What is the best difficulty slider level to keep the spirit of the game but without the punishment for keeping/maintaining/purchasing more units? They shouldnt scale just cause im doing well

@Gareth - Getting HWRM and mods to work correctly on Linux / Proton / SteamOS can be a challenge, some users have had success while others have had issues. HWRM works best on a Windows PC.

@Specialka - We previously heard HWRM had an engine limitation of 250 units per class, however in testing the limit is actually ~180 units per class.

This works fine on my desktop, but on my steam deck, I get access violations as soon as the first mission goes to load. If I install manually, I get them after each mission, as the next one loads. An issue with SteamOS, maybe?

Hello, is it normal that when I play a Vs AI game, the fighter class is limited to 250 (displayed) but I can only build only 180 units max ? Is it a bug ?

@Kamijou_Touma - I'd suggest playing skirmish at a lower difficulty to fit your needs, or watching youtube videos to learn more strategies and tips. Some players are able to defeat multiple Expert AI and actually wanted stronger AI, hence we added an AI Attack Damage adjuster for more challenging games.

@NateDogg - Haha, hopefully HW3 will continue to be improved with future updates.

@Insomniac Bastard - Linux Proton can definitely be a compatibility challenge. Some people have had success but its definitely finicky and I don't have Linux myself.

Beside the professional AI seems have a more quick product and research speed , this is no fair. When I use more advanced ships , although a little numbers, I could HARDLY take out AI's basic ships. Maybe lack of ships is the reason, but when I use the basic ships to fight with AI's, I have fallen into the pre-set of this mod's mode. That is you HAVE to build from basic ships to advanced ships one by one, that's no fun bro. The advance ships should take obvious advantage in fight with the basic ships. The original game or this mod is NOT doing well at this part. Please take some modifications,Thanks.

the professional AI has a more quick research and more resources , I think this is not a balance policy. I suggest the professional AI either has quick research or has more resources, but NOT the two of them. Thank you!

I don't even know if remakes are a good idea or not. I'm just hoping for new HW content that recaptures the magic of the original series, you know, everything HW3 was suppose to be but wasn't. But now I'm just kicking a dead horse. I'm glad you're optimistic about the HW3 engine, hopefully modders can salvage this franchise somehow. You have my endorsement, if that matters to you.

Yes I agree HWR had better gameplay story, etc but the engine is extremely buggy and limited, even it's scripted language is very outdated. HWU will be bringing some hw1/2 content to hw3 but if your looking more for remakes of 1/2/cata you probably wont see those anytime soon, that will take a long time to do since everything will have to be done from scratch

I just want more classic HW content, whether its in the HW3 engine or some other engine is irrelevant to me. And seeing as HWR is "vastly superior" to HW3, I would hope to see those modders involved too.

Right but HW3 engine is vastly superior to HWR engine, so modding in HW3 is much better. Even HWU is moving to HW3 modding.

@Cloaked - Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's no good. Tried a new profile, tried off of Proton Experimental, even tried going back to Proton 8-0-5 in case it was a newer version giving me problems. Dead ends, one and all. I could try sending a crash log if need be but I'm beginning to think SteamOS just hates Homeworld being modded.

@Wicked Sticky - I'm not aware of any commands that cause crashes due to the patch, however the base game certainly has its problems.

@SuperStruct - No, however pathfinding works pretty decent in HWR and this patch does not change it.

@tkdbackkick - Correct. Otherwise some file conflicts may be minor, while others will lead to problems.

@Red Fox - I did a quick test and the assault turrets appear to turn independently. Shoot at secondary targets is enabled, however they seem to prefer the primary target.

Has anyone been able to get this to work on the Steam Deck? I've got it on Proton Experimental, I've tried the suggestions on the troubleshooting thread three times each and its an access violation every time, without fail. I'm not sure if this is just because of Proton or there's something else wrong.

Has some issues and occasionally certain commands cause crashes but fixes a lot more problems than it solves.

Does anyone know why pathfinding ran into errors in the base game.
Does it have to do with state machines and balancing priorities?
or is it mathmatical functions being used to calculate distance that had errors in them?

@Red Fox - Its unfortunate so many bugs/issues were not officially patched by Gearbox.

@COLT - Each race has their strengths and weaknesses, we have not added weapons to ships.

@咕咕咕 - It appears those mods have file conflicts and do not work with the patch.

Sadly with the mod active, and *only* this mod (which is the only mod I use), I get an access violation if I start a campaign or skirmish.

hi, i noticed that there are point defense turrets on vagar destroyers and battle cruisers, i think it will be suitable to add point defense turrets to Hiigara ships, but im wondering why u guys dont add them

After more test here's the result:
1.setup everything like your troubleshooting thread with only this mod every thing is ok.
2.if using this mods with any language pack(e.g. chinese language pack) still crash when loading M8.
3.if using this mods and 'Capture All Mod', also will crash when loading M8.

@jpinard - Thank you! Yes I'd recommend it for a first time player. The patch makes units relatively closer to their classic stats, performance, and feel while enabling SP and MP balance across all races. The goal is to make all units useful and effective at what they are supposed to do.

This is quite an impressive mod. For a first time player to Homeworld 1C, do you suggest I use this? I see a lot of changes to costs, so I'm not sure if those are tuned more towards mp or sp.

I've been TRYING to use one of the "Duel Commands" to control the two races in the skirmish, I did put them in the same team (number) & set them all in Duel Commands, it didn't crashed, but EVERY attempt was a failure, NOT letting me to start the game. Can you explain WHAT I'm doing wrong?

UPDATE, looks like it must have had something to do with Mission 9 that was crashing it. (while loading, when done Access Violation) I followed the troubleshoot steps again to no avail, but the Difficulty Scaling mod by itself without these goodies seems to work if you are on Steam Deck. it is dumb and silly this game could not have just come with a slider pre-built "Change Dynamic Difficulty to Mirror Original Homeworld Rather than Remastered" and just let the player select it from the get go lol

Finally got this Players Patch mod working, for first time. was interesting playing around with The SUpport Frigates holding onto units in passive, made it 3 missions to Mission 8 and it's doing the Access Code Violation again, which is a bummer because i haven't added or done anything to corrupt the mod I thought. following steps again, if it still won't let me load in I'll try the Difficulty Scaling mod back again. maybe the launcher hanging and having to close it via steam button everytime corrupted it? who knows. will update later so anyone else might see using a steam deck too and could gain some help from this

@1192292 - The patch changed Support Frigates to keep units docked in Passive tactics and launch units in Offensive tactics. So they can now carry docked units through hyperspace like hw1c.

@Joseph - Sounds like the workshop mod got corrupted, try following the steps again exactly.
