@blaga54: This mod is no trojan, but the fact you try to use this extremely old, twice succeeded and obviously obsolete mod is an indication that your game is threatened by broken old mods.

Try using Skyve instead and see how much cleanup has to be done on your game.

Thank you for your "little" note :-)

I've posted a little note to Holy Water and his ghoul squad above. Many of the people he's attacking were part of the projects he claims to be saving.

Holy Water: GTFO of my comments section you absolute ghoul
raethegit Jan 24, 2022 @ 7:39pm
Looking at how the comment section here is getting abused for personal attacks, maybe it should be closed since this mod is now obsolete, as stated by the original author themself?
Finwickle Jan 24, 2022 @ 4:08am
@CardonaGamer: What happened is that I created a successor of this mod: Compatibility Report which is updated frequently.

As for the comments below, I guess Holy Water doesn't really like my mod, but they refuse a normal conversation with me and instead throw a tantrum here and there.

I invite you to have a look at my mod and decide for yourself whether is a good successor or not. I'm open for feedback on my mod page.

I found Colossal Order Keylogger Jan 8, 2022 @ 10:33am
I have created a thread on the topic of Malware at the Harmony For Games Forum where I've also given additional in-depth response to @alborzka's question.
I found Colossal Order Keylogger Jan 7, 2022 @ 8:20pm
Finwinkle's mod misinforms about the state of mods, and claims that Colossal Order's Harmony is a "successor" of Harmony (redesigned), and that several mods require Colossal's Harmony, whereas their respective authors made no such statement. (1) This misinformation seeks to get users to use a different library than authors have specified.

(2) Further, his mod makes the false claims that authors have abondoned their mods and there is no support.

(1) = interferes with the user's security and privacy, by trying to get them to substitute software with untested alternatives.

(2) is intentionally designed to deprive users of access to legitimate support, by persuading them no support is available.

I believe these facts would stand in a court of law, if you want to get technical.

Finwinkle's mod fits the commonly accepted definition of "MALWARE" perfectly.
alborzka Jan 7, 2022 @ 7:59pm
"Malware is any software intentionally designed to cause disruption to a computer, server, client, or computer network, leak private information, gain unauthorized access to information or systems, deprive users access to information or which unknowingly interferes with the user's computer security and privacy."

By definition, neither this mod nor Finwickle's mod are malware. That's not a matter of opinion, that's fact.
I found Colossal Order Keylogger Jan 7, 2022 @ 3:01pm
@Finwickle, there is nothing to discuss with you, here. I pointed out quite clearly what the misinformation is, as I have below, and there is no personal attack to you. To say that your product is MALWARE may offend you, but is not a personal attack to you, but it is my opinion, to which I am fully entitled.

Since you cannot delete my comments here, the community can judge for themselves whether my warning is a "personal attack to you"... happy gaming, it is what you make it.
Finwickle Jan 7, 2022 @ 2:24pm
@Holy: I only remove personal attacks and insults from my mod page, which happen to all come from you. If you give me constructive feedback and tell me which info you'd like corrected, I will discuss it with you, consider it and correct it where appropriate, as I wrote in a comment on my page. A little less conflict and a little more conversation will get you much further.

@JohnHenryUS Might want to read the comment history about this mod being abandoned and its records being increasingly out-of-date....
JohnHenryUS Oct 29, 2021 @ 6:49pm
Just a quick note: "Precision Engineering" generates the following log entry (in part):
- Mod seems (or is) abandonned; future updates are unlikely.

- Suitable alternative: [ID: 2083188521] "Precision Engineering 2.0"
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2083188521

Referring to that URL shows PE2.0 is deprecated and the original mod is now the proper option. That is located at https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=445589127

Thanks for a great mod!

@Finwickle, thank you for all your hard work on this, it sound really promising. Looking forward to using it! :-)

You're welcome, and thanks for the interest :-)
Gun Sep 26, 2021 @ 9:23am
Thanks for your detailed answer! Sounds even more promising. :cta_emo1:
Finwickle Sep 26, 2021 @ 7:48am
All of this is already working in the private version I'm running, except for the mod configuration and with very limited compatibility data yet. I'm currently squashing some more bugs and I'm not yet happy with the report layout and logic. After that I need to fill the bulk of the compatibility data, and that will take a while (and surely surface some more bugs with testing).
Finwickle Sep 26, 2021 @ 7:41am
@Gun: I'm creating the mod with maintainability in mind. The mod uses an XML catalog with all mod and compatibility data. The mod can download the newest catalog automatically from a Google Drive link on every run, or every week, or on demand (will be configurable). The catalog data is updated by an Updater process in the mod that only runs for a mod maintainer and gets new data from the Steam Workshop (webcrawler) and from CSV file import.

It will be easy for someone else to take over maintenance, even temporary, provided I give them access to the Google Drive. It will also be possible for multiple people to provide the needed CSV imports for different set of mods, so we can spread the workload.

I will certainly look at and/or contact existing sources of compatibility information. The Google Doc from Avanya and Aquilasols is high on my list.

Up-to-date source will ofcourse also be available on GitHub.
Gun Sep 26, 2021 @ 3:39am
@Finwickle That sounds promising. :steamthumbsup:

Just one question:

Can you make this mod in a way where it depends on compatibility information based on a file we can edit or replace if for whatever reason you won't be able to maintain your mod anymore?

Maybe it even could be based on Avanyas and Aquilasols compatibility list on google docs?
I'm pretty sure they would be happy to provide their data and to add information to their list you want to display.

Have a nice day.
Finwickle Sep 25, 2021 @ 11:05am
I'm working on a successor for this mod. It won't be released very soon, but it is in the making. Just so you all know.
algernon Sep 17, 2021 @ 6:00pm
@General Grievous Read the previous comments. This mod has been abandoned and its creator is no longer active. It will not be updated.
Admiral Electron Sep 17, 2021 @ 5:34pm
Watch it has been updated

Precision engineering is being updated again. 2.0 is actually abandoned.

Please update it, thank you.
nhatanh0475 Aug 24, 2021 @ 5:08am
Confirm this mods is outdated as it information has been busted by the link it provide itself. You could use the same old Google form compatible check that someone has update it regulary.
Finwickle Aug 12, 2021 @ 4:00am
@XiserMan: Mod Compatibility Checker itself has been abandoned as well. The information it gives is outdated by more than a year.
XiserMan Aug 11, 2021 @ 9:54pm
I found that it recommends using "Precision Engineering 2.0" which has been discontinued since the original Precision Engineering mod fixed an issue. It should no longer recommend that people switch to the 2.0 version; the original mod (as far as I am aware) has not been abandoned. Also abandoned is spelled wrong ;)

I am so sorry to post this here but I am getting no help from the discussions threads, & you guys are the best of the best!!

Can you please help?? I'm certain it is not related to this mod, but like I said you are the best of the best! I played 3 days ago without any errors, then I tried again yesterday, and none of my saves would load, they all got simulation errors. I only downloaded a couple of new assets since last playing, & I already deleted them, but no saves load still. I am totally stumped, & I have so many errors in output that did not exist before. The missing assets have always been there, but the LOD, pathfinding and even train whistle (???) are all new.

Thank you in advance!!!

@Finwickle You just tickled me in my knickers!
LemonsterOG Jun 28, 2021 @ 8:23am
@Finwickle - That would be great!
Finwickle Jun 28, 2021 @ 7:57am
@LemonsterOG: I know the work it takes, from when I was running a compatibility guide a few years back. Testing all mods by a single person is undoable, so it would have to rely on reports from others. And knowing which reports are reliable and which are not, is an art in itself. That is mostly what makes this hard to do, imho. Well, and the sheer number of mods.

I have some ideas on making a mod like this much easier to update and maintain. I might give it a try someday.
LemonsterOG Jun 28, 2021 @ 7:15am
@Finwickle -- I haven't heard any rumblings about anyone picking this up. This mod can be a LOT of on-going work. It requires constant updates due to new mods being added to the workshop sometimes daily which all require testing for compatibility with the other mods. It's a LOT of work. Most modders aren't interested in doing that.
Finwickle Jun 28, 2021 @ 5:10am
@LemonsterOG: "unless another modder picks it up, which is not likely." What makes you say that?
WHR | TMaekler Jun 27, 2021 @ 9:47am
@LemonsterOG I see. Thanks for the info.
LemonsterOG Jun 27, 2021 @ 9:25am
@tmaekler -- This mod has been abandoned. There will be no further updates after 5/15/20 unless another modder picks it up, which is not likely.

CydonianKnight21 May 28, 2021 @ 6:32am
