a great mod.The time I spend playing the original version is far less than this mod. I reduced the starting card packs to 3 packs, and made them all random. Every game feels very fun and random.

It's a design decision because we wanted to prevent people from spending ages on picking packs and get into the game quicker. Even with only 3 pack choices that'd be 90 cards to parse which is untenable. As a compromise we added the stats and tags which are there to provde a fundamental overview of a pack's synergy and fundamental effect layout.

I've played a lot of Packmaster, and while I know most of the cards in each pack at this point I think most players (Myself included) could benefit from a bit of QoL. Would it be possible to see the cards in a pack during the draft by right-clicking the pack? Is such a feature not doable, or is it a possibly a design decision to not include it?

Really glad to see new packs! Insect glaive hat seems bugged. I beat a20 heart and don't have it unlocked. I was able to unlock the Royalty hat with the rainbow variant on the same run.

is the hat for insect glaive bugged? I've done 2 runs with it now and still haven't unlocked it, despite unlocking royalty's hat

@Calcifer I would suggest trying ti out in a run at some point, I am very happy with how it ended up. If you feel like it still could use some changes, feedback is always welcome.

After a long wait, a new update is here with many wonderful contributions from the community! Other than a few bug fixes, we have a Korean localization for thanks to moviejw, this was a massive undertaking, I hope people who couldn't before can now enjoy Packmaster.

New Packs! Insect Glaive by 332, based on the weapon from Monster Hunter. This pack has a new Extract system that randomly enhance cards that you can draft from this pack and focuses on dealing big damage if you've drawn cards recently.
Royalty pack by levender, focused on support with gold generation, good defensive cards and retaining.
Rimworld was an early pack with a lot of thematic wacky effects that were strong but could've used some iteration, so laugic touched it up. This partial rework focuses on reducing the conditionals on some of the harder to pick cards.

If you know the HugYou Colors mod where it allows you to have a second character back up your run, and you choose The Packmaster as your support, it kinda immediately crashes the game

Beat the heart on A20. All packs of that run will unlock the rainbow hat and basic hat if you don't have it already.

been playing this mod for quite a while and still loving it. I still have one question. How do I unlock rainbow hats? some are some aren't I didn't get what is the criteria.

It's always worked that way! For both base game cards like Armaments and cards like the ones in the Blacksmith's pack, in-combat upgrades are temporary. Only effects like Lesson Learned, Smithing Potion, or Knighthood give permanent upgrades.

For some reason upgrades applied by cards from the blacksmith's deck disappear at the end of combat-is this an intended mechanic? I'm pretty sure in earlier runs they were permanent. Upgrades applied via the campfire or smithing potions still stick around, so that's working as usual. I've tried reinstalling the game, swapping my mod load orders every which way, only running the packmaster modpacks, and googling the issue to no avail and any assistance would be appreciated!

That error is happening because your copy of the StSLib mod is very out of date. Try unsubscribing and resubscribing from StSLib to force it to update (Steam is supposed to automatically update mods but sometimes it doesn't work properly).

We didn't make an unlock system because it'd be iffy whose work wouldn't be able to be seen by players until they've played the character a bit. Everybody wants their contribution to be seen and played with.
The hat system is what we came up with for progression and personally I think it's a great solution.

how do I only have 2 packs enabled? Whenever I do the custom select and change one from "random" to "none", the one I already had set to "none" gets set back to "random" so I'm permanently stuck with 6 packs.

@sinadona as Poison mastery generates a potion it is tagged as a card that can't be randomly generated in combat to prevent stalling for meta benefits.

New packmaster update with a big rework to the Witches Strike pack by Silver was just uploaded. The pack tried going into too many directions so it's focus has been slimmed down, concentrating on the new Arcane orbs which synergize well with the pack's new focus on playing a lot of skills. Check it out if you want!

I don't know what's happening, everything goes fine until right before the game starts and after choosing pack master and a lot of things from the Downfall list.
It just closes the game window and the log window.

New big update is out. It contains a rework for the Into the Breach pack by Enbeon to make its design more focused and removing some of the cards that didn't work quite work out.
Furthermore, we have the New Blade Storm pack by JDodi, focusing on supporting attacks. As always it also contains some small bug fixes, translation fixes and so on.
The new packs are currently not translated for ZHS, we're on it.

This is still the best mod i have ever played, to the point where I exclusively play as packmaster now. I think that of my 450 or so hours I have in this game, about 250 are playing as this character! I nearly have all the rainbow hats too :)

I have only had packmaster for one day but if anything happened to him I will kill everyone in this room and then myself.

I think this is going to be my all time favorite character, he solves every problem I have with characters in Slay the Spire and has so much variety, also the art for him is god damn adorable.

Yeah we're still reviewing and accepting new packs, however as we have close to or more than 100 packs now, the standards are a lot higher. There's a bunch of packs in development that have gone through multiple feedback rounds.

This is my absolute favorite mod. It has such incredible replayability that I'm eager to start a new playthrough immediately after finishing one. Each time feels like a brand new experience.
