If there isn't one, might I perhaps request one? As going through every dino on every map on my server would be rather tedious and time-consuming...
If it is enabled, each dino's bait and taming preferences are empty. Every player seems to have a different preference on taming using the mod, so I didn't want to enforce any settings, which is why everything is empty by default.
Although it could be perceived as tedious, it only needs done once and myself and many other players like having that amount of control. The settings also save for different maps, so your Rex settings from The Island will carry over onto Scorched Earth.
I am however in the middle of making some preset save files that can just be downloaded and dropped the SaveGames folder. They'll likely be in their own separate discussion thread.
I understand that it's difficult to balance everyone's preferences and I'm all for a high degree of customisation, but I'm just thinking a simple tickbox along the lines of the 'Taming XP/Dino Gifts/Pack Taming' boxes which are already there, which would turn off all dinos' combat requirements while maintaining the default taming setups you linked in that topic above. Just might make it somewhat easier for server admins, that's all...
EDIT: Oh, just one more question if I may - do the settings have to be done for Abarrant creatures as well as their standard counterparts, or would doing it for the standard dino count for the Abs one as well?
Other than it taking me a minute to realize that "Enable Custom Dino Preferences" needed to be checked before dino-specific settings would appear, I found it very intuitive.
I do have a hard time stomaching the settings being editable through this menu only on SP.. I read and understand why it cannot be updated live on a dedicated server.. but even if the menu were just accessible for creating a customized file while running on a dedicated server and the output was somewhere local, which would then need to be uploaded at a later time, that would be more desirable. I find that when I'm most interested in adjusting a taming multiplier is DURING the tame, or soon after. That's when I will feel inspired and have the most accurate data to tweak future tames of a certain creature to fit server balance or desired experience. Being able to essentially record those values and then implement them via the file later would work fine for that. Testing independently in SP either before or after the tame isn't ideal as it's not "real".
Just my 2 cents after reading the update and playing with it a bit. I've loved this mod from day 1. It's compatible with basically anything and has drastically changed my tribe's experience in taming dinos for the better. It's so compatible, it even un-bugs AI issues from certain other mods I've tried. A mod so well made it un-breaks other mods lol.
Keep up the good work! :)
Excellent UI and now I'm curious to see what people start posting for their taming configs.
We have certain extremely rare mod dinos (1/50,000) that some people still don't even know exist, and I'd like to keep them secret until discovered organically. Otherwise, I guess I can just hide the engram and not put down the book anywhere.. but I'd just rather a checkbox on specific dino settings to hide the entry from the public journal so I can let people browse the "known" journal entries for guidance on the IT settings.
Either via console commands or opening the radial menu of a placed journal (if a server admin)
It would have to be additional values held in the save game file. Adding anything extra to the save games gets tricky, but it's doable. I'll have a look-see.
Nothing to do with the customization, so should really go in the bug report thread. However, the mod doesn't actually modify food values in any way, but simply simulates hunger, so that issue is potentially being caused by something else.
