300 (The Forgotten Compliant)

Description
The old version of my map 300 was breaking on LudaKRIS maps, so here's a new one that won't.

So what's it all about?

300 Sticks players on an arid plateau, with an impenetrable mountain range in the middle. The only way through is a narrow path WHERE THEIR NUMBERS ARE MEANINGLESS TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL THIS! IS! SPARTA!

Ahem.

Expect a race to command the pass, with the victor forcing the loser to slog through a rain of firepower and barriers. With no possible access by any other means, that 1% of the map will get bloody- and fast. Make it through, and you'll find the open plains beyond can accomodate ambushes from any direction.

This map will ruin friendships or your money back.

Note that like all maps with a large dividing border, 300 plays best with teams together enabled. I am aware the Forgotten supports this as a map parameter, but using it makes the map unplayable for Classic games, so yeah.

I've sort of resolved to give up on the by-map-size declarations. The only downside to putting down resources in a purely gaussian fashion is that you can end up with a lot of piles, which in a map that is meant to be sparse won't work. I used this method with worldwide and Amazonia, both of which put resources in specific areas, and will do it with the next 300 as well, but 300 is kind of a slugfest map so tons of stuff isn't a bad idea.

You could probably also use min_distance_group_placement to space out objects, although that also pushes against all non-grouped objects meaning you need another layer of mapping diligence. I'm still not sure it works as intended.

I should actually go and revise my maps as well, I've just been put off by the fact that the update system in the workshop is mostly broken. But adding LudiKRIS support is a good reason to do a general overhaul of all the maps.

As per your post in the scripting discussion, this map also needs retooled for resources at max size. I'm working on a kind of enhanced version that should be better on all fronts. It may even end up looking more like actual Greece, but don't hold your breath.

I just checked, and you are placing the mountains and palmtrees after the relics are placed, so if you move the relic command further down that should solve your problem.by placing relics after the barrier is placed :)

Thanks! A friend of mine pointed out a goofy bug on this map that you'll want to keep in mind if you script though. Sometimes relics will generate in amongst the mountains and trees where you can't reach them- this seems to be a product of the fact that mountains hace a small walkable corner that still counts as part of the mountain. So down the line I may need to do another version of this map with terrain constraints on the relic drops. Facepalm!!!!!!
