Jetpack Nerfing

Description
This mod modify the "Characters.sbc" files and change the following definitions from the "Default Astronaut":

ForceMagnitude to 300 from 3200 (used to be 1600 in older SE beta version)
SlowdownFactor to 1 from 5 (used to be 3 in older SE beta version)
MinPowerConsumption to 0.0000021666... from 0.000000001
MaxPowerConsumption to 0.00065 from 0.0001
ConsumptionFactorPerG to 300 from 250
EffectivenessAtMinInfluence to 1 from 0.67
EffectivenessAtMaxInfluence to 0 from 1

This makes the jetpack useless on planetary bodies. They are still very useful in space but slower. No longer can you rely on them as your main mean of transportation!

This won't change jetpack properties from custom skin mods, just for the default male and female astronaut.

A rework of this mod that allow for jetpack operation on moons up to 0.25g can be found here.

More numbers:

Using only the suit internal H2 reserve tank (i.e. no H2 refill tank in inventory):

Zero-g operation: At full throttle, ~5 minutes of autonomy.

On planetary bodies with no atmosphere: Hovering operation is not possible. Forward movement on ground maybe possible under specific circumstances but autonomy will be adjusted down, according to gravity force.

On planetary bodies with an atmosphere: Operation is not possible.

Zero-g acceleration performance: 0m/s to 110m/s in ~38 seconds. Same for deceleration.

Note: On a custom planetary/moon bodies, hovering is theoretically possible if the gravity force is under ~0.13g. This was not tested.

Nice!

I'm not sure it was a bug, more just early balancing.
I do think it was interesting, allowing you to go short distances with bottles, and work around the base a bit, but it was very difficult or impossible to get to space or travel LONG distances.

i kind of like the old bugged jetpack where the hydrongen drain was like 10x more on gravity area

Any chance of a jetpack that works in space and lets you "swim" with the water mod but won't allow you to fly in atmosphere?

Hello. wondered to make a similar mod for myself. so the parameter that regulates the work in the atmosphere does not work <EffectivenessAtMinInfluence>1</EffectivenessAtMinInfluence>
<EffectivenessAtMaxInfluence>0</EffectivenessAtMaxInfluence>
whether on the moon (no atmosphere) or on titan (have atmosphere) the behavior of the jet is the same. for this to work depending on the presence of an atmosphere it need to add the line <NeedsAtmosphereForInfluence>true</NeedsAtmosphereForInfluence> below
now i got what i needed (jet works only on the moon, on satellites and planets with an atmosphere - null)
thnks for base of mod)

No update needed for Space Engineers version 1.199.

Oh! Wow! I was under the un-informed assumption that it simply disabled the jetpacks! Thanks so much for the clarification!
By the way... People like you guys who make the individual mods that allow players to play exactly how they want... You really carry the SE community. Thanks.

HalberdGuard: I did inspect the "Configurable Parameters" mod script and, to my good surprise, the creator of this MOD used exactly, numbers for numbers, the values I entered in both of my jetpack nerfing mods variant.

To use the "Jetpack Nerfing" values: Select the "Space" preset in "Configurable Parameters".

To use the "Functional Jetpack Nerfing" values: Select "Moon" preset in "Configurable Parameters.

So, you do not even need to use my mods with it. It does exactly the same thing already!
