Feels like there's room for some very interesting mechanics with an item like this... say if it played the sounds of general combat shortly after being placed to act as a distraction?

I think the greatest stats for it would be, as you spointed in the poster, stunning the Engies, say for 3 seconds, but it deals 25% less damage, so it will have to be there for a longer period of time. What do you think?

+Sapping makes building no longer give signals of health or being sapped to engineer
-Sapper does no damage
-Spy does no damage to sentry if its sapped

This makes it really powerful if combined with a team member but useless if a spy doesn't coordinate with his team.

Since it has four options for 'track', placing the sapper on a building initially could put it into a sort of 'cognito' mode, wherin it is invisible (only you can see the wireframe), and it adds the building to your hud, sort of like the engineer's hud, but it would track how many players are near the building instead, more like a cart or control point. Alt fire could then activate your placed sappers from a distance, meaning you could sap a building from safety, and know wether or not an engie is near said building.

I was thinking as a downside, inspired the the barrage of comments asking for music, which makes a lot of sense considering it is a tape player, the unit in hand could play one of the spy's songs really loudly while sapping, and would cause him to be more vulnerable for damage, giving away his location and making him a quick and easy kill.

When I sap a building, I can't see it. It's still the original Red-Tape Recorder.

I can't seem to get the replacement for the stock Sapper to show on my player. When I view my loadout, it shows as an item, but not on the actual view model (the Spy when holding the Sapper in the loadout menu). Any suggestions?

how about for the stats
+ saps all buildings in a certian radius.
+ 10% weapon switch speed
- 200% recharge time
- 25 health points

+To enemy players (except engineers) the sentry does not appear to be sapped or being sapped.

+20% damage done to level 1-2 buildings

STAT SUGGESTION: turns sentry to your team AND makes it a mini sentry
