I'm finding that the finished/dry lumber graphic is replaced by a dark wood log texture, totally different from the raw green lumber texture. Resource Dictionary says this graphic is from Rimworld's Core but I can't find the old SC:L texture to replace it with. Other than that visual inconsistency I haven't had any issues.

it still works。For red errors, we can go to Items_Resource_Stuff.xml and change <soundImpactStuff>BulletImpact_Wood</soundImpactStuff> to <soundImpactBullet>BulletImpact_Wood</soundImpactBullet>

Still waiting on Owlchemist to get back, since they stated as much in their Ko-fi account. This and the other Simple Chains mods are core gameplay mods for me, but I haven't been into Rimworld 1.5. Imma wait and see for now

@Thetaprime That's not actually correct. The guy who updated Syrchalis' mod kept the exact same PackageID. Downside means you can't have both the old 1.4 and unofficial 1.5 installed, but upside is that mods which require it like this won't be confused about its presence.

When you update this for 1.5, the latest SYR Processor Mod is now a different mod (continued) and this mod needs to have it's dependencies updated.

@Jet it's "WoodLog". The mod just changes the graphic for the basegame wood (to look like lumber) and makes trees drop a new log item (with the old graphic) which you convert into the basegame wood so crafting recipes from the base game and mods keep full compatibility instead of having to patch their recipes for a new type of wood ingredient.

No issues with pre-existing saves here. Any existing wood will be converted into already dried lumber, and newly cut trees will be logs in need of processing.

EDIT - Except Passive Coolers . Not sure why thesecan't be made wirth firewood like campfires and torches, when it's just another pile of wood. Can't even be made from green lumber, it has to be dried lumber :/

Nice! Glad you made this. I just got done w/ playing the Medieval Overhaul mod b/c it added too much redundancy from other mods I have but enjoyed having to process raw materials to make them usable. Luckily I searched to see if I could replicate JUST that part and found this! RIP my last colony (Removing an overhaul!) but at least I have yet ANOTHER excuse to start a Tribal -> spacer 'evolution' run again!

Tracking progress by how quickly we can turn large amounts of raw materials into usable 'human' materials is my #1 part of this game. Also: Factorio! :titanattacks:

I use the mods.
I also use real fog of war, disable raid alerts, use every single vanilla expanded mod, seeds please, bad hygiene, scaria contamination, machines of war, typhon, space worms, construction components, pipe components, real darkness, thermodynamic meals, no more rice world, the nutrient mod that penalises you for not having carbs, proteins, and vitamins, the mod that forces you to make bedding for beds before making beds, the repair and maintenance mods, I play at 100% ageing speed, so for a baby 1 year ages them 1 year, realistic trade so no caravans come if they're not close by and you're not rich, I use a mod that locks all tech behind techprints so you need to go and find and apply them before you can research them, a mod that makes water cold, a mod that makes it so that pawns can drown, and a mod that makes CQC moves instant-down pawns.

I am playing Rimworld 2: Challenge Mode Boogaloo.

It sucks.

I wonder if anyone uses all three of these simple chains mods at once? I've reached power armor several times with previous colonies but with these mods PLUS another mod that requires you to use seeds for farming, this might be a harder challenge than anything else I've tried so far.

Any chance for a patch for the new Vanilla Factions Expanded - Tribals in which the Large Fire requires firewood instead of lumber as you did with the campfire?

Otherwise this 2 mods will struggle with each other as tribals blocks lumber production till you research and simple chains blocks research with the Large Fire because of the lack of lumber.

Just that tiny change -- > firewood for constructing the large fire instead of lumber, would solve the whole issue. Thanks

@Angel, RIMMSQoL can help https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1084452457 . RIMMSQol mod settings → Buildings → All walls to be edited → Materials → "+" → Logs.

@OwlChemist, suggestions:
- allow to build Hoopstone ring with logs (currently only horseshoes pin)
- Logs are considered by slaves to be a weapon with this mod

turned out to be the vanilla furniture expanded log wall. I assume it is intentionally patched to use logs instead of lumber. I wish the neolithic fortifications would use logs, they definitely look like they should

I remember there being a simpler log wall that I could use early on before getting lumber for the vanilla wall, but I can no longer find it... was it removed or was it from a different mod?

@Monkey Magic I have so much green lumber but my colonists will not take it to the drying rack to dry, it seems to need a bill to dry lumber but I cannot add any bills either

@Owlchemist - I take it we are not we supposed to be able to build with green wood, given vanilla stuff complains that there's no lumber available. But I somehow managed to place a green wood food basket (LMW's Deep Storage mod) instead of a lumber one.

You may wanna look into that

EDIT - Alos ran into an issue where pawns suddenly started complaing there were no materials to put into the drying racks. Had to uninstall, and reinstall to fix it.

@MartinShep - I think the issue is in the description. The mod states that "trees now drop raw logs" - but they just drop logs the same as vanilla. There is no change other than they can no longer be used to build stuff with.

As for your issue, you need to first build a trestle, and cut those vanilla logs into either firewood for burning, or green logs, which your pawns will automatically drag to your drying racks, and will passively dry over time (faster with some additional heat options) and turn into lumber.

Once dried, your pawns will automatically take the lumber from the rack to use. You do not need to interact with the once built. Hope that helps

I'm having a problem with the drying racks. No menu appears when right clicking it, and I can't select it normally either. By clicking and dragging to select it has no possible options to create lumber, only a category labelled "lumber" with nothing in it.

I get an error whenever I try to make firewood or wood log. When the process is over pawns just stand there a second and item disappear.

I'm having this same issue with the timber and lumber in medieval overhaul (i toggled it off to use this one to see if the issue would subside) but basically there is no recipe for timber, I can't turn wood into timber no matter which of these two I use and the issue is driving me crazy, any ideas?

Hi there, I'm using this mod with VE Ideology Dryads. The awakened woodmaker dryads are making lumber, not logs. No biggie, but I don't think this was intended. Otherwise loving the simple chains mods :)

Hi. Love the mod. Ran into an issue where red wood from Ocular Trees aren't picked up as logs so it cannot be used to make firewood or green lumber. Any ideas?

I love these chains! I'm using this with your steel mod, and coal expanded (to make steel). Sadly - it makes it so the charcoal is produced from lumber, not logs - making it a very long process! Is there a way to patch it, or for me to edit a file to change that?

While it's not a bad idea, the code is all managed by Processor Framework (the linked dependency mod) which is Syr's baby, not mine.

Could we get an option for pawns who are removing the finished lumber from the racks to always drop it on the ground? Right now it seems like a dice roll on whether they drop the finished lumber and move on to the next product, or haul it to storage. It'd be much more efficient if they could just do all the product removal first and let the haulers take care of moving it in storage.

Any chance for a patch for Fortifications: Neolithic? Palisades and Cavalry Spikes would be better made out of wood logs instead of lumber, to keep them viable for super early-game, pre-carpentry defences.

A patch for Camping Tent would also be nice, being able to build the Wooden Canopy out of Wood Logs would better fit its description.

i see what you're saying now i think, though. i did not have any lumber finished at the time i tried to run the event, it was all still green or logs. i'll have to check it out to see if it will run on a test save, perhaps

the festival/ceremony needs 4 "wood" per participant to build the lanterns. there is no drop down to select a different material or anything. i think that is a vanilla ceremony, but i'm not positive. (i ended up switching to dev mode and changing the festival to fireworks, but didnt realize the date had passed and have to wait until next year now lol)

wdym by "issue" exactly? This could be intentional, or not. It just depends on what resource is used. I could see it going either way, there isn't really a "paper" resource. I'd figure a processed wood would make a little more sense.
