, systems, (Borg) turrets and Money, these can be tracked by the salvage order for Auto salvaging

Hints:
assimilate and salvage asteroids before starting to attack factions, by this way you quickly gain a lot of resources to build bigger ships
be careful, beaming over enemy crew will cost you reputation, dependant on the rank of the crewmember
if a ship is fully assimilated and other ships of the same faction see it ( are in the range of 60 km) then they declare war to you.
A station can not be secretly assimilated.

The ship will not become overpopulated from assimilation. If 90% of the max. crew capacity is reached, then no more crew will be added while the enemy ship will still loose crew. The only exceptions are captains, generals and commanders, who will be added in any case. The 90% limit is a buffer to fit in these exeptions.
