v 1.3 changes:

* Added back Chemistry, removed all gunpowder units.
(Considering the +1 Attack is only for the first attack it won't have much effect if your ranged units are going to attack continuously without moving so I added it back, but it will reward players who micro their Cavalry Archers - and maybe Galleons - to kite)

* Added back Plate Mail Armor, removed Halberdier.
(This will mean both Barracks and Archery Range will no longer have Imp Age foot units, justifying the need for Persians to have strong mounted units, but at least Pikemen will not be completely weak with Plate Mail Armor back)

* Changed experimental bonus to Cavalry Archers have +1 Attack in Castle Age, +1 in Imperial Age.
(I wanted to try a bonus for Cavalry Archers that was different to other civs while giving them a hit and run feel)

* War Elephant and Elite War Elephant movement speed reduced to 0.65 from 0.7.
(This is to compensate for the change below)

* Mahouts movement speed bonus reverted to 30% from 25%.
(I can't seem to find a way to balance the movement speed bonus for both elephant units without giving different values for each, so for now I'll revert it to live values while I work something out)

* Team bonus now gives Cavaliers +3 Attack and Paladins +4 Attack against Archers.
(+2 Attack seems quite underwhelming to be honest. This makes the bonus more rewarding for both Persians and same team civs with strong Knights to counter Archers).

* Aswaran now gives Cavalry +1 Armor and Pierce Armor
(Does not inlude Cavalry Archers, they'd be so broken otherwise. Trying out a tech that's beneficial military wise not economical to test balance).

v1.2 changes:
* The dat file and text are now both part of the mod.

(You no longer need to download the dat file separately. When playing a Map all you need to do is select the Persian mod from the drop down on the top right and you should be good to go)

* Added Redemption.

(From a historical perspective Persian culture had a big influence on other civilisations who engaged with them and I thought it would be interesting to add this to make their monks a teensy bit stronger)

* Removed Chemistry (Therefore also Hand Cannoneer, Bombard Cannon, Cannon Galleon, Elite Cannon Galleon, Bombard Tower).

(The +1 attack won't really be missed as it only applies to the first missile, and removing all gunpowder units by removing one tech is easier than removing each unit individually)

* New (experimental) civ bonus - Cavalry Archers attack 2.5% faster for each tech upgrade researched. The list of techs that implement this bonus is as shown below:
- Fletching
- Bodkin Arrow
- Bracer
- Padded Archer Armor
- Leather Archer Armor
- Ring Archer Armor
- Thumb Ring
- Parthian Tactics
- Heavy Cavalry Archer
- Bloodlines
- Husbandry
- Ballistics

(Not including the attack rate bonus from Thumb Ring the total bonus should add up to +30% faster attack rate for Cavalry archers. As opposed to the Mongols whose Cavalry Archers attack 25% faster right off the bat the Persians will need to research all of the above techs to get the full 30% bonus)

* Mahouts movement speed bonus 25% (Up from 20%).

(I got the impression that War Elephants were still moving too slow as opposed to Battle Elephants so the bonus was bumped up slightly. This is also to compensate for the removal of Cannon Galleons, as now they'll have to rely on their elephants for an effective siege strategy in water maps - once they're safely transported to your opponent's base of course)

v1.1 changes:
* War Elephant and Elite War Elephant movement speed increased to 0.7 from 0.65.
* Mahouts' movement speed bonus lowered to 20% from 30%.

(Overall War Elephants will be slightly faster after researching Mahouts and Husbandry, but Battle Elephants will be slower)

* Aswaran now costs 100F 550G, previously 300F 300G
* Aswaran's gold discount is lowered to 15% from 20%

(To recover the Gold cost of researching Aswaran you will now need to train 50 Knights or War Elephants as opposed to 20 from the previous version)

* Battle Elephants no longer available to Indians.

(If this Persian mod works out I will then work on a mod for the Indians)

Persian Mod v1.0:
* Added Bracer, removed Plate Mail Armor and Hand Cannoneer.
* Added Battle Elephants and Elite upgrade, removed Bombard Cannon.
* War Elephant and Elite War Elephant movement speed increased to 0.65 from 0.6.
* Mahouts' movement bonus now also benefits Battle Elephants.
* Brand new Castle Age UT - Aswaran - which replaces Boiling Oil. The technology reduces the gold cost of all mounted units by 20%. Cost 300F 300G.
* Battle Elephants available to Indians.
