Dedication+1 shows up as an Upgrade Option at Campfires but I can't actually upgrade it any further.

Interested in updating the artwork of the mod a bit? I can clean up some of the cards with white backgrounds and photographs (make them look more artsy)

Quality mod! Unique mechanics, makes you look in the game in a new way, it's everything a character mod should be. Even a new line from a certain enemy! I'm very glad I downloaded it.

So I decided to disable every mod except the essentials to run this one and Ebb and Flow worked perfectly. I'm not too sure which mod is causing the problem though.. but either way you've made a great mod. Thanks!

Yeah, sure! So I just started up another run with Ebb and Flow and the turn after playing it I draw into 6 cards: Strike - Defend - Energized Rift - Shocking Grasp - Strike - Strike. The game is asking me to discard 2 cards.

From what I understand, since Energized Rift and Shocking Grasp are spells I should only discard 1 card because I don't have an Arte. At this point in the game I just have my starter relic, there were no other powers active. The only effects underneath my character are Ebb and Flow.

Aside from the mandatory mods, I also have Aspiration, and a few other character mods like The Cursed, Koishi, the Gatherer, and the Hierophant.

The next turn I draw into another 6 cards (after reshuffling):
Defend - Shocking Grasp - Arcane Dodge - Acid Splash - Strike - Strike

The game tells me to discard 1 card even though Shocking Grasp is a spell and Arcane Dodge is an Arte.

Thanks for the report, M.K.! However, I put the card into my starter deck and ran a run with it, and I didn't see any inconsistencies. Could you provide more information, such as what relics you had, what other mods were installed, what cards were in your hand when you noticed this issue happening, what other powers you had active, and anything else that may be relevant?

The card Ebb and Flow doesn't work after a few rounds and will eventually ask me to discard two cards despite having both a Spell and Arte in hand.

@メロン yes! good eye. Surprised you caught that, as I made sure to snip out the identifying tail and ears. Though in fact, I took one screenshot of my character as a red mage, another as a summoner, and snipped the arm of the summoner onto the red mage in order to get that sword/book aesthetic before cutting the rest of it apart to use as an animation skeleton. All of this because actual art is hard. Had to take it from *somewhere*

I'll continue trying this mod, but while I like a lot of the other technical mod characters I just really dislike this one. Doesn't help either that my luck is so bad that if I want to make a certain kind of deck the game will give me zero cards related to that concept, so even if this mod looks fun there's no way I'd ever get to enjoy it.

Just wanted to tell the author that your mod is one of my favorite. I had so much f***ng fun playing it. It's the most satisfying character I played so far - and I play mods for this game since the creation of the dedicated GitHub.
Everything you did on it feels balanced, well integrated within the game ; it's understable, it's brilliant !

UPDATE: Chose Busted Crown instead, which did allow me to continue the game. All the way to beating the heart. Not such a bad bug after all. Cheers! :-)

That skill that says something like "The next Spell (two spells) you play is played twice" doesn't work correctly with that magic missile Spell - the second cast always shoots only a single missile, no matter the circumstances.

I don't know if I'm just bad at this character or what but I've lost literally 20 times in a row on ascension 17. It was pretty fine through to 16 and it just became impossible on 17.

There was a learning curve but the concept is really cool and I got a good like 25 hours out of this character before getting sick of it and never going back.

@Johnny_Devo I'm sorry, after I posted I uninstalled the mod, as the sounds were just too distracting to me. The two sounds were a wave sound, and kind of a clashing sound with a ring, but they were massively distorted, tinny, and came out of my back speakers in my surround sound setup.

Yeah, it's a known bug. At least, known that it exists. I even just went and loaded up all the same mods that you're using to make sure, and no luck. Kobting and I cannot for the life of us reproduce the bug.

I tried out the Summon Familiar spell. It did nothing, with the exception of granting a single stack of power. I assume that's a bug.

For reference, my list of installed Mods: BaseMod, StSLib, Replay the Spire, Friendly Minions, The Construct, The Disciple, and The Mystic.

I do understand it's a bit different, but all that information is available either in the descriptions or the tooltips of the two starter cards. And you can tell when a card is a Spell or an Arte by the word right above their description, or by the color/shape of the description box itself.

The cards need more readability. I have no idea where poise/etc comes from or why it sometimes works or doesn't neither do I know what "arte" means.

Out of curiosity, which sound-effect are you talking about? Is it a sharp noise, or more of a "vwum" noise?
I'm asking because I just changed the former to the latter a few minutes ago, and i'm not sure if you'd have already gotten the update.

The added sound effects are annoying and unnecessary. On my setup they come out shallow, distorted, and are just irritating.

The Mystic actually does not have any unlocks. Unlocks are just a part of a character's framework, and I never really decided to implement it on my character. I also currently feel it's not worth going through and hiding the unlock system specifically for mystic, since I may change my mind in the future

I love this mod! It's great! Been having a lot of fun, but the only thing out of place I noticed is that when you reach a level of unlock, it doesn't show you what cards o relics you unlock, so you have to go to the compendium and check it there. Nothing really bad but it would be cool if it were like the original characters with that unlock thing. Excelent work!

I've had a Lot of trouble getting a deck going for this mod. I wanted to give a fair review, so I used Draft mode, and managed to get a really nice magic missile/cantrip deck going! So, in conclusion... I like this a lot! The concept is cool - I've done a lot of d&d homebrew, and gishes are a favorite of mine - and the implementation is solid. I don't even mind the art - it's far superior to using base assets with slight changes, imo.
My main criticism is that it feels like it could use some more obvious Draft Archetypes. silent can very clearly go Shiv or Poison at minimum, ironclad has some huge signposts saying Strength or Block, defect says 0 Cost or Orbs. Magic Missile does good at this, but... I dunno. Maybe I haven't unlocked enough, or the charrie just hasn't clicked for me yet. I did have a lot of fun in that run, though! Upgrading Dedication to like +10 in an endless run is so good. Thanks for sharing this! :)

Dedication costs too much now, even if you can upgrade it multiple times. You should just have it cost 1 energy, give 1 dex and 1 str and upgrade to 2 of each. Right now it needs to be upgraded three times to be better than Footwork+ or Inflame+ (3 energy for 4Dex/ Str vs 2 Energy for 3Dex/Str from both cards together). It's an always skip now where as before was okay with an upgrade.

I really like the mod, so far it's my favorite custom character, I feel like "Arte" and "Spell" don't do enough outside of synergy with other Arte or Spells, making the starting deck incredibly weak. Maybe turn momentum into the starting relic or tie it into power and poise innately if not everything is going to be a "Spell" or "Arte"? Right now the class, imo, feels best to play with the "Crystal Ball" modifier, but I'm sure that would make the character more powerful than intended.

As it is, I wanted something that wasn't just "re-hashed base-game assets". To fit that, my choices were either open-art websites, a smattering of assets from other games, or comissioned art. I don't have money for option 3, so I went with options 1 and 2. I really do wish I could afford 3, though.
