Please consider validating files in Steam to make sure it downloads the latest scenario files to your PC.
A new save game is not mandatory unless otherwise stated. It is your choice or the choice of your server owner whether to continue an existing save game or start a new one.
In order to apply updates to the PDA to a singleplayer game you must run the pda readdata console command after deactivating any active missons. NOTE: may reset your mission progress.
Please see the pinned discussions and links for questions around general server setup or customization of the scenario.

Hotfix for Project Eden: (No Build Change)
  • Tentative fix for crashing on Ice moons.
The updated playfield folders are EdenMoonIceOuter, EdenMoonIceOuter2, EdenMoonIceOuter3, EdenMoonIceOuter4.

To possibly recover a save game that was crashed due to this issue:
NOTE: only do this if you are familiar with file editing, yaml structure, and where to find your save game files. Notepad++ or another good text editor recommended. FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Open your save game's Templates folder and sort by date modified. The ice moon you last tried to enter will most likely be near the top of this folder list.
Open up the playfield.yaml file for that ice moon using Notepad++.
Search for any lines containing any of the following:

AuxiliaryPOIs
IsAuxPOI
SpawnPOINearRange (if found next to IsAuxPOI)

Completely delete those lines.

AGAIN, ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ARE AN ADVANCED USER EXPERIENCED AND KNOWLEDGEABLE WITH YAML FILE EDITING AND EMPYRION PLAYFIELDS.

Update for Project Eden: (Build 36)

Project Eden:
If you want the updated missions in singleplayer you can deactivate any active mission then use the pda readdata console command. This may wipe your current mission progress however. On servers the PDA is automatically updated. The new Derelict Station POI requires an updated PDA.

Derelict Station update for The Infected mission:

  • Completely remade the Derelict Station used for The Infected mission from scratch using Vermillion's fantastic Polaris Construction Set.
  • Added new infected NPCs, turrets, spawners, lifts, etc. Added numerous special effects and audio.
  • Added a multi-stage boss fight at the end. Added a one time reward worth 2 ultra rare containers.
  • Number of enemy spawns is now adjusted based on number of players in the playfield, with optionally being able to increase (but not decrease) the difficulty for more challenge. Note: COOP seems to add an extra player to the difficulty count, probably due to how COOP works.
  • Note: Server owners should be able to update the POI by performing a POI wipe on the Derelict Station Delta playfield. USE THE CONSOLE COMMAND OR EAH TO DO THIS, DO NOT DELETE PLAYFIELD FILES MANUALLY. You have been warned.
  • Slight update to the Lost Colony and Lost Colony Ship to move some of the LCD screens into dialog.

New caves:

  • Added a ton of new visual decals for POIs focused around caves.
  • Added several new cave types and updated existing caves. Caves will show up on the detector at 3000 meters and now can contain treasure boxes, harvestable crystals, missions, and a variety of new decorative decals. You can find caves on desert oasis, temperate, and jungle planets and on crystalline and vulcanic moons.
  • Caves now have admin cores, preventing digging. Doesn't seem to actually work though for some reason.

Misc:
  • Added new blocks for POIs such as spawners, interior turrets, harvestable crystals, and dialog. Added new NPCs for infected POIs.
  • Added a warning on the Project Eden Alien Block group that they are, indeed, intended only for creative mode by the scenario developer and are not for use in survival.
  • Increased hp of reinforced dialog consoles from 2000 to 5000. These are used for missions and should not be salvaged. Seriously, stop it!
  • Halved mass and volume of faction trading ice from rich ice asteroids. It took up too much space for how much work it is to sell it all.
  • Balanced Polaris orbital refinery trader. Now pays less for ore and charges more for ingots.
  • Disabled space defense for pirate defense satellites in ice fields.
  • Removed Bandit combat sites from the T4 combat site selection pool and increased chances for Class 6 combat sites to 15%.
  • Fixed legacite ore giving tungsten ore instead of tungsten ingots.
  • Fixed description of black hole systems (thanks to Flakeinator for reporting it).
  • Changed variable type on UCH Research Vessel quartermasters. Should no longer be able to get multiple supplies from the same ship on servers when the POI regenerates.
  • Changed end step of The Progenitors - Part 1 to require accessing a console to earn the reward. Fixed exploit allowing to complete mission multiple times.
NOTE: Server owners will need to update the POI at the very end of the dyson sphere mission by either wiping the playfield or adding a dialog enabled console to it with the dialog set to Eden_DysonEnd_Init (use gm iv, place console in the POI, press F on it and copy paste Eden_DysonEnd_Init into the entry box).
  • Removed Zirax POIs from Haven/Persephone/Gaia and Akua starting orbits.
  • Changed DroneBase on Haven/Persephone/Gaia into a normal POI spawn instead of a command center. It should spawn now and allow people to complete missions involving it on those starting planets.
  • Added note to Strange Statues and Object 82 hints that those are not tracked in your PDA.
  • Added a new custom music track from Alexander Jordan to UCH Research Vessels. You can control the music through a new keypad in the briefing room behind the bridge. Also used to access the scenario admind config menu.
  • Added Hades star system and POIs as a placeholder for future missions. This will allow you to wipe those playfields to add the missions to an existing save game in a future update.
  • Increased credit rewards from mining missions.
  • Scenario Change Log button now leads to the latest update notes on the Steam Workshop page.
  • Added new seasonal decorative block and head prop to UCH Quartermasters. The appearances will change throughout the year.
  • Added all schematics to the UCH Schematics seller. You can now sell any type of schematic to them.

  • Fixed missing insignia in Kamirat'te-Class Battlecarrier in combat sites.
  • Fixed indestructable grate in Artillery Control Center.
  • Small update to Pentaxid Mining Facility. Increased shield HP. Added pentaxid ore as loot.
  • Updated decals on Foundry.
  • Added an additional new variation of the JLN Legionnaire wreck (thanks to RtBucco).
  • Added new Logos folder to the scenario that has the Reforged Eden png logo for use in videos or blueprint screenshots. Original logo was created by D34DP5YCH0 for the scenario and community that plays it. Please respect this and do not use these logos to promote content from other scenarios.
  • Lowered market price on some POI specific blocks for compatibility with mods.
  • Added new loading screenshots and upscaled all existing ones to 2k resolution so they should show up better in 2k. Used lower jpg quality to reduce file size. (Thanks to Garaman, Geoffman72, Pantheis, PxxLz, Slappy_Nuts, Stan, WesternDevil, Akeva, Samsquatch, thescripthd. I apologize if I missed anyone in the credits please let me know!) (Reforged Eden only)

    Continued in next post:

Update: Oct 9, 2022 @ 1:56am

Continued from last post:

  • Added new lift blocks craftable in the device tab of constructors.
Lifts can be controlled via signal and will rise or lower depending on their ON/OFF state. They take up only 1 block space and other blocks can be placed below the block they take up.
These are experimental and may cause issues. To pick them up via multi tool you must aim either at the control pad or frame on the top of the lift. Setting up two buttons and using a XOR signal to control them works well.
Currently there are 2, 3, and 4 high 1x1 lifts, and a 3 high 2x3 lift. (Huge thanks to Vertex Rage Studio (bOBaN) for the model. Note that the 2x3 lift was originally 1x1 so it might look a little stretched compared to the others)
If they work well and people like them I'll add more sizes in the future.
  • Added new Project Eden decorative block group to the deocoration tab of constructors. Moved warning lights to this block group and added a button and a keypad that can be used as switches. Great for use with the new lifts using a XOR circuit. (Huge thanks to Vertex Rage Studio for the models).
  • Updated model for scanning and expedition tables. (Huge thanks to Vertex Rage Studio for the base table models. Noticing a trend? He makes fantastic models and I seriously appreciate it.)
  • Added Salvage Core, unlocked in the Misc tab of the tech tree after Base Starter. A reusable core that can be picked up with the F key. Convenient for salvaging wrecks. (Thanks to KnowItAllDM for the idea from his Claim Core from Star Salvage)
  • Adjusted tooltips to clarify that Project Eden blocks need either Project Eden or Reforged Eden. People were getting confused thinking they couldn't use Project Eden blocks in Reforged Eden.
  • Fixed broken grass texture in hydroponics bays.
  • MX-4 Rapid Torpedo Launcher: Increased blast and direct damage from 3000 to 3600. Increased range from 900 to 950. Reduced reload timer from 15 to 10. Increased homing speed from 0.5 to 1. Added arrows to show which direction needs to point forward.
  • Heavy Blaster Cannon reload time reduced to 5 seconds from 10 seconds.
  • Increased LX-2 Prototype Light Railgun damage modifier versus devices (metallight/metal/metalhard) by 20% from 1.0 to 1.2.
  • Updated icon for warning lights.
  • You can now change the color of warning lights between red, orange, and yellow by damaging them with a survival or multitool. Note: light color gets reset to red if you repair your ship. Increased angle and range of the light source.
  • Changed Light Railgun Turret model to match the Heavy Railgun Turret. (It can no longer aim straight up but can now pitch down making it more usable for player ships in 90% of situations).
  • Reduced cut industrial diamond craft time from 3600 to 900.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Make sure you do not use a custom "Config.ecf" file under your root Empyrion/Content/Configuration folder when playing the scenario.
If you do you must either delete it, rename it, or update it to work with the scenario.
Failure to do so may result in game crashing errors.

Update for Project Eden: (Build 34)

Project Eden:
  • Increased size of pentaxid deposits on pentaxid rich crystalline moons.
  • Adjusted scanning and expedition missions (still WIP and not at all nearly done).
  • Added a new type of bounty patrol vessel to cold orbits. These give you a payout after destroying their core.
  • Adjusted detection range of strange plant formations on tropical and strange temperate planets. Now set to 500 meters.
  • Reduced shield damage modifier of POI swarm launcher from 0.2 to 0.15.
  • Added debug multitool that can remove reinforced blocks.
  • Increased hardness of POI reinforced cargo containers from 15 to 150, reducing damage taken by 90% to help them survive battles.
  • Added many new decals and blocks for POIs. NOT FOR PLAYER USE.
  • Changed blue deco crystal POIs to use a new block you can harvest for resources.

  • Sector Command shield now recharges on crusted lava planets. (Reforged)

Update for Project Eden: (Build 33)

New planetary decoration:
The new planetary decorations have not been added to any planets yet. This is because it's not ready for scenarios to use yet, and because I don't currently have time to add it to all planets.
I will most likely wait until the system gets documentation and has been tested for singleplayer and multiplayer.
I have a big planet update planned for later after the deco system becomes fully available to scenarios, but I may add it to a few planets as a test before then.

New starting planets:
I am also not including the new Crown starting sector or new starting moons from 1.8. This is because it would take more work than I have time for at the moment since several of my planets share the same names as the new starting system.
I may rename my existing planets and add Ellyon as its own dedicated starting solar system later.

New missions: (Applies to Project Eden only)
1.8 changes the vanilla starting missions. Currently I have not added them since they would also require the above two changes and I simply do not have time to do this at the moment.
The new starting missions also rely on 273mb of new files which I really cannot add to the scenario since there is a size limit on scenarios that are uploaded to the Workshop and that would greatly cut into my allowed size and increase the download burden on servers.
The existing vanilla missions may also be broken due to changes in vanilla POI prefabs, so going forward I will no longer be able to maintain the vanilla missions in Project Eden.
I know this may be a dissapointment to some but the Empyrion developers have spent a lot of work getting custom pictures, audio, and video set up with the new missions and if I added them without that it would not only cause console errors, but also not show the missions as they were meant to be played and cheapen the experience.
This will also allow me to focus on the custom content in the scenario without needing to build it around the vanilla missions, though I may include select custom missions in the scenario in the future where it makes sense.
Reforged Galaxy missions will still be supported, and those have not changed this update.

Block ID mapping error in save games:
Unfortunately there's not much to update on this. We don't know of any way to fix it from the scenario side of things, and it's been hard to reproduce as it only affected certain people.
I wish I had more of an answer for everyone but the reality is that when modding games, there's a chance that things can go wrong through no fault of anyone. Always keep your work-in-progress ship and base designs saved to a blueprint file, as ships and resources can always be spawned back into a new save game but not easily recovered from a corrupt save.

Project Eden:
  • Updated all starting planets to have carbon deposits and depletion meteors as appropiate. Carbon might not have much use yet in Reforged Eden but it has been added to all started for future compatibility. Carbon surface rocks are unable to be added unless you use the new planetary decoration system.
  • Doubled the size of sun flares in the galaxy config file to compensate for the halving of sun flares in the game. Only applies to a NEW save game.
  • Added 3 new star variations.
Note: the colors of all stars also seemed to have changed in 1.8 compared to 1.7. I had originally spent a lot of time setting up the colors and now they might not look like I had intended. I don't know when I will have time to go back through and tweak them all so for now this is what we have to work with.
  • Cruise missile turrets can no longer be repaired to template.
  • Fixed error on Tropical and Jungle planets. No idea what the error was or why it was causing an issue, but fixed it is. Will most likely not apply to games that already broke because of this error sadly.
POTENTIAL FIX FOR EXISTING SAVES (use at own risk): Go to your save game's Templates folder, find the planet name you got stuck on (sort by last modifed may be easiest), open up Playfield.yaml in Notepad++:
    Anywhere you see the following:
    AuxiliaryPOIs: - RuinsTribal
Remove the "- Ruins Tribal". And if that leaves AuxiliaryPOIs blank, remove that as well.
    Find anywhere that says:
    - GroupName: RuinsTribal
And if it has a "IsAuxPOI: true" listed below it, remove that "IsAuxPOI: true" line completely.
Save the file and try loading your save game again.
And again, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. MAKE BACKUPS.

  • Added new Config_PE and Config_RE files to the scenario's content folder and added notes to the galaxy config file.
FOR SERVERS: You may read the directions at the top of the galaxy config file, or inside each of the two new config files to lower the max star count and increase the warp range if needed for save game stability on larger multiplayer servers.
I cannot guarantee how much impact lowering the star count will actually have, but it is now a little easier for you to do if you choose to.

Update: Jun 19, 2022 @ 4:56pm

Please consider validating files in Steam to make sure it downloads the latest scenario files to your PC.
A new save game is not mandatory unless otherwise stated. It is your choice or the choice of your server owner whether to continue an existing save game or start a new one.
Please see the pinned discussions and links for questions around general server setup or customization of the scenario.

If you are planning on starting a new save game please wait until after the NEXT update as it will contain a fix for the star flares.
This update will not be able to fix it in an existing save game so if you care about the appearances of stars please don't start a new save game quite yet.
I will try to get the next update out in a week or two, depending on my schedule.
Thank you everyone.

Update for Project Eden: (Build 32)
  • Updated automated drill turret and excavator drill turret visuals.
  • POI beam laser turrets are no longer craftable.
  • Added 2 new traders to UCH research vessels (not in starting systems) for use in future missions and trading.
  • Updated playfield types of some space playfields for future missions.
  • Updated Xenuan Carrier. Increased max shield and shield recharge. Added reinforced loot containers. Now contains an advanced core box (quantum core box for Reforged).
  • Increased ice and rich asteroid drill max count from 8 to 10.
  • Increased auto ice and rich asteroid drill turret max count from 6 to 12.
  • Increased excavator turret max count from 4 to 6.
I realize these changes may require some redesign on existing mining ships when used with block limits, but the alternative is to never change anything at all so... Enjoy more drills.

Update for Project Eden: (Build 31)
  • Fixed error in Templates file.
  • Fixed unmineable ore surveys on Haven/Persephone/Gaia.
  • Updated several auto-activated PDA missions to remove available notifications and set drone ambushes to appropiate factions.
  • Set reactivation delay of new scanning missions to 1 second.
  • Updated descriptions of auto mining turrets since they work on servers while in the pilot seat now.

Update for Project Eden: (Build 30)
  • Updated Unity bundles to fix display issues.
Please note the new disclaimer on the main workshop page description. These bundles are created by myself or others for use within this scenario only unless you have permission.

Bounty update:
  • Added new rare bounty NPC to XCorp Mainframes and bounty drone to hot orbits.
  • Doubled credit reward from bounties and bandit/raider insignias.
  • Added new periodic reward from destroying cores of bandit and raider patrol vessels.
  • T1, T2, and T3 beam laser turrets no longer turn into player versions when picked up and can now be salvaged or deconstructed for resources. T4 beam laser turrets still give the player version. (you should not be able to buy the ammo for the NPC turrets, so please let me know if you can)
Planning on more updates to the bounty system.

Exploration update:
  • Added new scanning missions available in some exploration sites. They will be visible in the PDA under Science and Scanning while in playfields that have them avaiable.
  • Added new scanning station that can initiate scans for the above missions instead of having to activate them in the PDA.
  • Added new WIP science station. This will be used for expeditions IF testing on a server works out for these. Non-functional at the moment.
  • Changed PlanetType for exploration sites to support the new scanning missions.
    This system is heavily WiP.

Misc:
  • Removed mention of small constructor requirement for refining silver ore.
  • Added silver deposits to vulcanic moons and added large silver deposits that have about 30% more ore.
  • Dense and Rich ice asteroid hp increased from 6000 to 9000. Dense and rich ice mining yield increased by 50% from 1 to 1-2. Compressed ice yield increased. This is based on player feedback and means you will get on average 50% more dense and rich ice from an ice field.
  • Increased HP and average yield of rich asteroids by 25%.
  • Increased damage of excavator turret from 80 to 120. This gives it a 50% damage bonus per CPU, double the range, and greater ammo efficiency compared to the T1 auto drill turrets.

  • Drone Swarm faction now attacks NPCs. (Needed for certain special encounters)
  • Added variant of Drone Swarm Assembler and Capacitor Matrix (Thanks to AkevaBanshee).
  • Redid drone swarm POI groups and now some POIs only appear inside the Dronelands. This may cause some playfields to be empty.
  • Added new POI remote shield booster turret and POI shield capacitor T0.
  • Increased range of POI swarm launcher from 1200 to 1350.
  • Added a terrifying new class 5 combat site to the Dronelands with a POI that has a chance to drop intact drone swarm cores.
  • Adjusted sector POI probabilities and counts in drone systems.
  • Lowered number of Syndicate outposts in Syndicate Casino sectors and removed raider outposts. Removed space defense probabilities and AI parameters.
  • Gauss Vulcan Turrets can no longer repair to template.
  • Increased market price of large vulcan rounds from 4 to 20. Doubled output yield, plate, and nitro powder cost. (This means you craft them twice as fast with half the tungsten cost).
  • Increased antimatter warp drive unlock cost from 0 to 1 so you have to actually unlock it to craft it.
  • Updated icons for bandit insignias and Zirax bounty insignias.
  • Added zirax silver silos to methane moons in Zirax territory.
  • Added a chance of new asteroid fields to orbits as a test. The asteroids in the new fields have randomized size, shape, and color, are purely visual, have no collision, and do not stop projectiles. They break apart if you fly into them.
  • Fixed getting stuck whben first spawning in one of the starter POIs on Tallodar.
  • Removed medical bay from Colonist Main Trade Hub (PE version).
  • Increased blast damage of XCorp plasma rifle from 75 to 125.
  • Increased volume of POI only blocks from 500000 to 800000 to account for Reforged changes.

Update for Reforged Eden: (Build 28)

Project Eden:
  • Rich ice deuterium reduced from 4 to 2. HP reduced from 9000 to 6000.
  • Ice drills and ice drill turrets now require 1 autominer core to craft. Can still be purchased for credits from Colonists.
  • Purchase price of ice drill schematic increased from 500,000 to 1,000,000 credits.
  • Marketprice of deuterium fuel cells increased from 325 to 50000 to discourage buying it from station services. (I can't stop it from being sold by station services but this still keeps the option of doing so, though it will be very expensive.)
The result of these changes is you're no longer as penalized for mining dense ice compared to rich ice if all you're after is deuterium.

  • Increased ingot yields from rich ore asteroids. Increased HP of T1 rich ore asteroid from 6000 to 7500.
  • Increased promethium pellet cost of industrial fuel from 300 to 600.
  • Increased range of ice and ore auto drill turrets from 450 to 700. Increased range of excavation turrets from 1250 to 1500.
Further changes may happen in the future, including new types of attacks.

  • Fixed typo in survey hot systems that mentioned dessert planets (though those do sound nice).
  • Increased probability and variety of sector nebula in standard orbits. Now most orbits have a 20% chance of having a random sector nebula or fog effect, based on whether it's a habitable, cold, or hot system. Please leave feedback if this is too frequent.
  • Fixed Legacy drones being set to Warlord faction in cold alien orbits.
  • Rewrote secure supply cache hacking dialog to hopefully fix it for servers to use variables instead of signals. Now each player can only hack each supply cache once.
  • Reduced energy in of auxiliary core (CPU) from 250 to 125. Increased energy cost reduction of auxiliary core (power) from -300 to -500.
  • Added T0 shield capacitor for POIs.
  • Added missing POI updates from previous version (Corrupted Xenuan Carrier and Luark Station).

A compatibility update will be released shortly after 1.8 goes live. This update will fix the broken models and add the new planetary decoration blocks but will not update any planets or add the new vanilla starting system or missions yet.
A larger planet and missions update for Project Eden is planned later this year.
Existing save games should be fine when 1.8 goes live but it's recommended to wait for the compatibility update.

  • Cruise Missile range increaded from 1050 to 1100. EMP Cruise Missile range increased from 1000 to 1050.
  • EMP Cruise missile base damage increased from 2750 to 3300 (20% increase).
  • You can no longer deconstruct salvaged drone processors due to not getting any items when deconstructing them in batches less than 100 (I will add a NPC later you can trade them in to later).
  • Added infrarfed beam lasers and a shield to Luark Station. Replaced 2 of the common alien containers with a very rare and rare container.
  • Removed hidden rear thrusters from Kamirat'te-Class Battlecarrier.
  • Corrupted Xenuan Carrier: added extra advanced core loot box (quantum) and second corrupted reinforced loot box.
  • Conveted all Drone Mothers to patrol vessels to hopefully fix them despawning.
  • Updated dronebase configuration for an attempted fix for infinite spawning reinforcements around zirax pentaxid mining facility and pirate battlestation.
  • Added chance for colonists outposts on ice moons.
  • Fixed incorrect faction on space voidium formations (only applies to new star systems. In SP you can use gm iv to harvest broken ones).
  • Reduced profit margins on optronics and robotics from Eden factories.
  • Increased average number of silver deposits on planets and moons.
  • Reduced range of Sentinal Flak Turret from 550 to 500. Reduced damage from 2000 to 1500 (1250 to 1000 for Reforged).
  • Silver can now be processed in the small, large, and advanced constructor.

  • (Reforged) Added Reforged trading goods from processing dense and rich ice.
  • (Reforged) Added factories to Lava and Crusted Lava planets. Added a chance for additional factories on some planets while within Polaris territory.
