Introduction:
WEC - Encounters Reborn is a PvE mod that adds neutral-hostile encounters to your world.

Is the mod alive?
Yes - please don't comment asking if the mod still works. It does!
WEC Encounters Reborn still works as per October 14th 2024 (SE "Contact" Update), and I will continue to support it in case something breaks. New content is partially finished, but I lack motivation and incentive to continue working on it. Maybe when i find the time i'll finish them, maybe with some new stuff too.

Drones attack any "hostile" targets that they detect, regardless of involvement.

Drones will target: Beacon/Antenna Signals & fast grids in <10km, Line of sight in <1.6km. Drones will NOT target grids inside Safe Zones.
Be stealthy, and use decoy torpedoes to lure them away!

What is The Corporation?
≮̳̆͘ͅE̷͇̋̚R̸̉͘ͅR̶̻͠_̵̳̔0̵̣͖̒̇ẍ̷̧̥2̴̝̈́w̸̡̛͇̃3̴̙́c̷̱͍̎̈́≯͖̈́̓ , nowadays just known as The Corporation, is a long-forgotten Gigacorporation managed by an administrative Artificial Intelligence meshnet.

Following an unknown incident many years ago, this AI network has gone rogue, with every human having disappeared seemingly overnight. The ships they use come from different sources - such as the many rivaling corporations that were acquired in the past. They are now united under a distinct Neon/Cyan paint job, visible even in the darkest of nights.

The Corporation doesn't like wasting their combat assets - instead, they scramble together a fleet of drones, should something threaten their secretive operations. During such a scramble, The Corporation will also attack any other vessels nearby, since they may pose an additional threat.



Difficulty & who this mod is for:
I have designed this mod with the majority of the SE playerbase in mind - that being engineers who want to see more NPCs in their world, and see them interact. The encounters have been optimised for exactly that, without being too overwhelming for beginner players.

This mod's "difficulty" is comparable to Meridius_IX's Reavers - Terror of the Verse, but you won't see direct conflict unless you (or other NPCs) attack CORP ships.

What can you expect from the mod?
Engaging Dogfights: In WEC - Encounters Reborn, you will be fighting against a variety of ships, stations and drones with specialised AI, both on planets and in space. Their advanced combat behaviour makes turrets slightly less effective, and thus encourages the use of dedicated fighters/drones for combat purposes. Exploration & Lore: Whilst most of the encounters & ships in WEC - Encounters Reborn are hostile, this mod encourages exploration. You can occasionally find the log entries and supplies of employees and other survivors inside ships, structures and derelicts, with more being added throughout the development process. Some of these logs may even offer tips on how to handle bigger threats... Dynamic Difficulty: The Corporation doesn't like wasting resources - However, the more you build up, the more assets they will deploy in your area. Whilst CORP is generally dormant, you should only ever attack their assets if you are prepared to face the consequences. Anti-Cheese (aka "Anti-Hydroman"): As a NPC modder, I'm aware that it is easy to cheese and capture massive ships with only a jetpack, hydrogen bottle and grinder. That's why I've added anti-cheese systems to almost all non-drone grids in the mod - you'll be in for quite a "shocking" surprise, unless you disarm the system first. Those new Warfare 2 weapons seem to work nicely for it.


Additional Information:

World & Mod Settings: - (Server-only) Selective Physics Updates -> OFF, or set Sync Distance to over "10000" - this is an MES limitation. - (Optional) Economy -> ON - (Optional) Ingame Scripts -> ON (Adds fancy lighting to certain encounters) - (Optional) Drones -> ON (Not required, but helps other mods)
NOTES: - Avoid combat mods (weapons, shields, etc.) unless they are in line with Vanilla balancing. - With that said: This is NOT compatible with WeaponCore or any modded weaponry. - The drones may behave unexpectedly if speed mods are being used. - This mod may interact with other PvE mods and modded planets in ways that are potentially unpredictable or unbalanced. Report issues if they arise. - Content will NOT spawn until you've established yourself (spawning based on the MES "Threat Score" system).

Well in that case, when you have time and are in SE, please head on over to the Modular Encounters Community Discord [discord.gg] (#wec-mods channel) and ping me, as I will need MES diagnostics info to check if you're maybe running into a spawning issue.

i have quite the base going and several ships, no modded planets or any other mods to be exact just a normal star system world and MES and WEC

That could be because of any of the following...
- Your Threat Score is too low: My encounters only spawn once you've established yourself and have built up some infrastructure/ships/defenses.
- Bad RNG/luck: This is especially relevant when using other NPC mods alongside mine (which I do recommend, a lot of them interact with eachother!).
- You're in a location where things simply can't spawn: (Example: modded planet with excessive gravity / no atmosphere or harsh terrain).

If that doesn't solve it, join the Modular Encounters discord and ping me in the #wec-mods channel, and we can look into diagnosing further ^^

maybe im too dumb to figure it out but i have MES and WEC mod loaded but nothing spawns in any ideas?

Everything still works, and I still intend to provide support IF something were to break.
I've just not had the time or motivation to continue adding more content to this.

This mod is unique, you can use it just fine together with Imber and co ^^
To explain why they look similar, we have to take a look into how my mod here came to be:

WEC Encounters Reborn was made in early 2020 as one of the first mods to use the new Behaviour system (formerly known as RivalAI). Meridius_IX has endorsed it as a "spiritual successor" to his old Shadows of the Nebula (SotN) NPC mod, which is also where Imber's designs happen to come from (he sent me the blueprints).

Eventually in 2022, Meridius wanted to bring the remainder of the SotN ships back, which he did with the rebranding of Surface Occupation, Air Traffic and Reddit Custom Encounters into Parallax, Imber and InCon respectively.

these ships appear to be identical in color with Paralax/Imber/Incon sometimes. So do i need this mod if I have those?

Stay safe! Don't feel pressured to work on old projects you aren't passionate about, just make sure to tell people so maybe someone at the very least could maintain them if you do drop support.
