This one is so good that I routinely forget that it's not in the base game.

I was pleasantly surprised by how "weak" feeling Disciple is. Even all of the Downfall characters, as amazing as they are, don't seem to give the same kind of challenge that the base characters do. This is definitely challenging! Plus, she's very cute! Great mod. I'm glad I checked this page and got to see some backstory from the author. Cheers for a nice experience.

I really want an expansion for the upcoming Board Game for the Disciple.

Best character mod I've ever seen so far, but we need Chinese!!!

This is not surprising, this mod was the first complete character mod back in early 2018 (though ~7 other incomplete characters were present when it was released). The character was completed and balanced when the game only went up to A15 and there was no Heart, and I balanced it to be more challenging than vanilla as at the time Baalor and I were running on 20+ A15 winstreaks.

Since then the game has gotten much harder with A16-A20, and also the Heart. The Disciple is definitely not tuned well for those - Overall Disciple is weaker, but Pattern Shift in particular is very strong against the heart, and so are a few other cards that lower Strength or remove Buffs temporarily as they were designed without the Heart in mind.

Additionally, several Disciple mechanics, cards, and code was adopted or used directly with permission for the Watcher.

So I really like the mechanics and effects that the cards use, but man I feel like he's really weak, and most of the replica's are just pretty weak, since they take up a spot in your deck and have such small, momentary value. Take Hourglass replica for example. It's just as effective as playing a cleave twice in one combat, but cleave benefits from vulnerable/str gain. Or the Heartbox one. It's such a small timer to get such little value, and once it shatters you're still stuck with it. If there was some reliable way to get them back, or someway for it to have a greater impact, it'd be a different story, but as of now they're just really not worth getting.
The rest of his cards just seem so weak and I have a hard time justifying picking them, but if I don't have anything in my deck I get rolled.
Even his starter relic is just Establishment, the relic. He really needs some buffs to feel playable, especially in higher ascension
