Ideas and Suggestions
Please leave your ideas or suggestions for this mod here!

If your idea / suggestions is essentially another boat, but without new mechanics, I probably won't consider it anytime soon. I have a long list of things to get through including compatibility patches. Thanks for understanding.

Already Planned
  1. Raids and Caravans from boats
  2. Ship Roles are affected by stats (ie. Intellect for Captain, which improves ship speed)
  3. Reseat Pawns on ships based on stats (see 2)
  4. Allow smaller boats like the rowboat to be stored on bigger ships
  5. Allow shallow water terrain tool to be reversible
  6. Upgrading boats with better material / parts, for increased stats.

could we get dedicated troop transports and cargo ships

id suggest making the mod split, making one the "framework" and one for the actual boats. incase people dont want certain ships in that run, or to encourage modders to make their add-ons since it might discourage them due to risking you just putting the same boat in the mod already.

I plan on adding an all inclusive spot in the mod options to disable specific boats, hence why I want people to let me know if they make a boat mod off this framework. Easier for me to account for them. But don’t worry I gotchu covered. I’m a big supporter of customized options for games.

I could think of a few things would be awesome:

1. Spacer tech type boat
2. Raiders attacking you with boat

3. Most importantly, may we have a boat between Row Boat and the Carvel boat tier? I feel like there is a sudden jump of the crew numbers requirements between the 2 tiers. It might be a personal reason, but I mostly have only 6 people in my colony, at most I goes up to 8. I tried 10~14 before, but the game didn't feel fun to me that way. And most importantly I am on a mac laptop, having over 10 pawns will drop my FPS a lot to a point it is unpleasant to play. (Having a late game big colony already drop my FPS to a point that's borderline pleasant to play.)

I don't know how many are out there having same issue as me who plays on a different system or a potato computer/laptop(or simply enjoy a small population colony). However, it means anyone like us won't really be able to enjoy the cannons, sea battle, and any of your future planned world events, if they are under the same case as me, since we won't be able to ride a boat with cannon unless we commits 80~90% of our colonists into a trip.

I understand that new boats won't be getting added soon, so this is will just be a note for the distant future.

As medium-sized boats between Row Boats and Caravels, you could have Galleys for the sea, meant to fight well there, but moving slowly on open ocean.

There's also the Dhow. It's a type of ship that was commonly employed on the Indian Ocean's trade routes. It's a fairly small craft, holding about 10-30 people, but it can be used to bring along plenty of goods, especially with the monsoon winds used to direct trade to India.

Finally, you'd have the Chinese "Junk". I don't know much of anything about this one, but apparently, it was a strong hybrid that was able to do well for the Chinese.

Caravan planner as in the dialog menu for forming caravans? Your error is with adding waypoints. If another mod affects caravan waypoints it is definitely possible for there to be a conflict. Something in waypoints is not instantiated, meaning something else is affecting it, but for now I can put in a fix so that it'll pass through to the normal vanilla method if it's not instantiated. Thanks for reporting it.

The reason there are only 3 boats is due to the fact that I have to get these textures from other people. I am not an artist, and I want the best of the best for textures. If you (or anyone) helps me out with textures it would take no time at all to add more boats, and add them onto the research tree.

How about archway bridges or something, like bridges pawns and boats can go across

Maybe a machine gun boat (1 seat, sorta like a mobile turret)

Possible suggestion: River travel. One of mankind's greatest forms of travel for most of human history has been river travel. Trade, migration, and warfare have all utilized rivers, and I think allowing smaller boats to navigate rivers (maybe based on size of rivers) would be an excellent and arguably the most useful addition to this mod. Also a barge/raft-like boat that is basically a rowboat but for cargo would be a great new boat to add for a river expansion.

Already added. The only reason it’s disabled in game is because I need to fix a few edge cases, and come up with a better method for finding an exit spot on river only maps. But don’t worry it’ll be ready soon.

The possibility of adding modern Naval ships Such as Cargo Ships, or the likes of frigates/destroyers for Naval Conflict would be beneficial to some people, as some of us have colonies that are more modern, but the ships lean towards the historical/medieval eras

Not sure if this has been said yet, but running across other boats in the water from other factions while underway, some hostile, some friendly. also maybe "Buried treasure" quests, like Item stash but over water and higher chance of valuable ores and minerals instead of weapons and Items

How about an option to "drop anchor" that would generate a standardized map for each ship (minus the rowboat) where you could allow your pawns to work on various things like cooking (if/when fishing compatibility comes through) and surgeries if your pawn gets injured in a pirate raid. Said maps could also be used for things like boarding enemy vessels to loot/take prisoners.
