Operation Trent

It is 2001, start of the War on Terror in Afghanistan.

In mid-October 2001, A Sqn and G Sqn of 22 SAS deploy to north west Afghanistan in support of OEF-A under the command of CENTCOM. They conduct largely uneventful reconnaissance tasks under the codename Operation Determine, none of these tasks resulted in enemy contact; after a fortnight and with missions drying up both squadrons returned to their barracks in the UK.

They are put in action again, however, when after political deliberation, SAS are given a direct action mission. They are to secure a Taliban linked opium processing plant.


A recon team is HALO dropped to a strech of flat desert to scout out a possible temporary landing zone, some 150kms from the target.
Squadrons A and G are deployed to the TLZ from C-130 cargo planes, with a generous assortment of Land Rovers for transport.
They need to start moving quickly, since tight schedules of US planes mean that they can only provide air support for a short window in daytime. SAS begrudgingly comply.

This is a short, intensive mission largely based on the real-life Operation Trent. Some things have been changed however, for performance, resource or gameplay reasons. This only aims to follow the basic structure of the mission, not create a faithful recreation.
