Is there a way to make the Hive Queen return even after being permanently defeated? I just had a REALLY awesome and fun mission with a ton of Advent and the Hive fighting each other, while my squad was picking both sides off from high ground trying not to aggro either one too much while the Queen was fighting a Legate from the Requiem mod. It was really awesome and it would suck if the Queen would never reappear again after being killed.

You are right, I'm sorry. It isn't that a hybrid WILL spawn from an infected zombie, it's that a hybrid CAN spawn from one.

I've definitely seen them before with both The Hive and Hive More active. They look like feral people (I think they use an altered version of either the lost or psi zombie animations) with chryssalid colors and arms replaced with chryssalid claws and raised up above their head.

That's the odd thing, when an infected zombie dies on its own, it spawns a standard Chrysalid (or a warrior/drone, I don't remember off the top of my head.)

Both are pretty rare. To get hybrids, let an infector infect a human/Advent, let the infected turn into an infected zombie, don't kill the zombie for 2(?) turns, and a hybrid will spawn from the zombie. The blue glowy ones are Shriekers, I've only seen them on ambushes (according to the description above, they need force level 15 too, so only later game ambushes).

I've just noticed that I never see Hybrids or those blue glowy 'Lids. I'm guessing it's some sort of weird conflict with another mod. Any known issues with The Hive: More or anything like that which could change spawns?

Has anyone tried playing with LWOTC?
What are the possible consequences? I'm ready to close my eyes to small bugs, but I need to be aware of what bugs to expect.

Depends on the type of chryssalid, some are immune, some are weak to it. Try using the mod Yet Another F1 to help tell which is which.

By the way, the Chameleons that people are complaining about: they are one of the ones weak to fire, and it also disables their vanishing ability.

Another case of an amazing mod with terrible balance. Chameleons are dog sh*t to fight and need to be redone entirely.

Great mod overall, lots of interesting additions - except for Chameleons. Chameleons are horrible and I really wish there was a way to disable them entirely - they waste so much of your time and are too tanky to kill before they go invisible and waste the next three of your turns.

It's because the non-Advent chryssalids are on "Team_One". The code that makes Advent and the Lost ignore VIPs was never added to Team_One, so they see them as valid enemy targets from mission start. The same thing happens with raider factions on "Team_Two".

Firaxis created Team_One and Team_Two to use in multiplayer, so the code to ignore VIPs wasn't needed. Highlander allows them to be used in single player, but doesn't have access to the VIP ignoring code.

this mod is nice. the models are great, and they play like bugs that got free of the advent/elders. but, my god, maybe it's my mods. with increased pod sizes, and harder enemies, then a hive appeared, it got massively chaotic. o.o good, but chaotic.

Probably more likely if you don't integrate. She's a ruler, and rulers always appear in the same order* (Viper King, Berserker Queen, Archon King, then Hive Queen). If it's not integrated, they'll show up in random missions as long as the force level is high enough. If it is integrated, they'll be guarding Advent Facilities.

You can have DLC non-integrated and the extra mission also disabled: uncheck both boxes on the DLC integration screen. It's helpful if you want them non-integrated, but don't want, or can't have (for example, the Covert Infiltration mod disables it), the extra mission. I'm also personally a fan of the mod "Alternative DLC Integration", it's (in my opinion) the best parts of both integrated and non-integrated.

*If the DLC is integrated, you might find/fight them in a different order, but they are still added to the facilities in the original order.

So I still haven't seen the queen in 3 campaigns. Is it more likely if I integrate the rulers dlc or if I don't?

Thank you for making this mod! It's had pretty much a permanent place in my load order since I found it. Of course, after a mission previously spawned a few Hive Warriors, which in turn spawned Gestation Pits which in turn spawned more Hive Warriors, I think I need to make some tweaks to the INI for the sake of my own sanity :steamsalty::steamsalty::steamsalty:

Mostly I think I'm just going to reduce the HP counts of a bunch of the different chryssalids, since I don't think I know enough about how to tinker with the INIs to prevent any chryssalid other than the Princess or Queen from creating Gestation Pits, since I feel that's an appropriate ability for hive royalty.

The queen being able to summon a real horde of chryssalids is cool and a way better gimmick than the ruler reactions.

Also, remember that she's also subject to the permanent health loss like every other ruler, if you're really getting overhwelmed, retreating is a viable choice.

She is meant to be more powerful than any of the vanilla rulers. I find her power level just fine, although a bit of a slog to fight sometimes.

phew sorry dump posting but I actually did it and all survived,but man my point stand
11 advent dead,49 chryssalids includid 11 infectors,10 drones,7 flying heal thingies,4 chameleon,11 rippers,3 shriekers and 3 hive guards (yes she called reinforcement 6 times).
There really need to be some tuning for when the queen is around,like limiting the summons.

Oh and thats just the queen ability to summon,but the hive reflex thing itself also keep sending in rippers and infectors.

It really feel too much,its overwhelming,like in a normal mission with them spawning again and again its fine,but this being a thing when the full grown queen is here,is pure just "hard to be hard" with no real counterplay,and again,she send in more reinforcement as an ability every 3-4 turn,and its like,2 normal chrys and some champion like a shrieker (lightning dude) and now she spawn a Hive Guard.

And she spawn in the mission with 2 chameleon,so more things that chase you and just woopwoop away when hit.

Its really a shame that such a cool mod with so many variety have such a weird thing added in the queen,by herself she could be a solo raid boss fight with the amount of summoning she can do.

Man I'm giving up on this mod,its just too hard,but for dumb reasons
The queen is here,ok,great,its huge,can heal 20hp,mind control chrissalids,which,so far so good
Then... She can summon flying things that can both freeze soldiers,and heal... and give armor
AND THEN,she can use "summon reinforcement" which summon 2 drones and that freakin lightning chrys,which,again,is fine

BUT THEN,SHE CAN DO IT *AGAIN* 4 TURN LATER? WHY? ONCE IS ENOUGH LMAO
So now if I don't deal with her fast enough (which most of the time CAN'T happen cause she spawn far from me,and advent is in the freakin way,so I have to deal with THEM first)

She will spawn endless waves,just eating at you,its just annoying,seriously why most mods that summon stuff don't put like,a hard limit of once,she summon a full squad man,one time is enough...

If you're using the Integrated DLC option then she should be guarding a facility like the other Rulers. I've always run unintegrated and she randomly appears on missions.

Do I need to do something special to find the Queen. I've played through two campaigns without seeing her. I've access to the final tower mission in my current run, killed two rulers and have two facilities left. One facility had no ruler at all, I'm using Chris Odd's modlist and I believe it has an added Mec ruler as well.

Its not long war compatible.. can't guarrentee it wont bug out big time or even crash the game

I'm pretty sure it works with LWOTC, but I'm not a Long War guy. I'd recommend a new campaign, but it should work fine in an existing one (be sure to get a safety save just in case).

Should be no problems. Even with just this mod, some chryssalids are with Advent and some are with the Hive Queen. (Although if memory serves, the queen can "mind control" non-hive chryssalids.) I don't remember seeing ABA chryssalids, they might have been disabled, but if not, they'd just be Advent exclusive.

i for the life of me can't figure out why i'm not getting all the items from autopsies (for example the queen doesn't give her armor) i don't know if i just have to many mods or a conflict (though aml doesn't show any conflicts which is really annoying if there is one it's just not detecting) when i run just this and it's requirements it works perfectly

-WrathOfTheChosen AIPACK
(To test i went in a mission with Chryssalids and removed the mods mid tactical and loaded without them - everything ok now)

how do I tweak the mod to remove the Broodmother Gauntlet's build limit, because if the Broodmother itself isn't a unique enemy (I.E. you'll only ever encounter one) it doesn't make sense for its gauntlet to be a unique item

Man the chameleon ruined the mod for me, all they do is run away and stall the mission for no reason and when I do scan them, the dev thought it was a good idea to make them instantly run away, making the scanner item useless anyway unless you are in a closed space

How do I change the proving ground cost of the queen armor? Can't find that in the INI-files. I want to remove all corpse requirments (don't want to prolong my campaign with multiple months just to get the corpses to build a ruler armor that should be an easy pg research).

I use the Hive and Requiem together, no problem. Try a binary search (test half the new mods at a time to find which batch has the conflicting mod, split that half in half and test again, etc.).

The mod is great and worked fine for me, but now I have installed other mods and it seems to have conflicts (may be the Requiem mod). Now I don't see the full variety of chrysalides in the mod. Does anyone know what could be causing the conflict?

Hey downloaded this mod and i am loving it. The small problem i ran into is with the hive queen armor with the ability they follow you or something like that. Its the one where it lets you spawn 2 regular chrysalids as an action. The timing is off somehow as when I use this ability all my soldiers
go and then they go after all the teams action points are spent. This makes the armors special ability worthless as they activate after all the killing is done and it takes longer to do a turn. Is there any way to fix it in an update or is there a way to fix this in the files. Also making the chameleons ai smarter and more aggressive would be appreciated. There an interesting and fun enemy but I feel like they run away too much and don't attack my soldiers when they have a clear chance to
