MCRN Donnager - World Save

Description
Note - If you only want the blueprint for this ship, you can find it here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2981002135

"The Donnager-class battleship is a class of modern Martian Congressional Republic Navy (MCRN) battleship.

Donnager-class battleships are almost 500 meters long, about the same size as a 130-story office building. Measuring 250,000 tons dry weight, pound-for-pound Donnager-class battleships are the largest and most capable ships in the Martian Congressional Republic Navy.

As the primary mainstay battleship classification in the MCRN, the Donnager-class serves multiple roles throughout the Sol System. At the time of the UN-MCR War, eight Donnager-class vessels existed in the Solar System, serving in a variety of roles including fleet command and coordination, battleship, force projection, and carrier of gunships and infantry."

This is a major overhaul of my original MCRN Donnager from The Expanse at full 1:1 scale, with details and functions somewhat accurate to the show. Among its features are:

- operable hangar bay with 6 functional docking pads for smaller ships
- 2 large railgun turrets
- 24 forward guided torpedo tubes
- 36 aft guided torpedo tubes
- 58 point defense cannons

The ship's interior can be accessed through the hangar. There are separate buttons for opening and closing the hangar doors, located on the exterior of the ship near the bottom of each door as shown here:

Interior:
Deck 11 - Mid and Forward Weapons Access
Deck 10 - Command Deck / CIC
Deck 9 - Main Galley
Decks 1-6 - Hangar Bay
Deck 5 - Barracks
Deck 4 - Sick Bay
Deck 3 - Small Galley
Deck S1 - Hangar Control
Deck S2 - Main Engineering
Deck S3 - Reactor Access

Hangar doors and docking pads may also be operated from the hangar control room on deck S1.
The Command Deck is accessible on deck 10, with two upward facing pilot seats and four seats for weapons systems officers.

Pilot and WSO seats have controls for activating/de-activating the PDC array and auto-guidance railgun turrets.

IMPORTANT NOTES-
By default, the ship is in Station Mode, so you'll need to convert to ship in order to take her for a spin.

This ship does use WeaponCore, and familiarity with it is strongly encouraged in order to effectively utilize the Donnager's weapons systems.

The railguns are very large, and their rotors should be locked when the ship is under significant thrust.

This ship is massive. It is comprised of a main grid that sits near the maximum shape limit allowed by the game engine, along with numerous subgrids. It was designed to be a faithful replica over great performance. It also utilizes (but DOES NOT REQUIRE) numerous mods. As the vanilla game's options improve, I will try to pare down the mod count.

Furthermore, this ship utilizes numerous scripts created by Whiplash141 (Radar, Ship Integrity Monitoring), and I would like to thank him for his guidance on proper setup. Please check out his incredible work here:

Man, for real... I hate Hate HATE Weaponcore. It's obnoxiously tedious to set up and even use weapons via WC. You have to read all of these guides and watch a bunch of videos to even figure out how to turn your weapons on and make them shoot at anything. On the other hand, vanilla weapons have sucky AI and tracking.

My hope (and biggest worry) is that modding for SE2 is gonna devolve into a split like SE1 did.

Basically Weaponcore VS everything else.

I'm only now getting into using Weaponcore because it breaks nearly every other weapon mod, and I really hope SE2 doesn't get divided like that.

The new grid system is amazing, and I played SE2 the moment it released, and I'd hate for a community split to happen again.

With regard to the new grid system in SE2, that's exactly what I'm hoping for. If you look closely at some of the hull sections on my model, particularly the bow, you'll see that in order to achieve the detail I wanted I had to build a bow plate in small blocks and attach it to the ship using hinges. Of course workarounds like this degrade the performance of the model and introduce all kinds of opportunities for klang to randomly tear the ship apart.

[well I guess technically it was scuttled but ehh... semantics]

Yeah I can understand that.

But hey, Space Engineers 2 is in Alpha, so maybe someone will be able to do the Tachi justice with it's 25cm grid system somewhere down the line, though that doesn't help fix the issue with it's Bethesda-esque pocket dimension problem.

Its cool that you were able to take some liberties with the Donnager, though. We really only saw the Donnager for what, 2 or 3 episodes before it was blown into stardust by the corpo deepstate.

@Terrance Hood Thank you so much! I'm glad you've discovered The Expanse, and that you're enjoying my Donnager! It's truly been a years-long passion project.

Honestly, I have no idea whose Tachi that is, and I don't think I have the blueprint anymore. A few years ago I just subscribed to a handful of them and stuck one in there that was most accurate to the show and most to scale.

The trick with building a show-accurate Tachi is that it's vastly larger on the inside than it should be, given its external dimension. Donnager, on the other hand, is gargantuan, and there's far less reference material from the show for what the inside looks like (I had to come up with the reactor room and torpedo myself).

Thank you for making this a world. I dunno why the authors of mod-heavy ships don't do that more often.

I recently started watching The Expanse on Amazon, as the first 3 seasons were leaving so I decided to watch it while I could. I had already known that there was a decently sized Space Engineers community based on it...

however I didn't expect someone to RECREATE THE MCRN DONNAGER IN 1:1 SCALE!

This ship is insane!

WHY AM I ONLY NOW FINDING THIS?!

Well done man!

While I'm on the subject, are you gonna release the Tachi in the hangar photo or is that already available somewhere?
