Unironically the most important game ever made. Doesnt get half the attention it deserves. What a shame.

Genuinely funny, atmospheric and entertaining little game. Lot of memorable characters and choices that make you want to replay just to see what else can happen. The mechanics are solid and are expanded upon in ways that dont get frustrating, and the music is amazing.

Without nostalgia goggles, this game is pure garbage. After one playthrough i honestly dont think i'll ever go back to it.

PROS:
+Music selection is amazing
+Graphics are very good for the time, though its not as atmospheric as games like San Andreas or GTA4

♥♥♥♥:
-Story is okay, but its just that. "Okay" is hardly a selling point. The plot is Scarface beat for beat except much worse, filled with zany characters that contribute nothing.
-The idea of building a criminal empire is cool but the way vice city executed it is so piss poor its inexcusable. Your "empire" is expanded through god awful, barely playable side missions like the ice cream truck mission or the godforsaken rc helicopter or plane mission.
-Difficulty spikes relentlessly, which is a problem consistently with older GTA titles. One mission will ask you to kill 3 guys, the next will be to navigate an rc helicopter in and out of a building 6 times without touching anything.
-Tommy Vercetti is such an unlikeable protagonist that i honestly rank him the lowest on the list of GTA characters, even after Claude who's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mute. Tommy throws out braindead quips and "cool" mafia cliche lines during cutscenes that im rooting for the cops every time i get into a firefight.
-Vehicles handle like ass, which is abysmal for a game with heavy driving and racing missions.
-Some missions are just borderline unplayable, particularly the one where you have to drive a band around at top speed for several minutes without braking or hitting something, and if you mess up ONCE the timer resets.
