Playable Chosen

Description
This mod is an update/rework of the Playable Chosen mod by Coyotekins, most credit for this idea goes to them.

Requires a new campaign!

(in)compatibles:
- mods that change the following abilities: Kinetic Plating, Planewalker, Spectral Zombie, Spectral Army. will affect the playable chosen too.
- if using [WOTC] LW2 Secondary Weapons, change bEditAbilityTemplatesForBaseClasses to false in the XComLW2SecondariesWOTC config file of that mod, else it will break the Hunter's pistol
- should work fine for LWOTC(?), but they wont be able to call evac themselves and need a human squadmate to call it

This mod adds 25 new proving ground projects

Regular versions: how they are meant to be recruited, with price-tags, build time, and research requirements

Build Chosen Assassin
Build Chosen Hunter
Build Chosen Warlock

Build Chosen Assassin M2 (requires M1 version, Plated Armor, Gauss Weapons, Stunlancer autopsy)
Build Chosen Hunter M2 (requires M1 version, Plated Armor, Gauss Weapons)
Build Chosen Warlock M2 (requires M1 version, Plated Armor, Gauss Weapons, Psionics)

Build Chosen Assassin M3 (requires M2 version, Powered Armor, Storm Gun, Archon Autopsy)
Build Chosen Hunter M3 (requires M2 version, Powered Armor, Plasma Sniper)
Build Chosen Warlock M3 (requires M2 version, Powered Armor, Heavy Plasma Weapon)

Build Chosen Assassin M4 (requires M3 version, Chosen Assassin Weapons)
Build Chosen Hunter M4 (requires M3 version, Chosen Hunter Weapons)
Build Chosen Warlock M4 (requires M3 version, Chosen Warlock Weapons)

Free Versions: for if you want to have them the second you start playing, or for testing

Use the Free Version Proving ground project and you'll unlock a repeatable and free version of all the m1-m4 variants

They all feature iconic chosen abilities, and 2-3 rows of perks up until colonel rank

Their weapons are very strong and to justify this, their non-free techs have a very high price on supplies, you need to bribe the greed out of their humanity to recruit them anyway.

Bugs:
- Chosen may sometimes spawn in incorrect positions, this primarily happens if you bring multiple, but is just a visual glitch and fixes itself upon moving
- After the Chosen Warlock extracts knowledge there'll be a short pause where him and his target stand awkwardly before the target blinks out of existence, sadly no easy way to fix this as chosen animations are exceptionally gimmicky to try and work with in unreal editor
- Summon abilities (Shogun, Prelate, Beastmaster) will summon the units inside each other if you summon multiple, they will still be able to move so just a visual bug
- The chosen hunter's pistol overwatch will still cause him to fire his rifle instead

changes made from coyotekins/fireborn's version:
- health has been reworked, giving them less to start, but more per rank level (configurable in characterstats and classdata ini)
- new abilities have been added, including planewalker, spectral zombie, spectral army, and kinetic plating
- M4 variants have been added, including cooler armor and higher stats
- Grenades have been added, however they have custom ones only meant for chosen use, do not give their grenades to other soldiers, and do not give the chosen any other grenades than their specific ones, or animations will be broken
- Hunter's bleed bullets have been added, making him now even more overpowered
- Their icons have been changed, now using the Chosen target icon instead of the alien one
- Their health-bar has been changed, now sporting the purple health with the red icon next to it like actual chosen
- removed the item dropped by chosen to make the playable ones, instead giving them a steep cost of supplies but repeatable, and their respective chosen's research required for the M4 variants
- the chosen can get randomly generated nicknames that match the original chosen
- the chosen have received custom class icons (with credit to EvilBob22)
- and more!

Small Notes:
- proving ground prices are not final, i am bad at balancing.
- planewalker will sometimes show the incorrect position of the chosen, this is not a mod-bug, this is a bug in the base-game existing on the actual chosen as well
- requires war of the chosen (duhhh)

Permissions:
- in short, ask before you port or use assets unless the assets were by other creators where i have no say in

Credits:

Coyotekins/Fireborn for making most of the base playable chosen, and giving me permission to use said assets in this continuation of the mod

HoneyTheYellowBear, the chosen's mountain mist grenades, psios grenades, stun grenades, and bleeding rounds are all based off of their versions of it and then edited to work with chosen animations by me

User 190 for chosen voice edits (same as on Coyotekins/Fireborn their version)

EvilBob22 for custom class icons

Me for anything not listed in the credits

@Puro, ah that makes more sense then, it's semi-intended but planned to be updated should I get back into modding at any point, as I simply did not figure out a way to have the projects be upgrades instead of creating new chosen
Puro Jun 5 @ 10:33am
I don't mean repeatable projects, i mean that there are 2 soldiers in my barracks that are *The Chosen [Hunter]* instead of the pre-existing one being updated or replaced
Gazgemauch  [author] Jun 5 @ 5:25am
@Puro If you see repeatable projects for the non-cheat versions of the Chosen, that is a bug, I haven't worked on my mods on a while so I don't remember if I tested that part.

As for the focus bar, they are being used but they just don't decrease on use. The following abilities: Spectral Zombie. Spectral Army. Prelate. Beastmaster. Shogun. Use Focus as a factor for how many units they summon (For example, if you have the M1 Hunter, he has 1 focus, and with Beastmaster, a Colonel ability I think, will summon 1 Chryssalid, but the M4 Hunter, with 4 focus, will summon 4 Chryssalids)
Puro Jun 4 @ 11:57pm
Also it seems as if the focus bar thing on the hunter is unusable, no abilities use it
Puro Jun 4 @ 11:36pm
There seems to be an additional duplicate chosen after i've done the upgrade project for the chosen (Hunter), is this intentional? and if so, are there any more signifigant differences other than health, or would i freely be able to use the console to pull them up to the first chosen's promotion?

@Gazgemauch Btw, maybe make the summoned units be controlled by AI (like the resistance)? Yeah, I'm just a fan of AI allies so you don't have to manage an already large squad.

And something special, what about mechanized summon? As an alternative perk for say the hunter. Please? I beg

@MaximuS_42 Check out Rusty's "Unit Flag Extended", it recreates the flag (the part with the health bar, name, status icons, etc.). It has colors that match the teams, so lost are green for example, and custom colors for rulers.
Gazgemauch  [author] May 24 @ 8:24am
@MaximuS_42

I did it through marking them as actual chosen in their character template, although unfortunately, I don't think it was possible to do for rulers too, since they only move with Ruler Reaction instead of the 2 Action Points on their turn, it'd mean they wouldn't receive any actions on XCOM's turn
MaximuS_42 May 24 @ 1:24am
@Gazgemauch, how did you make this feature where playable chosen have their actual purple health bar color and icon?

It would be very useful to do the same for the playable rulers with their unique multi-layer green health bar.

Frankly the chosen are such a guilty and fun pleasure to use in LWotC, even in their current state (Vanilla). I would love to see a LWotC version. Even if the current one works fine, there's a couple of things that would need tweaking. I wouldn't say it's easy to create new trees and classes but it's a learning process otherwise I would've given it a shot myself in my free time. The problem is ironically the balance or in this case a fun tree, that is usable throught the game using the current one as foundation, and that usually comes from experience.
