I'm not sure it was a bug, more just early balancing.
I do think it was interesting, allowing you to go short distances with bottles, and work around the base a bit, but it was very difficult or impossible to get to space or travel LONG distances.

Any chance of a jetpack that works in space and lets you "swim" with the water mod but won't allow you to fly in atmosphere?

Hello. wondered to make a similar mod for myself. so the parameter that regulates the work in the atmosphere does not work <EffectivenessAtMinInfluence>1</EffectivenessAtMinInfluence>
<EffectivenessAtMaxInfluence>0</EffectivenessAtMaxInfluence>
whether on the moon (no atmosphere) or on titan (have atmosphere) the behavior of the jet is the same. for this to work depending on the presence of an atmosphere it need to add the line <NeedsAtmosphereForInfluence>true</NeedsAtmosphereForInfluence> below
now i got what i needed (jet works only on the moon, on satellites and planets with an atmosphere - null)

HalberdGuard: I did inspect the "Configurable Parameters" mod script and, to my good surprise, the creator of this MOD used exactly, numbers for numbers, the values I entered in both of my jetpack nerfing mods variant.

To use the "Jetpack Nerfing" values: Select the "Space" preset in "Configurable Parameters".

To use the "Functional Jetpack Nerfing" values: Select "Moon" preset in "Configurable Parameters.

So, you do not even need to use my mods with it. It does exactly the same thing already!

Whenever both are in the mod list (no matter the order) it seems that mod and its jetpack setting takes priority! Any chance someone knows how to use these together?

Brianetta: This mod is the original "JetPack nerf" but I kept receiving demands for a more viable one for use in void operation on small planets. So I made a second one. :KOh:

Very much enjoying this. Not sure what the appeal of the reworked one is (I want my jetpack nerfed, unless I'm on the moon?) but this one is ideal. All the benefits of a disabled jetpack, none of the instant death sentence from accidental space bar use in zero G.

While working on a derivative of this mod ( " Functional Jetpack Nerfing " ), I realized that this one could also use some much needed tweaking regarding H² consumption.

So, without touching anything else, how long should one be able to thrust at 100% throttle in zero-G? In minutes, let's say 5? 10? Less than 5? More than 10?

Personally, I think 5 minutes is an adequate amount of time. Remember that this is "5 minutes of non stop 100% throttle". This would translate to much more time since, usually, maneuvering in zero-G is done with the dampeners off while applying short burst of thrust.

Dextro: I get this remark from time to time about the fact that the thrust reduction might be too harsh... I was wondering if you would be willing to test a new branch of this mod that would allow what you ask on moons without atmosphere surface?

Honestly this is just WAAAAAY too brutal, i can't even give myself a tiny boost up on the MOON with 0.25 gravity, i understand this is a jetpack nerf mod but this makes the jetpack practically useless in anywhere that isn't space.

I intended to download this mod because the vanilla jetpack is insanely overpowered and destroys the point in making land vehicles but this just makes jetpacks practically useless, in my opinion it would be better to hard cap speed and make efficiency far worse on planets than space.

@Zóar: The way it works currently is quite simple, it modify a single data file. What you suggest, disabling the visual completely when not in space, is not something I believe can be done. At least, not without delving into very advance moding...

I like how the Mod is now, it seems good that it is not useful on the moon, as in Star Citizen, the EVA can only be used in zero gravity.

@Thales: It is a decision I took to limit effectiveness of the jetpack to space use (Zero-G) only... Can't please everyone. I do believe there are some other mod around doing similar things. Might be worth looking the Steam Workshop for them.

@gumby: I re-uploaded it to steam Workshop. Not sure why it would no longer work for you. There was this change to the user agreement... The modified file itself "characters.sbc" was not changed by KSH.

@BattlePanda: Certainly not intended. Probably due to the fact that jetpack are mostly ineffective in any world with gravity... A side effect I would say.

So I have noticed that I'm able to turn on my jetpack while running and sorta skip along the ground especially downhill and I'm not sure if it's intended or just a side effect of the sometimes
janky af physics we have in se.

It's useful but seems to go against the spirit of what the mod is trying to do.

See, there's this thing called 'walking', and 'building', also 'engineering'. You may have heard the term 'Scaffolding' used at some point.
Basically, deal with it, learn to walk, and build some accessways and ramps, or use ships to help you build with Build Mode (CTRL+G?).
