For some background i have played all of the anthologies so far and all were played with a group and IMO from until dawn to little hope this is the best so far.


Forgoing the prologue
You play as 4 Young adults (and one sea captain) who go out for a diving expedition. Doing so they look for a remnant of the past, but in doing so, they find a little more than they bargain for.

If you're into creepy stories or interesting anomalies than most likely you know the real story of the Medan. As for my personal knowledge into this, I do believe it to have an effect on why i liked the story so much... but there is one key factor that makes this experience for me.
For story driven games its quite important to know if you like it, but without any delay, lets get into the good the bad and the meh :/


Characters: They all do what they set out to do. A rich boy you hate, the two love birds you root for (or not), the struggling stern captain, and nerdy brother with a heart of gold. Chances are (depending how you play) you will probably grow attached to at least one.

Story: Like i said prior, i knew the actual story going into it, soooo i'm going to say there is a bit of bias. All around its still unique and definitely the play (or watch on youtube you heathen).

Visuals: there is a lot to love here. From the small details like the tan lines on character models that didn't need to exist, to the cool creepy atmosphere in every scene. In its own right its awesome..... except for one thing (see meh section)

Multiplayer: easily the best feature in the game. having those intense pass the controller moments with your pals can lead to some really suspenseful moments. The feeling of someone loosing there character or making an decision that's not unanimous. This to me is by far the best way to play.

(Doesn't ruin the experience, but bogs it down)

Face animations: ranges from good to bad, to down right hilarious. it can really break your immersion, but by the end you barely notice it.

Awkward dialogue: Especially the small talk at the start, you can feel the awkwardness in every line. Once again, by the end it's completely fine.

Noticeable cuts: If you have a dead character, or even a shorter dialogue than intended, you will have some long hanging shots,

Glitches: Arguably the worst part is the glitches. Even while they have the next game out and are currently working on the third installment. The game still has glitches (the latest update while great to play online and gift a play code to your friends, crashes my game) this isn't a one off problem either, the latest game has glitches too, some ported from this game.


If you like: A cool unique experience to chill with your friends, good creepy story with some cheap (sometimes good) scares, and even a little theory crafting with some unexplained events. You will like this game.

If you don't like: linear, not very active, sometimes jankey games. Than this isn't your game.
