Features in detail:

Water:
Global water level. All dynamic blocks have bouyancy and drag calculated.
Character can swim (and drown) in water

Planet changes:
Not required but highly recommended to start in a new empty world (no wonders)

Sails:
There are many sizes and types of sails available. Wind direction changes over time and can be seen using the wind vane or by looking at the sails.
You have Square sails that work well when the wind is in your back and Lateen (triangle) sails that work well when the wind is at your side or going partialy into the wind.

Tide system:
The water level changes over time (default 2m change over 1.5h) and can be fully customized using chat commands.
do /help tide to see the commands. Creative tools must be enabled to use the commands.

Rudder:
This is a block with a more advanced drag simulation. The result is that you can use it for steering your boat, or as a keel to keep your boat more stable. And a lot of other stuff, like paddle wheel boats, or hydrofoil boats.

Rope ladders:
You can climb these ladders, up or down. When you let go you can choose to jump left, right or forward. Great for climbing your mast.

Whales:
These will spawn now and then in deep waters. If you manage to kill one the bounty will be great.
Dead whales must be "harvested" with the hammer.

Fishing:
The fishing net can be dragged through the water to catch fish. What you catch depends on your latitude, water depth and the depth of your net. Current list of catchable fish and creatures (to be extended):
Marlin, Tuna, Salmon, Snook, Sardines, Jewfish, Crab, Kingcrab, Lobster

Anchor:
This block can be used to secure your ship. Both from moving and from other people picking up your blocks.

Mod Performance:

While the mod looks very heavy on performance, it is really not. The main impact will be from the increased usage of dynamic grids. But don't worry, grids in the water will go in a 'sleep' mode when not in use and have little impact on performance. You can have 100's of large ships in the water and still have full simspeed. Your fps in this case is another story...

World map problems:
If your world map is not correct, you can remove this folder: AppData\Roaming\MedievalEngineers\Map

/tide min -x, and /tide max -x, to lower the min and max tide levels, which lowers the overall water level

Because some mod you've added has loaded the water mod. Use "/help tide" to figure out how to lower the water level so it's out of the way

@Mr.Mouse, I have made small picture album that is kind of tutorial, long, long time ago.

A lot of changed since then, both main game and mods used. I have published few of my designs on workshop, you can check it and reverse engineer how it is build.
There is also a lot of other people crafts that you can check too, to find out how it is build.

There's not really tutorials, just word of mouth. Join ME Discords and people will be glad to help. In any of my mod descriptions I link the Medieval Industrialists Discord, probably the best place to ask.

I like this mod. i spent near two weeks building little villages along the waterside with really pretty views. I was having soo much fun, that I forgot about the ship building element and fishing.
I might have missed something somewhere, but is there any sort of tutorial out there on how to use these blocks? like how to build a small boat, steer the thing, and use the fishing features? i checked YT, but i'm getting more SE stuff.

I want to stress how much fun i've had so far without even touching the core elements. just water and coasts alone makes this mod worth a DL and a thumb
