Astoria, Oregon

Description
Do you like to build on maps with massive amounts of water? Looking for something with challenging terrain while still being able to make a nice looking city without too much effort? Do you like to build a collection of smaller cities as opposed to sprawling out one mass of grids over the map? Then this is the map for you! With a beautiful Pacific Northwest setting and lots of natural features to provide a beautiful backdrop for your city this map is great for players of all skill levels.

You can watch me make this map in this video here - https://youtu.be/f5iNgjbvADs

This map can be played FULLY VANILLA with NO MODS or DLCs (linked items in requirements are OPTIONAL visual only mods). It is based on a heightmap of Astoria, Oregon and the surrounding area along the Oregon/Washington border at the mouth of the Columbia River on the Pacific coast of the United States. Astoria is the oldest American-founded city on the west coast, settled in 1811 by John Astor and named after him. It was an important port in the Pacific providing access to the Columbia River which flows along the Oregon/Washington border east into Portland.

The map has a relatively small amount of flat buildable land, the focus being the river and bay in the center. This means it's ideal for creating a collection of small and medium sized cities or towns as opposed to one sprawling large city, however, if you're using 81 Tiles you still have quite a bit of land around the edges to play on.

I have used visual mods in the preview pics and included the Render It, Relight and AD Cloud Replacer Settings(using Fluffy Cloud setting) in the preview pics. I'm also using Daylight Classic. But it is not required.
I have modified the heightmap a bit to make it more playable and visually appealing in game but tried to keep it as true to the original as possible. The highway included on the map loosely follows the alignment of US Route 101 but I have not included the bridge across the river to allow players to make their own if they choose to do so. Linked Theme Mix is recommended but not required. If you have any issues loading the theme mix or map don't hesitate to message me and I'll be happy to help but I made it on a fully vanilla account so it should work on any PC, although it does contain a large amount of trees considering the Pacific Northwest setting.

For best results it is recommended you use 81 Tiles or 25 Tiles mod but it CAN be played fully vanilla and has resources and outside connections in all available vanilla squares.

The links I previously added seemed to be dead, so I added the Themes and LUT I'm using plus Daylight Classic in the required items on the side. If you don't want to download a bunch of different themes the map will look nearly like screenshots if you just use Not So Rocky Hills.

I live a few miles NW of here in Chinook, WA. I travel the Astoria Bridge at least 3 times a week for shopping in Warrenton, OR. You did an amazing job on the map. Also, I found your YouTube channel a few weeks back. I totally enjoy your videos.
