Description

The classic gamemode returns in a new form! New Saxton’s abilities! Better animations and visual effects! High quality maps (yes, several)!
It’s all here, inside the map file! No need to install plugins, just subscribe on the Workshop!

What is VS Saxton Hale? It's in the name! You fight Saxton Hale! Or you play as Saxton Hale and fight the Mercenaries.



Are you ready to face 23 enemies at once? ‘Cause they surely aren’t ready to face you!










Tiny Rock was made to be an Arena Payload Race map (that's right, both Arena and Payload Race!), but it worked very well for VS Saxton Hale.

LizardOfOz - the original VSH Plugin, VSH VScript recreation, promotional material.
Maxxy - Saxton Hale's model imitating Jungle Inferno SFM, custom animations, promotional material.

MegapiemanPHD - Voice of Saxton Hale and Gray Mann.

@GoldenPerson there's a script available on tf2maps (google "tf2maps Vs Saxton Hale VScript") that you can pack into a map. The page explains how to use it.

no gameplay-related queries from me, but the voice lines for the mercs turn me off from the mode quite a bit

I was originally excited that this gamemode was added officially but after trying it for a while, it just plays significantly worse than the old school community server VSH and FF2 mods. I've played for a full on hour on a 10 person server without getting hale once. The queue to become hale needs to be retooled.

Hale also needs to be balanced better. Either make Saxton Punch! (red glowing fist) not be tied to a timer and instead make it proportional to damage taken OR make it so that if you punch and don't make contact you lose it+put a time limit for how long you can have the Saxton Punch! without landing a hit.

Add a cooldown or at least a charge up to saxton's jump holy shit he's absolutely op when he grasshops around
